The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Create Your Own Background Stamp
- Make it! The Zoo Review stamp set was on my first order from the new catalog. However, it has taken me this long to ink it up, simply because I was searching for the perfect background for it. This past weekend, I finally viewed the Workshop Wow DVD that I purchased at Convention. And lo and behold, Julie Moenck demonstrated how to make animal prints using left over rubber. It was so easy.
- All I did was take the extra rubber from three clear mount sets and cut it into geometric shapes. I adhered them to my “F” Clear Block, and ta-da…instant animal print. Of course, this can also be used to create a stained glass mosaic for the holiday season.
- Color it! Ahoy there…are those Black Pearls I spy? A black permanent marker transforms ordinary Basic Pearls into colorful gems!
- Add the unexpected! French Foliage Leaves were heat embossed with Pewter Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A sponging of Tempting Turquoise ink adds an unexpected “pop” of color.
Although this card could be used as a masculine card as it stands, you could easily remove the leaves and the pearls for a more rustic look. So what do you think? Won’t you please leave me a comment and let me know. Of course, I LOVE answering your questions about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use. Remember…I am only an email away! Until next time…

How fun! Such a great idea for the background and then for a mosiac too! The leaves are a fun touch, we all know they eat leaves! Plus, it gives a touch of color. Love the touch of pearls too. Just a great, fun card!

I really LOVE this card! I’m an animal lover at heart. Thanks for showing me a grown up card using this set!
What a great idea to use up the “extra” pieces from the stamps for a clever background. The leaf embellishment is a great addition.
I love your background, Ann. It is very authentic looking.
Oh my what an ingenious way to use extra rubber! Your card is amazing and would look great framed and hung on a wall or shelf. LOVE it!!

Wowsers!! Even more pretty than I thought it was going to be, what else should I expect though from you!?! I have made some tile, brick, animal print, and mosaic stamp backgrounds with my leftover rubber!
I’m lovin’ your dirty and simple card! I like this set and how you did your giraffe! Stunning, Ann!
What a great idea for your background! I could do that with Zebra shapes for Mackie, she would love it. Thanks so much for sharing all of your beautiful work. We really love the giraffe.
Love that background Ann! I have a whole bag of scrap rubber just waiting for some inspiration. You’ve created the perfect BG for that beautiful giraffe. Stunning as always!
This is fabulous! Great technique – and a beautifully haunting image of the giraffe.
Ann… I just got this stamp set on Friday!! You make it look so Beautiful. I love all the different elements you used to bring it all together. Don’t forget if you get a chance to do my Halloween blog hop, week 6 starts tomorrow.
Hugs
Shirley
Love the background – thank you.
The mosaic really looks good and simple to make. I wonder how easy/difficult to clean them without them coming off. Any advice based on your experience would be helpful. I really like how you place the pearls. I tried using SU markers once to “color” the pearls but they didn’t turn out. Now I know to use permanent markers. I’ll have to try that. Thank you Ann for these tips.
This is absolutely wonderful, Ann! All your elements are fantastic – love the black pearls, the leaves and the animal print in the background. Funny – I just started watching that DVD myself last night. I have to present a technique at our Extravaganza this weekend….probably going to go with the bleaching.
Wow Ann!! Always knew I had to have this stamp set!! What a gorgeous card! Love how you did the background – patience plus to place all those rubber pieces!!!
Hope the twins are good!!
This card is gorgeous….little surprises keep popping up in different areas. So very creative.

Shhhhh – Miss Daisy is still under the covers and if we don’t make too much noise she will stay there until at least 6:30.
Ann,
This is gorgeous! All the details in this card are beautiful. My favorite is your leaf cluster. The design and colors really take this card to the next level. Wow!
See, I knew it would be amazing! I LOVE the background. I bought a wood block a few weeks ago to do the mosaic tile technique, but I still need to cut up the rubber. Never thought about making animal print with it too! 🙂 Very clever idea and it looks super with that giraffe. I LOVE giraffes and have had the chance to pet one and let it eat out of my hand. It was way cool!

This is a simple but stunning card, Ann! I love it!
