Poison for the Pals

It’s Thursday and time to play with the Pals at Pals Paper Arts! This week our challenge is one of my favorites…Halloween!  I decided to fore go something cute in lieu of something a little more creepy.  So I inked up the “Poison” sentiment from the new set, “Piece of Poison”, found in the Holiday Mini and pulled out the Pick Your Poison Designer Series Paper with its coordinating Quick Accents. I then set to work brewing up this vintage potion.  I hope you have your antidote ready for this elixir! Enjoy “Poison for the Pals”!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Vintage Halloween

  • Dazzling Details! What could be better than glitter glue to easily add sparkly details! I outlined the flourish on the Pick Your Poison Designer Series Paper with Stampin’ Up!’s new Dazzling Details.  It’s so easy!
  • Pop up the “P”!  After adding Dazzling Details and Cajun Craze highlights, the “P” in the Poison sentiment was snipped out and popped atop Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Pearls! The vote is in, and the “eyes” have it! I could not pass up “pearl-eyezing” the Skull, as well as the Antique Brad and card base corners.
  • Rosette! A 1″ x 12″ strip of Pick Your Poison Designer Series Paper was scored every 1/4th of an inch using the fabulous Simply Scored Tool.  A First Edition Scallop Circle, distressed and crumpled, tops it off.  (It does look like my rosette is a little crooked, and unfortunately I gave the card away and can’t fix it and re-photograph.  I hate it when that happens.  Arghhh!)
  • Vintage Touches!  Even Halloween cards can go vintage.  Curl the corners! Distress the edges! Add a snippet of tea-stained Victoria Lace! And how did I achieve such wonderful tea stains?  By using the Tea Stain Ink Spot and the Flat Stamp from the Distressing Essentials kit.
What do you think of my Halloween card?  Leave me a comment and let me know.  Of course, I can’t wait to see what Halloween cards you conjure up!  And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!

  4. Ok, so I popped by the PPA today and wondered exactly how I missed this beauty when i visited your blog earlier! This is shabby-spooky-chic! Yup, it’s a new term and you , my friend, have created a masterpiece! Who knew pearls could be scary? As always, your details are beyond amazing, Ann! You need to start casting some “creative spells” on to the rest of us by waving that Color Spritzer around in the air! Bibbity-bobbity- BOO! 😉

  5. I absolutly LOVE your card. Unfortunately Halloween is not very popular in Germany. I always try to talk my kids into celebrating Halloween parties, but they don´t want to 🙁 So I don´t have no excuse anymore for buying halloween stamps and designer paper. Too bad.

  6. As always wonderful work (do you ever make bad cards?) When I saw the DSP I thought how can that be used, well you showed me. TFS

  7. Love the pearls in the corner! Great idea!

  9. Who knew that a Halloween card look so beautiful! My gosh Ann,you certainly put a lot of work into this card and it shows. I love the way that you curled the edges of your your DP, the flower that you made and the pearls that you added. You are such an inspiration. 🙂

  14. Spooky/sweet? Whatever! I just couldn’t figure out how you wuold use the crocheted ribbon in this but it works and that tea staining is just really cool on this card. Those eyes of pearl are sort of haunting – what color are newt’s eyes – black? I love the corners curled up with the pearls. I am still not decided on the skull and such. Thank goodness you didn’t bling the rat yet in the set. I have had two live bats in our house the last two weeks so I am a bit tired of spooky and such. Fun card!
