Whew! What an ordeal getting home from Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership Conference and the San Antonio Regional. Both events were fabulous…but the journey home was not. My flight, which was scheduled to land at 11:45 AM in Peoria, IL, was diverted to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. One bus trip and twelve hours later, I was safely in my kitchen!
I do want to share some of the things I learned and created in San Antonio with you. Today I have one of the Make and Take cards from the Regional. I must say it was quick and easy and cute, with a couple of neat techniques. I can’t wait to put my own special twist on it!
- “Leaf” me alone! The polka-dotted Lucky Limeade leaf (made with the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch) was created using the appropriate ink and the Dotted Kite from the Send Me Soaring stamp set. Isn’t that a nifty little trick!
- It’s “faux” easy! Stitching is a breeze for those like me who are sewing dysfunctional! All it takes is a White Signo Gel Pen and a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker. Tip: Use a ruler to help make your stitches straight and even. (Guess who didn’t do this!!! Oops!)
- Generous curves! The edges of this card were rounded using the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch. Tip: Corners a little rough? Smooth them out with a Designer Sanding Block! Look at the difference in these before and after pictures!

Before sanding the back edge has a small point |

After sanding, it’s smooth |
- Flower Power! Four Calypso Coral polka-dotted Heart Petals, punched with the Small Heart Punch, are perched atop two Calypso Coral blossoms which were created with the Blossom Bouquet Punch set in the middle. A Bitty Button with a Baker’s Twine bow completes the look. And where did this dotted paper come from? The Dotted Kite and Calypso Coral ink! Tip: Curl the edges of the petals up to create dimension!
Isn’t this a cutie patootie card? I like it because it takes me right out of my comfort zone. You don’t know how much I would have loved to spritz, distress and add a pearl right in the center of the blossom. But this is not the style to support this. Hmmm….maybe I should “schachify” it to see what it would look like! Be prepared for a CASE!

Ann the card is adorable and I just know you will schachify it soon. Love the polka dots (on anything!)and thanks for the tips.
The colors are bright and cheery for sure.
Muffy’s video was too cute. Love the look over the shoulder at the end. too funny.
I so wish your travels were smoother too. I have to leave for Mexico on Sunday (yuck) and EARKLY for work. I always worry about missing a connection and there is no time to spare changing planes. Plus Immigration and Customs on the return has huge LINES in Texas.
Hugs
All three of my dogs went bananas when Muffy started howling! lol Two ran outside looking for the perpetrator, and my Boston is standing on my leg looking at my computer and tilting his head this way and that! Too funny!
Glad you made it home, and I am sure you had a great time!! Muffy’s video cracks me up…what a ham!! Love your tips too, maybe I will have to get that kite set after all!
Sorry it took you so long to get home from your Stampin’ adventures! This card is so sweet. And thank you for all the little tips – the sanding blocks, and now I have to get that kite set. I love the little flower made with the hearts. Very clever!
Fabulous tips Ann, thank you!
Love the dog! Love the polka dots! Thanks for everything! 🙂
cute video; love the credits at the end…that was a nice touch.
What do you think Muffy was saying to that squeaky toy? sooooo funny!
Love the cute card. I don’t do stitching on my card very often but I love what it adds.
Your video gve me my laugh for the day. What a funny dog!!!
Great video! I loved it!
Sorry you had such a trip. I was thinking about you coming back home in that weather. My brother was at O’Hare that day too for a meeting and what is usually a 1 hour trip home took him 2 1/2 hours. Nasty weather. And Peoria is where his son goes to school.
Thanks for all the little tips. Beautiful card, too.
That little card is cute, but I know about the out of your comfort zone thing!
That’s so funny what B said about don’t play this if your dogs are asleep. They both came running. I played it twice. They wanted to know what the heck I was watching!lololol.
PS Glad you made it home safely!
Sorry about your trip. Everytime I hear these type of tales I feel grateful I don’t have to fly often.
Love Muffy, the Howlin’ dog girl. She is such a pretty pup and it cracked me up how she played to the camera.
Thanks for sharing the cute card. Really love the tip about using the heart punch as you did. Very clever!
BOL! (bark out loud)
Loved the movie title and credits.
So funny and cute!
Muffy, you have been nominated for an Oscar (not to be confused with Oscar the Terrible w/Sandi M). heeheee. Oh, and Squeakers for best Supporting Fish. 🙂
Olivia
I loved Muffy’s wagging tail-bit while howling!!! Too funny!
Super cute – and totally not you! And yet, you still pull it off perfectly! I can’t wait to hear more from your time at leadership -wish I could have gone.
That video is hilarious. My labs were going bolistic!!! They were running back and forth trying to figure out who was barking and who was squeeking!ROFL So Funny!!! You are a great video editor. My cats just ran away. (“oh no, not ANOTHER dog!!!”) The card is really cute – and sure, not your style, but really really cute! I love the idea of making the designer paper. Brilliant! Thanks for describing it. And detours on planes trains and automobiles. UGH! Glad you are home safely. Did you get your walk across the stage? xoxo
I’m happy you arrived home safe and sound. Luckily you enjoyed leadership so you had good memories on the long bus ride. When I heard Muffy howling it reminded me of our boxer when my older son was starting the clarinet in elementary school. Rocky would sit next to him and “howl sing” while he played. Luckily we have videos that continue to make us smile all these years later.
Ann I *loved* watching your Muffy video. She is beautiful and quite the chararcter. Does she howl often? Her howling made me laugh.
The card that you made is awesome. I love that you share how you, make your cards, hopefuly I will be able to stamp soon. There are so many wonderful SU products in the new catalog.
I’m so glad that you got home safe and sound but sorry to hear that it took 11 hours!
Mary
OH BOY! I heard you Muffy, I heard you! I am sitting on the couch and watching the video. You are so pretty. I love your tail. I have a feeling that Brody’s is so cute when it wiggles! ;)))) By the way – I can teach you how to destroy your toys in one easy lesson in less than 10 minutes! Just ask my mom – I’m an expert! Squeak! :))))) Woof, woof!
I (this is Shari speaking here) love the make-n-take you did. Have to try this flower. Thanks for blessing my day. 🙂
Sorry you had such an ordeal getting home. I hate it when the flights mess up your fun vacation. Love the adorable card. Stinkin cute! Thanks for all the great tips. I had the Soaring set on my maybe list, but it’s quickly moving to the definite list. So cool that you can use the kite to make your own polka dot paper. Please thank Muffy for the adorable video. I have 2 shih tzus that would love to play & howl with her. We love to howl as a family for fun. They seem to really enjoy it.
I love your video Muffy, you’re a star! I detect a bit of a ham when you look back after howling to see if anyone is watching, ha ha. You’re a cutie pie.
I love the card…of course I love everything you do. And “The Howling” video really made me laugh! Thanks for sharing!

What a wonderful card! Thanks for reminding me about my sanding block, too! XOXO
Cute card.
One of our boxers is esp enamored by squeaky toys too. But he has them torn apart within seconds, so he doesn’t get them very often.
Ann, I am laughing so hard at Muffy in her motion picture debut! Is she trying to wake up her squeaky toy or perform CPR on it. LOL! She’s so sweet! Your Regionals card is perfect, too. Mine had some opporunity. It was like I had never stamped before and let me tell you, I should never be allowed to use a white gel pen in an uncontrolled envionment again. Sigh! But I am buying that set as a result…heehee! 🙂
Love the video! She missed you, I know. When my cats heard her barking, they started looking around for a dog in our house!
Welcome home!
I so enjoyed Muffy’s movie debut. Will Brody have a starring role next?
Adorable card and I look forward to the ‘Schachified’ version.
Glad you made it home okay! It was good to finally meet you! Can’t wait to see how you spice up the m&t!
Glad you’re back safe & sound! That sounds like quite an ordeal!! LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOOVE the new techniques you used on this card….it’s so darned cute, I will have to CASE you!! I would love that for one of my Cancer cards I am making! Muffy’s cute! I loooove that look at you at the end of the video…too cute!!
Ugh…what an awful trip! Sorry you had to endure that, and hope you’ve rested up by now. Love the card..it is adorable! Such a hard style for me to achieve! And the video is howlarious! She just couldn’t get that toy to stop talking back to her! LOL
Glad that you arrived home safely. Thanks for sharing the make and take, that is a very cute flower. Muffy video was so cute, it got my girls howling in tune!
That card is so adorable. and Muffy sure did have something to say about that squeaky fish. lol.
Hi Ann,
what a funny video :)))
I think we´re all happy to have you back at home.
Love your card and the tips and tricks.
Have a nice day
Conny
Welcome back! Sorry you had to deal with O’Hare….it’s a nightmare! Glad you made it home safely. Love the card and thanks for sharing the tips! Can’t wait to try them out. Oh my, Muffy is so darn cute! Loved the video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Ann! Oh how funny! I got a kick out of Muffy’s movie, sounding like a coyote for a minute or two. I used to try to make my yellow lab do that when we would put on a wolf sounds cd in the car. (He only did it once.) I bet you missed those two wiggly tails! Glad you are home. How dreadful for you. Bet you had lots of time to brainstorm card ideas and ways to put your spin on them with that l-o-n-g bus ride.
I like you make and take card. The colors are pretty. Thanks for the tips too, will have to try those. Can’t wait to see your case! Welcome back!!
Welcome home! Sorry your trip back was a trial. Better on the way home then on the way out! Of course it would be better not to happen at all. Great card. Thanks for the tips. Loved the video. Muffy is vocal and the tail action is cute. Give her a hug for me. Brody too!
Love how the tail wags like a metronome while she howls! And that card is very cute!
Love your tips about the sanding block and the ruler. I didn’t use a ruler either, but then I like to make it look more like a doodle than not.
Muffy Lin is SO darn cute!!!!
Fantastic card.
Yum, was looking for a pearl smack dab in the center of the flower until I went on reading the rest.
Muffy…cute video
ColleenB.
Fabulous card, I love it, but totally adoring Muffy in her movie. You cannot let yourself be upstaged by a dog, Ann, come on!
Wow what a flight! My nephew was at O’hara too. Eighteen hours later he was on a flight home!
Love all your tips and sharing of one of the make and takes. What a great idea for the polka dot paper!!!
You sure got yourself a vocal girlie!!! Love her tail wagging as she howled. Too cute!
Glad your travel ordeal is over! Love the card – interesting and cute.
But mostly I love the video. Your dogs are so gorgeous, so sleek and elegant! I may have to change my retirement dog from a standard poodle to a boxer!
Welcome back Ann! Sorry it took so long to get home! I’ve been in a few of those situations and it’s not fun but I’m glad you are home safe! That card is adorable and I’d love to see how you would give it an Ann makeover! Muffy is so cute, my dogs had to come see what was going on in my computer! lol And your house looks just like mine with all the toys! They get them out but I can’t get them to put them away yet!
Love this card! I probably wouldn’t have known not to put a pearl in the middle of the flower. Love all of your little tips and tricks — it must take you forever to prepare a post everyday to walk us through your thinking! Thanks so much!
Warning, if your dogs are sleeping and you don’t want them to wake up right now, don’t listen to this film : ) I absolutely loved the little tail going – how cute. I see your dogs are as deprived of toys as mine are – we have three wooden laundry baskets of toys and only two of the dogs play with them. Can’t imagine why those darned dogs keep going out and buying more : ) The card is cute and thanks for the tips.
Oh my what an ordeal. Was the weather bad? Anyway, glad you are back safe and sound. I love every card you do and look forward to all of your great ideas each day that you post.
Have a great day.
