To Bow or Not to Bow for the Pals

It’s Thursday and time to play at Pals Paper Arts. The Pals are hosting a Color Challenge featuring Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade and a third color of your choice!  Taking my cue from the colors in this Designer Series pattern, from the SAB Everyday Enchantment collection, I decided to use Pool Party as my third color. I hope you enjoy my fun and funky color combination!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
The finished dimensions of this card are 4-1/4″ by 5-1/2″.
  • Lazy Daisy!  Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Daisies are perfect for a quick floral accent.  I layered three of the small daisies, making snips in the petals of the top two.  Then I spritzed with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and scrunched it up.  For the photo, I have opened it up a little so you can see the Pool Party Designer Printed Brad which I used for the center.
  •  Pool Party Pennant! The “So Grateful” sentiment, from Apothecary Art, was inked in Always Artichoke and stamped onto Pool Party card stock.  One end was flagged and the other curled to add interest.  The sentiment was then placed onto a Lucky Limeade Oval Frame, which had been adhered to an Always Artichoke Labels Framelit.  A Pool Party scrunchy double bow and Always Artichoke leaves, punched using the Bird Builder Punch, draw attention right to the center panel.  Do you need a refresher on how to make a double bow? Here is my Double Bow Video.
  • Pearl-fection! Basic Pearls are the perfect embellishment on the Pool Party panel, which has been embossed with the Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  And what could be prettier than Pearls on the Always Artichoke Scallop Trim Border!
  • To bow..or not to bow! My original card sported a Lucky Limeade 1/8″ Organdy Ribbon bow on top of the Pool Party scrunchy bow…just to add a bit of “foofiness”!  But then, I decided maybe it was too foofy and removed it!  What do you think?

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. What do you think of this color combination?  And what about the Lucky Limeade snippet of ribbon?  Should I put it back on or leave it off?  Won’t you let me know in your comment?  Your comments are so important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create, or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  1. Just getting to your older posts now, but let me tell you that I think this card is just gorgeous! Love the artichoke with the limeade! So upbeat!

  2. Yup, I love the Pool Party with the 2 greens, softens the Lucky Limeade. Either way is pretty but I prefer without the bow also!

  3. This is SUCH a beautiful card, Ann! I love the combination of cards and all the texture. Thanks for popping by my blog! 🙂

  4. Gorgeous, Ann!! I love the color combination and using blue is such a perfect complement. My first thought when I saw the challenge colors was to use a neutral but I love what you did! I have yet to play but I hope to find time this weekend.

And I love the version without the bow – more striking and cleaner to me. But with it, it is just as stunning with a bit of whimsy. Lexi sends schnauzer roos to the Twins!

  5. Wow, wow, wow!! Your colors are beautiful as is the card. I do like the extra bow; the pool party behind it makes the perfect accent for it.

  6. Hi Ann, this card is gorgeous!! The color combination (baja or pool party with any of SU’s greens) is one of my favorites. The oval center with the piece of dp is brilliant, and the flower and leaves are lovely additional embellishments. I am very much in favor of the Lucky Limeade “foofy bow”. I think it is the icing on the cake!

  7. I LOVE this card! The colors go so well together. And, of course, your details really make it pop. As for the second bow, I prefer the care w/o it, however, I do like the bit of color it provides. So how could you add a touch of that color? Could you shirr this ribbon?

  8. The color combo is beautiful, bright, and fresh. I would never have thought to put Always Artichoke w/Lucky Limeade and Pool Party. I prefer the card w/o the extra bow.

  9. Lovely card! Every time I look at it I find another little detail I missed. This last time, I found the pearls at the end of the banner. Thanks for blessing my day. 🙂

  10. Not to bow, but I’d love either one!! Fantastic, Ann!

  11. The bow is the bomb-diggity, Ann! What a fresh and fabby color combo, too. All of your details just make the card POP. Super fantastic! I give this one two snaps and a big thumbs up…although I generally do that for all of your creations. Have a happy day! 🙂

  12. The card is beautiful– no doubt about that! Personally I like it even more with the green bow on too.

  13. Love the embossed panel in the center!

  14. Definitely wild and crazy! But, it works! The finished card is much better than I imagined. Lots of interesting details, for sure! I prefer it without the second bow.

  15. Ann, I never thought that these colors would look so beautiful together. The scrunchy bow, the lovely flower and all of those sweet pearls make this card gorgeous. Thisi s an Ann card for sure. 🙂

  17. you amaze me. love the details and the way you made such strong colors elegant! hugs, m

  18. Wonderful card, Ann; great combo of colors! The embossed pieces just make the card pop; I like how you put the DSP in the center of the Framelits piece. You have such an eye for detail! I think I like it w/out the extra bow. Thank you for the envelope video too! You rock!! Have a great day. Hugs.

  19. Love your inspiration to use Pool Party. It’s a fab combo. I like your card best without the extra bow. x

  20. Your card is GORGEOUS!! I don’t think I ever would have imagined Lucky Limeade paired with Always Artichoke, but you did it SO well!!! I say no “foofy” bow.

  21. Stunning, Ann! Love this color combination! I like it with the foofy bow added. Your sentiment banner is so pretty in the middle of your card … love it!

  22. Beautiful card – love the color combination! Myself, I prefer it without the extra bow.

  23. Ann, your card is beautiful with the greens and blue. I love the colour combination. I prefer the one bow over the 2 bows. It just seems to make a bigger impact on your card.

  24. I love this! When you make a curled end on your pennents, do you use a pencil?

  25. The Pool Party is great with the greens Ann. It really makes a statement. I prefer no extra bow as I love the pop of the Pool Party SB!

  26. You chose a great third color to use. And the card looks fine either way but I kinda like the extra little bow best.

  27. I’d say Pool Party was a great third choice, Ann. It works really well with those greens! Pretty, pretty card as always. 🙂

  28. this colour combo is spectacular ~ going to be CASEing this one for sure…is that okay…and I actually prefer the one without the extra bow! Oh how I love your creativity! Enjoy your day 🙂

  29. Anne,
Your work is gorgeous as always. The color combo is great as well. I might not have thought of the AA, but it does go well with the LL. For this card after viewing your samples a couple of times I think I would not put the additional LL on the BB crumpled bow. For once, I guess less is more.

  30. I like the “foofy” bow! I think it finishes the card. But it looked great with out the bow too!

  31. Beautiful as always! Love everything about this card. And I do like the card with the extra bow, it adds a little bit of omph!

  32. Beautiful, beautiful card!!! Just love it and love the bows!! So…to bow! Love those pearls too and I’m finally using more pearls on my cards thanks to you!

  33. I love the colours you chose for your card! Simply beautiful.

  34. I love the splash of green the bow adds! Lovely card, as usual, Ann!

  35. Hi Ann! What a fantastic card! I love how bright and cheery it is, like Spring is coming. This is a gorgeous color combo and one I wouldn’t think about. I love your embossed pp with pearls, the white flower sniped and scrunched, and that double bow (without the added green). Gorgeous!!

  36. Great card, I am loving these colors together. I happen to like it with the extra bow. Just adds a bit of color there but either way it is a wonderful card.

  37. Absolutely gorgeous! I love that little flair that the lucky limeade bow adds. It really ties it all together for me.

  38. I adore that scrunched flower and ribbon just as they are – no extra foof~! Love it!

  39. Gorgeous, fresh and spring-like card. Bow good either way. But I would like to know how to make the little flowers. I’d like to make this card today – absolutely wonderful.

  40. Ann this is amazing! These colors (for you) surprised me. Love the layout and details. I almost missed the framelit behind the oval. I love your details…. 8-).
I really like both with or without the second bow. One draws your eye to the pool party color and the second to the lucky limeade. Plus I see an extra PEARL with the two bows… hugs.

  41. Love this Pool Party combo! I’ve enjoyed your pearl placements on your embossed panel, very pretty! Love your scrunchy seam binding bows and what a great tip with the paper daisy! Your card looks fantastic omitting the organza lucky limeade bow. Just perfect!

  42. Love the colors Ann and I vote for the foofy bow, I think it just makes the colors “pop”. And look at all those pearls, wahoo! Lovely card.

  43. Love the added touch of color the bow gives, but not my favorite bow “shape”.

  44. Love this lively color combo…very springy! The embossed panel and frame are such nice attention getters…and I love your loopy bow without the touch of lucky limeade. Lovely card!

  45. Gorgeous card.
Me; I like the snippet of ribbon along with the pearl.
It gives it that little extra ‘pop’ of color in the center.
    ColleenB.

  46. Just as beautiful as I knew it would be! Love green and blue combos almost as much as I love green and purple combos. And I think I actually liked it better with the extra bow. I liked that extra little bright green on it. Either way it is beautiful!

  47. Who would have thought these colors would look so awesome together…at least the way you made your card it is. I love it! Bright and cherry and simply beautiful. I like it with out the bow but either way is stunning!

  48. Gorgeous colour combo, Anne! I think I prefer thae one with out the extra bow 🙂
