CAS MAS for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday and time for this week’s The Paper Players challenge.  Anne Marie has selected a challenge that I am sure you will all love…Clean and Simple with a Masculine theme.  As for my card…it may not look clean…but it doesn’t get much simpler than this!   Enjoy today’s Clean And Simple MASculine card…a style which I refer to as “CAS MAS“!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  CAS MAS

The finished dimensions of this card are 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.

  • Texture! Use Textured Impressions Embossing Folders to add pizzazz to clean and simple cards.  With a strong pattern such as the Houndstooth pattern, the second pattern needs to be “cleaner”.  Stripes, a featured product in the Sale-A-Bration brochure, works perfectly to elongate the lines of the Sailboat image.  Tip:  Make those patterns “pop” by brayering on a light layer of ink.  I used Crumb Cake ink over Naturals Ivory card stock.
  • Bows-a-go-go! Bows can go on a masculine card, especially when crafted from Hemp Twine
  • No boat…no problem! I used the fabulous Sail Away sailboat image, an ala carte stamp from the 2011 Summer Mini catalog.  I inked it with Early Espresso Craft Ink and heat embossed it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  What?  You don’t have this stamp?  Don’t despair!  This image is also available for My Digital Studio! How cool is that!

And there you have it!  Clean, simple and masculine! What do you think?  Won’t you leave me a comment and let me know?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  And remember…if you ever have a question about the cards that I create, or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  20. This is a great card and so simple to do. Thanks for blessing my day.

Hey Brody – don’t you let your mom and dad do this – I think they’ve changed my name to Miss Snuffles! Just cause my nose makes all these awful noises and I sneeze a gazillion times in a row sometimes. They are going to find out tomorrow probably if I can have my name back cause mom is calling the vegetarian tomorrow. Bye Brody – sigh!

  21. Love, love, love the monochromatic color scheme, love the twine bow and really love the layers of embossed cardstock. Stunning!

  22. love this masculine card Ann-I struggle with these as well as cas. I just love what you have done with yours though-the ef’s are a great idea for guy cards

  26. Love the card, Ann; as already commented I love all of the textured and highlighted layers too! They really add body to a card. Another one out of the ballpark! Hope Muffy has had a successful week-end. Hugs

  27. Great masculine card. Love all the embossing. And I, too, love hemp twine for a guy card.

  28. Great card Ann. I had to read everyone’s comments. I assumed your brayered over the card – is that what you did or the folder? I, like Linda, had to go back and check for a pearl that maybe had been touched with brown in the middle of the hemp bow, just because you could do it! I think of a vertical card with the fold at the top when you want the image to appear taller in relation to the background. I never knew if there was any specific rule or reason. CAS MAS meant clean and simple but the MAS to me meant the Spanish word for more – clean and simple and more! I really love all the textures you have on there! Great job!

  29. A very striking man card Ann. All the texture along with the colours you used add to the details. This is great.

  30. It’s a great card! I love it! I have that stamp somewhere. I used it on a project a while ago and now the “spirits” in my house have hidden it somewhere. The case is empty.

  31. Fabulous card Ann, love the houndstooth EF and the way you made it pop with color. Tinting the edges of the layers really sets off everything. I love this sailboat stamp from SU too, it’s so peaceful and relaxing, h’mm wish I were on one now!

  32. This is GORGEOUS! And just perfect for the “manly man” class I’m having in May! Thanks for being so darn awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. Thank goodness you explained what CAS MAS was! Haaaa, haaa!! I love it! I LOVE all the different textures you used!!

  37. The card is beautiful as always, love your color combinations. I have some antique car sets & fishing stamp that I can incorporate into your style of card. Thanks for sharing, always look forward to your entries.

  38. I checked this card twice to see if you snuck in a pearl ๐Ÿ™‚ Great masculine card! Love the texture, the neutrals and that bit of twine!

  39. Ann, this is the perfect example of a masculine card. I LOVE all the texture ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorite part is the hemp twine – a great substitute for ribbon on the “boy” cards.

  41. I love the simplicity of it! Consider it cased!

  42. Hi Ann! Oh, this is fantastic! I love how you mixed the emossing folders for texture and brayered them. Can I ask you if you brayer inside the e.f. or after embossed on top of the paper? I’ve never done anything inside the folders and wondered about your technique. Whatever you do, it looks great! The hemp is a perfect touch too. This is a wonderful cas mas!!

  43. Love it!….masculine cards are always a challenge but this one is fantastic! ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. Love this card. I was sorry to see SU retire this stamp set. Love how you used so many SU products when you make your cards!

  48. Texture! Lots of texture on this VERY CAS card. I love it! I love mixing the different embossing folders but hardly ever do it for some reason. A really wonderful masculine card. Thanks!

  49. I love creating masculine cards and you’ve done a great job with this one Ann!

  50. Wow, that’s just fantastic in so many ways. I love it. Ann, I noticed some people are making their vertically oriented cards fold at the top instead of the side – is there an advantage to this?
