It’s Sunday and welcome to my Paper Player post. This week the uber-talented Anne Marie Hile has created a fabulous sketch. Having designed a few clean and simple cards in a row, I decided to try my hand at an ultra-feminine collage card. I hope you enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: A Circular Collage
Today’s card is: 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long.
- Anchor your design! Every circular collage needs an anchor. Since I wanted a feminine card I wanted a feminine “anchor”. My choice was to snip a doily from the Flirtatious Designer Series Paper. I used the white side and brayered on Very Vanilla ink to change it to a hue in this card’s color palette.
- Select a larger focal point! Since the Silhouette from Forever Young is very small, I framed it. And then to add even more size, I framed the Forever Young Frame within the Oval Designer Frame created with the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
- Balance! Smaller elements were then added to balance the design. I selected a cute Postage Stamp from the Beau Chateau Side Notes, the Dress Form from Established Elegance, and snippets of flowers from the Floral Spray from Elements of Style.
- Distress! A Sponge Dauber and Soft Suede ink were used to distress all edges and add to the vintage look.
- Do over! As I looked at this card while writing this post, I thought to myself…”Hmmm! Something is missing.” So I broke down and added a few…pearls.
Sometimes husbands can be so precious. As always, after I created my card I had my husband, Kim, take a look at it. He really liked the pink “Dummy”. “Dummy?” I said. Then it dawned on me…he meant the Dress Form.
And sometimes, puppies can be so irritating. As I was writing today’s post, a freshly bathed and show-groomed Brody James Schach decided to explore the not-so-clean fireplace. He has been mesmorized by it the past few days, and I can only assume that we have birds down the chimney. He shoved the fire screen out of place, and was able to position the front half of his body inside. Note to self: Remove the stylish fire screen and put the doors back on.
I hope that you enjoyed today’s card. Remember…it will be heading off to a randomly selected winner. Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. I also welcome your questions about the cards that I make and the techniques that I use. I am only an email away. Until next time…

I love that I am comment 50! Wow! You are so awesome Ann! This card is outstanding this week, I love the way the pink pops and the way you have clustered all of the images.
I love your take on a feminine collage card. So pretty with all the layers. Puppies do the darndest things don’t they?
Beautiful of course! Love all the little bits that you added. Hope the twins had a good weekend.
Simply lovely!! And LOVED your husband’s comment on the “dummy”! Too funny!

Have a great week!
Another fabulous card! Love all that detail. You are one talented lady. Appreciate the sharing you so willing do. Hope you had a great weekend and hope the twins did well.
Ann this is STUNNING! The colors and techniques you used are amazing. I love the multi-framed image, and the fussy cut flowers are perfection with those yummy pearls. But that dress form LOVE It! Oh I just LOVE that dress form, (is that retired?). I have a dress form but totally different.
GORGEOUS! Hugs.
Amazing. I love how you add elements to to the card and it never looks thrown together. It’s easy to see your cards are well thought out. Beautiful. Gotta love that Brody. Easy for me to say cause I didn’t have to give him another bath!!
Stunning! You’re so talented. xo, Marian
Another wonderful card, Ann! Poor Brody! Poor Ann! If it makes you feel any better, my 3 dogs got “skunked” or sprayed by a skunk. OMG! I had to bathe them in tomato juice to help cut the odor…looked like murder was being committed in my bath tub as it was night time! My white dog was pink for a while! Life can hand us some real curves, but now I can laugh about it. Good luck with the show.
Oh, so beautiful, Ann!! I’m in love with my Beau Chateau paper and side notes and appreciate the inspiration your lovely card provides!
Ann, Lay off Kim!! As a man, I wouldn’t know what the heck to call a dress form either! They don’t have those at the BNSF shops where he works!
Chris
Another gorgeous creation. Love everything about your card, the layers and the vintage style. TFS
Oh my! See? I knew I would love it!!! That little cluster of flowers is just darling and even BETTER with the additions of pearls! Just GORGEOUS!!!
I love it! And yes, it needed the pearls.lol 🙂 As I was looking it over I was thinking you could have added one or three….and you didn’t disappoint me! It’s truly beautiful!!!
Stunning! This card has a real “cameo” look, I think. Especially the white oval frame with the silhouette inside.
This is a beautiful card and I love how you used the DSP and the dummy! :)))))
Woohoo – Brody, way to go! I got in trouble yesterday for depositing some of the trash from Gordon’s room in you know who’s bedroom! Boy was she upset. Of course if I would have been smart I wouldn’t have made so much noise going back into the trash basket after I’d so stellfully knocked it over! Of course it was all HER fault because she forgot to close Gordon’s door! How do you like that for passing the buck!
Thanks for blessing my day! 🙂
this is so stylish & elegant; thank you for having a vintage feel to your cards.
gorgeous! gorgeous! gorgeous! So very feminine and so vintage is right! I love it! You pull this off so beautifully. Thanks!
This is stunning. I literally said “wow” when I saw it!
stellar!
Love the pinks and blues in this vintage beauty! You do this look soooooo well……
Wow! Your card is amazing! I love all of the layers and details! Thanks for sharing:-)
Inky hugs,
Janet
Ann, it is feminine and so detailed and it kept me looking at it and admiring it for a long time. Fabulous use of all the elements. I love that you added so much layering, and yet it doesn’t feel bulky. Fabulous
hugs

I don’t even have any words for this one. I’m just glad that my plain Jane card isn’t sitting beside it on the PP blog. 🙂 Wowzers. LOVE the husband story! Ha! Our cats like to get in the fireplace too. I find little sooty paw prints in the living room sometimes. Thankfully they are self-cleaning. ::)
I love it! I love collage cards but have trouble making them thinking too much or not enough at times. Yours, is just right! Love all the colors too. So, that pink is the card stock with clear embossing powder over it for shine? Otherwise, I didn’t see it in the description or missed it. Love the comment from your husband. Mr. Brody had to get into some type of trouble without his sister being there. Thanks for adding the pearls – they were the perfect touch in my opinion.

Ann, this is just gorgeous! Each of your elements is so well thought out and perfect. Your collage is just fabulous.
That is an absolutely gorgeous card. I loved it!
OMG….your husband makes me laugh!! He reminds me of mine. My husband would say something like that…too funny!! I love the way you described HOW you arranged this collage card!! Thank you for doing that! That’s the hard part for me….figuring out what to add and where to add it so it looks fantastic and not like a jumbled mess…lol!! I absolutely LOOOOOVE the way you did this card!! Now if only I could learn your skills….that’s my hope and dream!! :O)
Just gorgeous! You have the knack of fussy-cutting for sure! Hope you got the pup cleaned up! Uh oh!
I LOVE collage cards, and make them all the time. The composition of this card is superb…lots of layers, textures, the dots, the color palette…super job, Ann. Not everyone could pull that off, but you did it with style!
Collage style stamping is so trendy now. You did an amazing job. Love all the elements especially the “dummy”–lol! I think this card is so beautiful and one of your best. D
I am speechless when I saw your card. And the reading the description on all the detailed elements you added are just beyond words. OMG, there are so many elements one would need to make this card, ie DSPs, stamp sets…this is truly a masterpiece. Thanks Ann for sharing your creativity with us.
OMG, this is so beautiful. LOVE it. The pink, blue, cream, black combo with these images is so great.
Oh my, this is gorgeous! Do you use scissors or a craft knife to cut out your images when you don’t have a punch? Thanks!!
This card is GORJUS! I am lousy at the collage cards so I’d be super excited if I won this one!
What an absolutely gorgeous card in true Ann style! I love all of the little details. You are really the master of the vintage loo! Kathy in AZ
Ultra feminine and stylish! The pearls on the flowers give the card the final ‘Ann’ touch. Love the collage look and pink ‘dummy.’ Your husband is too funny. As for Brody, boys will be boys.
Absolutely gorgeous …….love it!!!!!

Very pretty, and love that ‘dummy’! Ha ha! I add pearls a lot too, and my 13 YO tells me it’s much too often. LOL
Great card, Ann! And that sketch is pretty yummy, too. Might have to try my hand at that.
Wow! Another masterpiece. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
Ann, this is truly a work of art! If I am the lucky winner, I would put it in a frame and display it proudly! This is just breathtaking!!

Naughty Brody…he must like his bath’s so well he found a way to get another. ha!
This is even more beautiful than I expected! So very elegant and stunning! Love all the wonderful details! You have outdone yourself again!
Loved the Brody story, how typical of little boys, both human and canine!
This card is absolutely lovely. Each detail layered on the next is in perfect balance. I have to say this is by far my favorite card I have seen this month on any blog! (and I follow a bunch…hehe)
