Vintage Elegance for The Paper Players

Sadly, it is the last Paper Players challenge for 2011, as the Design Team takes a well deserved two week break.  But the Paper Players will be back, refreshed and renewed,  in January to begin a new year of challenges!  As the hostess this week, I am treating you to a Clean and Simple Color Challenge based on one of my favorite classic color combinations, Cherry Cobbler, Gold, and Very Vanilla!  I hope that you will take time out of your hectic holiday schedule and play along!  And I hope you enjoy a peek at these products from the new Occasions MiniLabels Collection Framelits Dies, Hat Pins, Large Basic Pearls, Apothecary Art Stamp Set.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Easy Vintage Elegance

The finished card is 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.

  • Tempting texture! Finial Press and Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folders add a mix of patterns for a quick and easy eclectic look!

  • The Midas Touch! After inking with VersaMark, the image from Apothecary Art was heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The flowers were colored using a Blender Pen with Cherry Cobbler ink, while the leaves were colored with Always Artichoke! With heat embossing, the colors do not bleed as readily, making your job faster and easier!
  • Hat Pin Haute Couture! The new Hat Pins are perfect for adding a touch of vintage yumminess in minutes.  Chantilly Crochet Trim is scrunched right onto the pin and held in position with Mini-Glue Dots.  A Cherry Cobbler Ribbon Rose was added to the mix for a splash of color.  (See pictorial HERE for instructions on how to make Ribbon Roses using Stampin’ Up!’s Seam Binding.)  Of course, I  am in seventh heaven with the new Large Basic Pearls!
  • Christmas Wishes! The sentiment from A Christmas Carol was inked in Cherry Cobbler and stamped onto Very Vanilla.  After distressing the edges very lightly with Crumb Cake, the ends were flagged and the sentiment was placed into position on dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and the peek at new products.  I would love to read what you think in today’s comment. And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away!

Twin News

I know that Brody can’t wait to tell you about his latest show, where he went Reserve Winner’s Dog.  As for little Miss Muffy, she has been helping mom bake cookies and decorate the house…Boxer style.  She has been quite the naughty girl, pulling their stockings off the fireplace…AND she ran away from home.  If it would not have been so dangerous, it would have been funny.  She proceeded to stay one house ahead of me as I tried to grab her leash.  She would race up to each front door and stand, as if to say, “Help! Let me in! There is this crazy lady trying to dognap me!”  As soon as I would get close, off she would frantically race to the next house.  Luckily when she came to the end of the block, she allowed me to catch her. I explained the dangers of running off, which prompted her to put on her “pouty face”.

Oh well.  Moms have broad shoulders.  Until next time…

    1. Wow…this card still gives me a thrill. I was trolling your archives today and came across this very favorite Christmas Card (found you fab seam binding rosette tutorial too!). It’s going on the list of links to share the yumminess of the newest Apothecary Art/Label Framelit bundle. Some of the items may be retired but such a wonderful project is still so very CASEable especially with the new In Colors!
Thanks as always for sharing the talent Miss Ann.

    2. Ann, This is so beautiful. I love your use of the new items and that hat pin is perfection.

    3. Ann, This is so beautiful. I love your use of the new items and that hat pin is perfection.

    4. WOW! Brady’s music is amazing! The piano player is quite animated eh!!! Your son is alive and fresh and deep and reflective and pouncing and intense and dramatic and magical. I loved it! Great idea posting that Ann!~!!!!! We love our boys!

    5. Ann I have to go back and read the twin talk and then listen to the (I think your son because I saw music) – at least I hope it was Brady/Brody…omg I keep getting them mixed up – this must drive him mad! This card of yours is my absolute beyond fav!!!! It is glorious, it is sophisticated, it is a masterpiece! Everything about it is a vision. The colors, the cut out, the pins…An absolute piece of art! xox

    6. Ok, I’m still chuckling at Muffy’s litltle pout! How can you be mad at that sweet face? Ugh! Good thing she’s cute, huh?

Onward to this super-fantabulous card you created! Wowza!! Absolutely stunning, my friend. You always hit the shabby-licious deIails right on the noggin’, I tell you. I am trying to finalize my order from the mini and here you go adding to it. *sigh* Maybe the gnomes will teach me how to watercolor as well as you do. Hugs!

    7. Ann this is GORGEOUS! Love the way you colored the flowers and that seam binging flower with the GIANT PEARL??? Yeah baby!
This set and the dies are on the top of list, but I’m ‘trying’ to hold off until Jan! Hugs.

    8. Oh Ann, this is absolutely lovely! This set and matching dies is on my wishlist for sure!

    9. Your card is oh-so-pretty! Love it!

And love the story about Muffy. LOL Our last dog had to be on a very tight leash. She would escape out the door any chance she got and she could even escape out of the harness we put on her to take walks! And when she ran away her ears would go back and we always said she had such wild eyes. Like Muffy she would tease as we got closer and then take off again. Gotta love our pets!

    10. Ann, your boxer is just super sweet!!! I had to laugh so hard when I read your story….our Luke does the same.

Anyway, your card this week is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!! I LOVE IT ALL!

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season! Thank you so much for being so supportive of my cards 🙂 !!! Big hugs, ~S~

    11. Such a beautiful card and so perfectly you, Ann! Love how you’ve combined the new set with a Christmas one for a lovely effect. What a scare you had with Muffy–thank goodness she’s back home, pouty face or not!

    12. An absolutely stunning Vintage Christmas card. The color combo is beautiful as well as all of the details that you have added to it.My good ness it must have taken some tme to make this card and it shows!

I loved reading about the twins, Congratulations to Brody. He must be be very pleased with himself. As for Miss Muffy. I have to say that I agree with you……the little running away from home would have been quite funny had it not been a busy area. Still, I found myself smiling. I’m so glad that she is okay. I love her pouty photo. 🙂

    13. So glad you got Muffy back!! (And you got your exercise for the day, whether you had it on your schedule or not!) Your card is gorgeous, as usual Ann!

    14. Wow oh wow!! What can I say but just one word – beautiful!!!!!!!! Ooooh Muffy was a bad girl and that face she has put on – so much personality!

    15. What a beauty! This is an outstanding image and you’ve framed it so well! Your Muffy DOES have a pouty face…so funny!

    16. Such a beautiful and elegant card! Love how you put the ribbon on the hat pin.

    17. What a beautiful elegant card! Love the colors together! Nice touch with the hat pin! Sooooo Pretty!

    18. You knocked this one outta the park, Ann. The layers of texture from the embossing, the ribbon, the sweet posy, the lace…just a feast for the eyes. Enjoy your vacation…and have a very Merry Christmas!

    19. Wow! I always come here expecting to see something elegant and beautiful and I am never disappointed! I don’t know how you do it (but I’m so glad you do!)

    20. The pouting Muffy with her ears twisted back just cracked me up!! She looks like an 8-year old caught with her hand in the cookie jar LOL!!

Love your gorgeous card and I am so excited to see SU step up with these new dies. The crochet trim on the hat pin is a great look. And as soon as I saw the large size pearls in the new mini that arrived yesterday I thought of you, Ann!!

Thanks for the inspiration as always!

    21. Hi Ann! Oh, what a lovely card this is! SO pretty, so vintage. I am just super excited about the new labels SU! is going to have for us. I’ve wanted those for such a long time. The new stamp set is gorgeous too with your beautiful color challenge. I just can’t wait to see this new mini coming out. Thanks for sharing with us. As for Muffy, that look tells it all! Glad she decided to come home and is safe. I’ve had that happen to me as well and it is so frustrating. You just have to wonder what in the world they are really thinking.

    22. OH. MY. GOSH. I knew it! I just KNEW IT!!! This set wasn’t my “cup of tea” and the VERY. FIRST. CARD you make makes me want to have it! You are a bad influence Ann Schach! A VERY BAD INFLUENCE!!

    23. I love your card! The hat pin going through the crochet trim is a nice touch. Also, I appreciate the hint about the embossing helping to heat set the blender pen coloring. Did you lightly ink your embossed background? It looks like it has a little color.
My sister-in-law had the same adventure with her two dogs as you had with Muffy. Have fun!

    24. Ann,
You be careful chasing that dog!
You do not want to get hurt.
      Chris

    25. Ann, another absolutely gorgeous card! The two embossings look so good together. Love the crochet trim and seam binding scrunched together with the pin. Beautiful color combo and image.

A big hug and congratulations to Brody!

As for Muffy, girls just wanna have fun!

    26. I knew I was going to love this one! It is absolutely gorgeous! So elegant with the gold. Love the color challenge colors. Will try to get a card made this week.

    27. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

      Now on to the Muffy!

Excuse me – I get to talk here you know!!!!! Woof! Way to go Muffy

MISS DAISY! You have never run away so how can you say that this was a great thing!

“Cause – it sounds like waaay fun and I’m for fun. Can’t wait until Brody runs away – then you won’t be in so much trouble any more! hee, hee!

Oh , Miss Daisy – you naughty girl.

Pretty scary when our babies run away.

Hey Brody – congratulations! Woofie, sigh woofie! 🙂

Thanks for blessing my day with beauty from your hands, and fun from the puppies! 🙂

    28. Very elegant card, Ann, with all of the wonderful Schach touches! Oh, no! Are you really Cruella de Vil in disguise?? So sorry, I am not trying to be mean but your Muffy story cracked me up as images of Cruella popped into my minds eye. That is what comes of watching One Hundred and One Dalmatians with my 3 year old grandson several times over the past few weeks. I know you are really more the character of Anita! Hugs and have a wonderful week!

    29. Ann, I just love this card! It is so vintage and beautiful! I am anxiously waiting for the new mini catalog to arrive in my mailbox! I think it could arrive any day now!

    30. Wow, this is simply gorgeous. Love all the details. Thanks for sharing.

    31. Beautiful!!! Love all the new items you used on the card. When I saw those pearls, I know they would be on the top of your list. Did you remind Muffy that Santa leaves coal in stockings of bad little girls? I hate to say it, but I WAS smiling when you were telling the story. I’m so glad Muffy finally realized the grass is not always greener down the street and is home safe and sound.

    32. Oooo…beautiful card, Ann! The way you used the Hat Pin is the perfect touch to all the other elegant details!

    33. MORE beautiful than I thought!!
      Merry Christmas!
      Susan B.

    34. What rich Victorian glamor! I knew you would feature the hat pin and new large pearl as soon as your box arrived. Plus, all the extra stuff from the new mini – but another fantastic Christmas card – that I didn’t think about! So, glad you did, this is so pretty!

As for the fur babies – way to go Brody!!!! Now for our “litle” diva, I guess she just wanted her own adventure to tell her brothers about. Love that pout – she had better watch out she might find a lump of coal in her sock! Love the story.

      Happy Holidaze!

      Chris R. from Iowa

    35. Beautiful Ann. The colour combination just says “elegant Christmas”. The ribbon treatment is fabulous. I can hardly wait to get my order this week. And as for Muffy, Mom’s sometimes have to be tough.

    36. Very, very soft and pretty. I think your card has a little Victorian flair with the hat pin, lace and roses. Thanks for the peak at some new goodies, especially the new frame dies. D

    37. OMG!!!! This card is GORGEOUS!!!! I see a LOT of new things I just HAVE to have!!! 🙂 I love to hear your stories about your pups! We have a few (6) cats, but this year should be interesting….we have a 6 month old kitten!! We are putting our tree up today (too many things to get it done earlier)….I’ll have to let you know how many times Squeak (our kitty) gets into it! LOL!!

    38. Oh this card is soooooooooooooo gorgous! Love the hat pin! Great idea.
I am so glad SU is carrying these seperate from the whole kit.
I will have to copy your idea of course.
Muffy better watch out because Santa-doggie is watching!
      Woohoo for Brody!!!

    39. A beautiful holiday card, Ann! I locw the color combo and all the little extra touches you add to make your card the best of the best. Happy Holidays! Kathy in AZ

    40. Beautiful!
Girls just wanna have fun!! ;P

    41. Absolutely amazing – to say the least! My new items will be here this week and I can hardly wait to play with them. You have totally inspired me to watch out the window for the UPS truck!

    42. Just beautiful Ann! This is Vintage Elegance at its best! Love those new labels and the hat pin and ribbon is such a pretty touch! I think the new mini is going to get me in a lot of trouble!

Loved the Muffy story! I can so relate, our Sammy will bolt out of the door if he gets the chance and we have to go chasing after him! For an old dog he sure can move fast and will wear me out trying to catch him! Love the pouty look on her face, that is priceless!

    43. This is so beautiful, love the layers and the new labels

    44. First of all, so glad Muffy is okay! I’ve had neighbors’ dogs run out of their yards, and they didn’t even know. I knock on their doors to tell them the dog is gone, and then I see it takes a while to nab their pooch.

This card, oh wow! The wreath caught my eye right away, and now I see it is an upcoming image from the new Mini. I was wondering how this could’ve escaped my eye before in the previous catalogs! Beautiful work, Ann, really and truly.

    45. Oh this is beautiful! Love seeing the new stuff! The ribbon and hat pin are fabulous! And that Muffy Lin is rambunctious these days! Love the pouty face!

    46. Ann, this card is just exquisite!

As for Muffy’s adventure, I had to laugh when reading it. I had a similar experience, but I was in my bathrobe at 7 am! After 1 1/2 blocks, I gave up and turned around to go home, at which point Sammy turned around and followed me home and in the door. Go figure!

    47. Another beautiful card. Love how you used the new products. I got them in but haven’t tried yet. Loved your Muffy story. You just have to love them no matter what they do!

    48. Very pretty card Ann, those flowers look like they could “pop” right off the card, great coloring job and all the textures, sigh!

    49. gorgeous as always — thanks for the tip about heat embossing before coloring, i forget about my handy SU heat tool and embossing powders

    50. when I saw the new sets I just knew you’d be doing something very fabulous with them & you have ~ beautiful!!! thanks, you always inspire me… tfs, R 😉

    51. Sooo beautiful! The labels are so big and beautiful, they really make the whole card. Plus, I like your ribbon on the hat pin!

    52. WOW! Gorgeous card!!!! Very pretty and elegant and wonderrful color combination.
      ColleenB.
