It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the lovely Nance is hosting a theme challenge: In Celebration of Mothers. My mother passed away many, many years ago, but I think she would have liked the card I created for her. She loved Victoriana, so I tried to incorporate that theme into my design aspects, using the fabulous Layered Labels stamp set, which will be available June 1st. I hope you enjoy “Memories of Mom”.
This finished card measures 5-1/4″ square.
- Texture! What better way to impart a Victorian flair to a card than by using a vintage patterned embossing folder! The retiring Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, with its appropriately sized motif, is a perfect choice. A little Crumb Cake ink, brayered over the surface, allows the pattern to pop!
- Pattern! The new “Heartfelt” Layered Label, with its intricate detailing, is not only feminine and vintage, it perfectly fits the largest Apothecary Accents Framelit. It was lightly tinted with Baja Breeze ink using a Blender Pen.
- Sentiment! The “Memories” sentiment, from the Loving Thoughts stamp set, was substituted for the word “Heartfelt”, which is located in the center of the image. The Bitty Banners Framelit fits the word and the space perfectly!
- Jewels! What could be better for finishing off the focal image than Pearls!
I often find myself wondering what my mother would think of the woman I have become. Would she be proud of me and my accomplishments? I like to think she would. I also find myself wondering what she would think of my wonderful husband and the grandson she never knew. Would she appreciate Kim’s sense of humor? I know she would. And I know she would have cherished Brady, just as she cherished all of her other grandchildren.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card and the peek at the new products! I would love to know what you think, so won’t you please let me know in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Ann, as always your card is beautiful! You do amazing work. I have to think that your mother would be very proud of you and your little family. I too lost both my parents while I was expecting my only child and I too wonder what it would have been like for them to have been here and since they were not what they would think of the life I have lead. We are both best to have moved on and had an amazing life. The best to you, Pam

Ann what a gorgeous card …the style and colors are beautiful and of course a touch of a pearls. … and YES, your mom would be VERY PROUD of the wonderful kind and sharing person you’ve become. I lost my mom too and miss her daily. My daughter said “gramma’ was her best friend. Such a sweet honor to think my mom not only impacted my life, but my daughter’s in such a great way. She didn’t know her great grandchilden as dimentia had taken it’s toll by time the first one came along. But I always share memories of my mom with them.. I’m so happy to honor MOMs! Hugs.

Such a beautiful card, and now I know that the vintage vibe from your cards was inherited from your Mom, as were my own. My Mom’s been gone since 1990, and I understand your “wondering”. I’d say she’s very proud of you, your family, and all that you are!

A great tribute to your mom! Beautiful card!
Your card reflects your emotions of timeless love, tenderness, and memories of yesterday of your mother! The beauty of your card and the thoughts of your mother is very heartfelt but “Memories” is very befitting for this particular card as a tribute to you mother.
I can’t imagine not having my mother who will be 69 on our birthday, along with my twin brother, this May. We talk at least 6 out of 7 days by phone since I no longer live in Texas. Well we did that when I lived in Texas come to think of it! LOL!
Ann, you’ll be in my thoughts this Mother’s Day for sure now since reading your story. Believe me, your mother is very proud of you and your family! And she’d absolutely love your Twins!! ☺ Have a Super Sunday Ann!
Very beautiful, Ann.
Your card is so lovely!
Beautiful card! I’m sure your mom is smiling down at you now with pride!
Beautiful, Ann!
Beautiful Ann! You have created such a wonderful tribute to your mom. She must have been a fantasic lady because you are! And think of how much her love of the Victorian era has influcenced your style in card making? I think that is so neat. My mom loves Victorian flair as well and I find myself drawn to a little bit of that with some gargae sale treasures such as old linens and lace doilies. Your mom is smiling down on you Ann and SO very proud!
So beautiful, Ann! I know your mother would have loved it.
I still have my mom, but my dad passed away 20 years ago and I still miss him so much.
I know your mom would be proud of you!
Ann, I just lost my mother in January, and I never realized how hard it would be for me. I ache for her so much.
If you’re happy, I’m sure your mother would be very pleased with your choices and so very pleased and proud of the wife and mother that she helped you become.
Your card is truly beautiful! What a fine tribute to your mother!!! I *love* your style. Now, every time that I see your cards, I’ll be reminded of the tenderness that you and your mother must have shared and the wonderful influence that mothers have in our lives. Thanks *so* much for sharing. Hugs, Eileen
This is so pretty and a beautiful tribute to your mom. I love the soft look and the embossed background. I know your mom would be so proud of you, Kim and Brady! And she would surely love her granddogs Muffy and Brody!
