Thinking of You and a Video, Too

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week we are serving up a delicious helping of yummy colors for our color challenge! My card is a nostalgic design, combining curves and texture. It is a style I like to call  “Clean and Vintage”.  In today’s tips, I will give you a mini-lesson on how to achieve this look.  Plus, I have prepared a “Down Home” video to go along with it.  Enjoy today’s card…I was “thinking of you” when I created it!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Clean and Vintage

The finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Vintage through color! This card screams “1920’s”, with its muted tones of Poppy Parade and Pool Party.  Keep in mind that it isn’t necessarily the colors that characterize a vintage card…it is the “softness” of the colors!
  • Vintage through embellishments! Vintage cards are often a tactile delight!  Ribbons and pearls add to the experience.
A bow with softly pleated tails adds a sweetly feminine touch,
while the Scalloped Edge cries out for Basic Pearls.
  • Vintage through texture! The “Floral Image” from the Sale-A-Bration set, Fresh Vintage, was inked using Poppy Parade and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers. It was used to randomly stamp a Very Vanilla panel. Zipping the panel through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder softened the colors.
  • The finishing touch! The “Thinking of You” sentiment from Sincere Salutations was stamped directly onto the designer paper.  Tip:  For perfect placement, use a Stamp-a-ma-jig!

Ready to hear more about this Clean and Vintage card? Check out the “Down Home” video. Warning:  Be prepared for Brady Schach’s trumpet intro.  It is an eye-opening experience for sure!  Sorry Brady…I know Mom asked for it, but I think for the next video, we will just go without music!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card!  Won’t you leave me a comment and let me know?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  As always, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  3. Aqua and red must be a trend. I am seeing it everywhere, and it sure is fresh looking!

I’m glad to see you used a stamp from Sincere Sentiments (did I get the name right?). I love that set, and still use it.

  4. Beautiful Shabby Chic card!!! I have to admit I was a little scared of the color combo, but now I LOVE it!! I pulled those colors out and jumped in!! LOVE, LOVE LOVE!!!! Very nice!! Amy L. :C)

  8. I love this card!! I especially love how you stamped on the DSP. For some reason, I always think I need to stamp on white, but I love what you’ve done here!!

  9. Another gorgeous card! Really love how you use the lattice embossing folder over your stamped images – so much depth and texture is added with it. Brady’s trumpet was great…nice intro!

  10. Very interesting video–enjoy all your explanations. Card is just so my style–I love it. I need to find the time to enjoy some of my new SU products to make some new cards. Snow is headed this way tomorrow. It was a really cold weekend–we have gotten so spoiled with the mild winter. Have a fabulous upcoming week. D

  11. Clean, vintage and absolutely “Schach-tastic”! Sorry it’s been a about a week snce I have said it. 😉 Love our card, the pretty pearls, the rocking ribbon and the mix of texture and patterns. Just swesome! Loved that video but I would like to make one request. Please don’t skip Brady’s musical intro for the next one. He is so talented and I loved that you shared that. Hope your weekend was fun! Hugs! 🙂

  12. I think your “clean and vintage” style is my absolute favorite! I love how you’ved added your trademark vintage elements on this clean design. Love the pearls on the scallop trim and the ribbon is gorgeous. Great video and I LOVED Brady’s trumpet intro!

  13. What pretty colors and what a beautiful card, Ann!

  14. Great lead in for the video! Love your card. It would make a perfect thinking of you, birthday or thank you card. Great colors!

  15. Beautiful card, Ann, and a nice video intro by Brady! Love the soft feminine feel with all of the Ann Schach touches finished off with the pearls; had to chuckle when watching your video and your comments about using restraint on not adding pearls to the DSP flowers as I was just thinking about how that might look when your comment came through! My grandma’s sweet image came immediately to mind as she ALWAYS wore an apron; must have been common for that generation. Although mine are not as pretty as hers were, I have begun wearing an apron as soon as I enter the kitchen just to protect my clothes. Thanks for the great video, Ann; you spoil us with your time! Hope the Twins are doing well! Hugs.

  16. Beautiful card Ann. I had trouble getting to your site yesterday. Today I could see your card and was thrilled. I like your style “clean and vintage” along with the texture and the curves. Great way to display those new products.

  17. Nice introduction to Bradys music. I enjoyed your video very much. Love the ruffled ribbon and your style of “CAFV” Clean and Fresh vintage.

I hope I can play along the PP challenge.

    You Rock Ann!

    xo, Marian

  18. Ann, the intro was excellent! I love how you took clean and simple and vintage and mixed them together to make something that is reminiscent of our Grandmother’s aprons! Wouldn’t this make a beautiful Mother’s day card with an apron to match? Thanks for sharing your unique technique!

  19. Love your layers and your bow, too!

  20. Sweet – love the clean and vintage. Also, reminds me something my mom might have made for for me in grade school or before to wear. I had all kinds of dresses with the matching colored dusters but in a different pattern to wear to church etc. Of course the pearls are the perfect touch too. Sort of of the June Cleaver look with her apron and pearls on! I enjoyed the video too explaining it all. Plus, the joy of Brady’s interlude! Fun!!!
