Summertime for the Pals

Welcome to this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge! We have a theme challenge planned for you…It’s Summertime, and the Livin’ Is Easy!  For my summertime scene, I selected an image from the new set, Little Friends!  Because I was pressed for time, I opted for a quick and easy card, allowing the watercolored image to be the major focus.  And just how does this fit into a summertime theme?  Why in my imagination, this little tyke is having his own parade!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Focusing on the Image

  • Watercoloring with blender pens! How quick and easy it is to touch the tip of a Blender Pen to an ink pad and then color an image! The inks used for this little guy were:  Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight.  Sahara Sand was used for shadowing. The image itself was stamped with Early Espresso Craft Ink and heat embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

  • Mat-magic! The central image was matted onto Cherry Cobbler card stock, and then onto a larger mat of Naturals Ivory.  Of course, instant speckles were imparted using a Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker!  Popping the image up on Stampin’ Dimensionals brings it to the forefront.
  • Well Worn! No need to distress when your Designer Series Paper is already “Well Worn”! Don’t you love it!  The muted colors once again allow the focus to fall on the image.
  • A tailored bow! A tailored bow compliments rather than detracts from the image.  Cherry Cobbler Scallop Dots Ribbon is the perfect choice to draw our attention back to the Cherry Cobbler shirt, wagon and pennant.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  For those of you wanting an option which is quicker to make than some of my other designs, this is a viable choice for you!  What do you think?  Won’t you please let me know by leaving me a comment?  And remember…if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…

My grandchildren left for home in Missouri today after an 11 day visit and I miss them already. Your card is like seeing my little angel Brain (2 1/2) … ALL BOY!
    I LOVE everything about it.
I going to try to catch up on everything I missed in blog land, as I only peeked once during their stay.
