It’s Sunday…and as we all know by now…it’s time to play with The Paper Players! This week the talented LeAnne has selected a fabulous trio of colors for Challenge #72. I know you will want to play along. So grab your paper, stamps and inks, and join in the fun! As for me, I inked up this cutie patootie from Gift Givers. I hope you enjoy!
- Dimension and texture! The “Snow Girl” image from Gift Givers was stamped twice onto Naturals Ivory card stock. The background image was “painted” with Dazzling Details and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds. The girl on the second stamped image was watercolored with Blender Pens and Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Blush Blossom, and Pretty in Pink inks. She was then snipped out with Paper Snips and adhered into position on the background image using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Basic Pearls were colored with a blue permanent marker and added to the snowy background for contrast.
- Flower power! Small Riding Hood Red blossoms were punched using the Boho Blossoms Punch, and given Basic Pearl centers. The Always Artichoke leaves are courtesy of the Bird Builder Punch. A Tiny Tag provides a perfectly “merry” touch!
- Flag it! The Riding Hood Red strip is given a little pizzazz by adding River Rock Dotted Scallop Ribbon edges and by “flagging” the end!
Behind the design: When working with a trio of colors, select one color to be the main color, one to be the secondary color, and one to be an accent color. For this card, I selected Always Artichoke as the main color, Riding Hood Red as the secondary, and River Rock as the accent! This way the colors compliment each other rather than compete. (Or as Muffy has just told me, there is only one alpha in the pack!)
Gift Givers, from the Holiday Mini, is a versatile set to own! Just look at the holidays for which it can be used! And if you love to dabble in different techniques, like I do, there are so many things you can do with it.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. It is one which can be completed relatively quickly, and it still has sparkle and shine. And how about this adorable little girl? Is she not a cutie patootie? Just perfect for saying “hello” on a winter day! So please, leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them. Of course, I LOVE to teach about the cards that I make and the techniques that I use, so if you ever have a question, I am only an email away! Until next time…

OMG this IS a cutie patootie! How cute is she….LOVE the striped dsp peeking out… just makes the whole focal point POP! Love the mix of DSPs and the textures and colors SO Christmas! Love it. Hugs.
Beautiful! I am just catching up with my blog browsing! Love all the finishing touches here!!
Love your layout and the attention to detail Ann, your card is stunning!
I do love the pizzazz you put into your cards, Ann! A real beauty here!
Gorgeous as ever! She is just adorable and your colors and papers are perfect together.
This layout is so cool Ann and I love all the patterned papers you’ve used! The little girl is so sweet and beautifully colored!
What a cute little image, I didn’t purchase this set. Love all the layers with this color challenge!
Love this, Ann! The DPs that you have used are so pretty together and I agree with you that Gift Givers is one versatile little set!
Yes, the little girl is a cutie patootie! Love how you layered her onto the bottom scallop. Great idea to color the pearls blue.
Hold the phone with the cuteness factor on this one, Ann! I just love that little lady in the stamped image ( I just used her yesterday, haha!) and you have really brought her to life beautifully. Hmmm, that embossed frame is a great touch. You just reminded me that I have them and have yet to use them. Someone *cough, cough* enabled me to buy them on a previous blog post. 😉
Your comment about “one alpha in the pack” has me chuckling. That’s a great rule for color combos…I have to remember that. That Muffy is a smart gal! Have a great day!
What a cutie patootie she is! Thanks for walking us through the details and what amazing details they are! Love the little Muffy quip in there! I guess I don’t pay attention to the “rules” either about color. Goes to show that you are the queen of cardmaking in my book, er deck rather! Dazzling diamonds do make the card dazzle. She is just a cutie plain and simple!

This card is beautiful; love the color combinations and layout, the cute girl image. Gives me an idea for my various holiday paper. Thanks for sharing.
This is just about as adorable as it gets! Versatility is the name of the game in the stamping world and you continually show uses for things I simply “must have”!
What a sweet card! Great job Ann!
Oh, this is such a jewel of a card, Ann! Love allllll the details!
Ann, a very lovely card and she is a cutie patootie. I love how you explained about how to use the colours, sometimes I find that so difficult. Of course the pearls and the dazzle adds to the whole Christmasy theme that you have. Hopefully I will get a chance to play along this week.
Wow Ann, love those little punches flowers and the use of the oval in the background! The image is so adorable and sweet!
Love this card – the traditional colors, that adorable stamp and as always the added elements that take it up notches. Beautiful.

That little girl is so cute and I like the treatment for the background behind her. I really like the color combo for a holiday card. Thanks for the tips about primary, secondary and accent color choices–that Muffy is one smart dog! Hang on to your hat with all the wind in the Midwest. It is strong enough here to knock one over. Dar
Awww, she is so cute! Nice and sparkly, perfect papers.
Wowzee! I think this card is so lovely. The card really takes alot of stamping products to create. Thanks for taking the time to share all the details. I love the River Rock as an accent. It really is a stunning accent color to this card.
Another beautiful card, Ann! Love the color combo and your attention to detail. You always amaze me. I look forward to your blog everyday. Kathy in AZ
This is so pretty. So much going on, but not overwhelming at all. Love the touch of the crochet ribbon also.

Beautiful Ann! I like how you made the little girl in layers. You card has so many nice details and texture too. Love your tip about the 3 colors. I don’t think I really think about that and will need to pay more attention and follow the rules. lol! Thanks for sharing with us.
