Wow! It is great to be back in the blogging world. I have had such a time with my Internet…including three visits from the “Internet Repairman” since last Monday. Hopefully everything is fixed…and just in time to play with The Paper Players. This week, Lesley has created a “Tic-Tac-Toe” challenge. I selected “Blue-Dry Embossing-Masculine” for my choices. I hope you enjoy today’s card!
This finished card measure 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.
- A Blue Ribbon Birthday! I loved how the concept artists at Stampin’ Up! added the rosette to their Blue Ribbon example in the catalog…so I added it to mine as well! My rosette was created using a 1″ strip of Riding Hood Red and my Simply Scored pad. I scored at every 1/4th inch and accordion pleated down the length.
- Follow the Rules! One of the patterns in the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper Collection features rulers. How perfect to use on a masculine card in place of a ribbon!
- Texture! The Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is perfect for adding deep texture, especially when paired with Early Espresso Core’dinations Card Stock.
- I get by with a little help from my Friends! The “Friend” image from Family Reunion was inked in Riding Hood Red and stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock. The edges were distressed with Crumb Cake ink and the end was banner-snipped! Need a card for a specific man in your life? Never fear! The Family Reunion set contains stamps for any male you can think of from nephews and uncles, to brother, dad, grandpa, son and husband!
Ack! My Internet woes have placed me so far behind since I returned from Convention. Besides the Stampin’ Up! fun, I was thrilled to meet up with several of my blogging friends. Thanks for the hugs and the cards! I am already looking forward to Convention next year just to meet up with all of you again! I do have one picture to share with you. It is my annual picture with Shelli, which was taken by my friend, Nicole Watt. Nicole was our “Stamparazzi” while at Convention.
As always, your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them. So please, won’t you let me know what you think of today’s masculine card? And if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Wow – love every little bit of this card Ann! The woodgrain embossing looks fab and particularly with the tool background, and the award ribbon is a superb focal point for a man’s card.
What a fabulous card! Love your medallion along with the ruler and strip of woodgrain, not to mention your fun and inspiring description.
Thanks for sharing your picture.
Great card. Couldn’t get more of guy card than tools. Glad to hear your internet is up and running. Hi to the pups.
Another brilliant card Ann! 🙂
Now I have to purchase the tool background stamp – love how it’s used as well as the combination of sets-so happy to have met you at convention-big hugs – MAMMa
Ann, I am glad your internet issues hopefully are gone and you are up and running. I had computer issues in the spring so I know how far it can put you. Now done to your card, Awesome! as usual. I just love the tool idea and if my father was still with us, I would case this for him. He had more tools than lowes. LOL
love the colors and the texture
This card is just darn right fun! Love it! Love all the fun elements from that great rosette to the wood grain embossing. And, are those two colored pearls on that ruler? Has to be since it is an Ann card! Glad your internet is back up and running.

Love your guy card Ann. The rosette behind the medallion really sets of the image. The ruler is indeed a great replacement for the ribbon. Glad to see that your internet woes may be finally over. Your picture with Shelli is beautiful.
Terrific guy card! The woodgrain is wonderful! Also love the pic with Shelli! That chalkboard theme this year was so neat!
Just love the color combo you chose!
FYI – Paper Players challenge is NOT up… just sayin 🙂
Another Schachalicious card Ann! I love everything about it. The color is perfect, the snippet of fanfare dsp is ideal, and of course the texture is perfect. What guy wouldn’t love receiving this card! Glad you are back among the blogging living!
I’m just going to start calling you Ann “the tool-woman” Schach! Remember that show Home Improvement? If not, then I just sound like I am crazy….which is also quite possible! Lol!!
This came together beautifully, Ann! I used that stamp set just the other day as well…but not nearly as great as you did. The rosette adds such a pop behind the blue ribbon! I’m still sorting through my Convention photos…be on the lookout soon for them. I still think I had the best roomies ever…not that I’m biased or anything. Lol! Have a fun day! Hugs to the boxer trio! 🙂
What a handsome card Ann, and it’s fun too! I love how you embossed the stamped layer in the background to match the “wood panel” below. The rosette is perfect for this blue ribbon too. I just don’t seem to remember to make those and they add so much! Wow, three trips for the internet. Glad it appears to be fixed now. Hope you have a relaxing Sunday!
Oh my Ann! This is FANTASTIC! Love all the texture! That rosette is perfect too!!! I haven’t made one in quite sometime so thank you for reminding me! LOL!
LOVE the picture of you at convention! Next year I plan to attend!
Ann,
So glad your internet is back up and running. It was so great meeting you at convention. Hope you didn’t mind me coming up to you while you were trying to ease you back. I really enjoyed talking to you and finding out about Brody, Muffy and Lexi. I hope Muffy started to eat when you got home and she does ok in her next show. Can’t wait to hear about it. Love this card. I have trouble with masculine cards. I need to do more of them to get better.

Way to rise to the challenge! I love the integration and interaction of your masculine elements. I am glad your internet is back up and running!
Hi Ann! So sorry to hear about your internet problems. I certainly understand your “I am… frustrated” because I have had computer problems for years. I was actually relieved when it finally “died.” I am now the happy owner of a fantastic laptop and see my life getting much easier now.
Love your card! I am always looking for creative masculine cards! Of course, now I have more DSP to purchase!
Thanks – and am curious how the little Lexie handled your absence!
What an awesome masculine card! Love the colors and that woodgrain texture! I’m so glad your internet is up and running again, fingers crossed that it stays that way! Fabulous picture of you and Shelli too!
Great man card! They aren’t always easy to create. Thanks for that one! Love your picture with Shelli. Glad your internet is working once again. Don’t want to say it to loudly. Wouldn’t want to jinx it!
Love the card! But, then again, I always love your cards! Great pic of you and Shelli! Have a great day! 🙂
Oh my gosh, this is incredible! Puts my blue embossed masculine card to SHAME!!! Awesome creation and very cool pic with Shelli, too! Woohoo!
Great card, Ann! I love the woodgrain texture you added and the colors you used. We must be kindred spirits, because this stamp is on my “must purchase” list. It’s just such a great image for masculine cards.
Love the Card…I have this Tool Shed Stamp (Dad’s a carpenter) and it is nice to see it used for more than just a background stamp. I believe I will start experimenting more with this Stamp!!! Thanks for sharing.
