From the moment I saw Button Buddies, I knew this was one set I “needed”. It is definitely not my usual vintage stamp of choice, nor is it one that I would water color or emboss resist. I just thought it was cute. Period. I thought the “Flowers” stamp was the perfect choice for today’s Paper Players Color Challenge, as were the Baja Breeze and Poppy Parade patterns from the new Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper. I hope you enjoy today’s card!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Start with a good sketch! I searched for one which would allow me to showcase the patterns from the Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper I selected. I decided on this fabulous one from the Mojo Monday archives.
- A touch of the unexpected! Stampin’ Up!’s Grid Paper, adhered to Whisper White card stock for strength, makes an adorable background for the Flowers image! The vase was stamped twice, snipped out, and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. Of course, everything goes better with pearls!
- Houndstooth! Crumb Cake card stock was zipped through the Big Shot with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die. The Large Scallop trim was then embossed using the new Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Topping it off is a Basic Gray Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border, stitched with White Baker’s Twine and a snippet of Crumb Cake Seam Binding.
- What a difference three pearls make! After I photographed my card, I thought the Baja panel looked a little plain. Three large Basic Pearls were added…
and now it looks “pearl-fect”!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card AND I hope that you learned a little something new from my tips. I am so looking forward to sharing EVERYTHING I learn at Convention with you. And you know what…several of you have convinced me to take my laptop with me. So I am going to give it a try!
My house looks like a whirlwind has hit as I try to finish up my PPA design team cards before I depart for Convention. I still have one card to make, posts to write, Twins to bathe, and a house to clean…all before Monday afternoon. Whew! I am so looking forward to Convention as a welcome getaway! As always, your comments are important to me. Of course, the teacher in me loves answering your questions about the cards that I create and the techniques that I use…so never hesitate to email me with your questions! Until next time…

Beautiful, Ann! I love the embossing, buttons and the touch of pearls!
just had to comment on this beautiful card, so delicious!
LOVE your touch of the unexpected! Looks great on this card.
Gorgeous details, Ann! Love the addition of the pearls. Funny how they really ARE the perfect touch on all of your creations. I love how you used the grid paper, too. What a fun addition. Can’t wait to try it out….I have a new pad, just waiting to be broken in. Lol! Have a great trip! ๐
Oh Ann, this card is delightful! Love all your details as usual but my favorite part is your use of the SU grid paper!!! OMG, how clever and it looks adorable as a BG. Fab idea my friend. Have a fabulous time at convention!
Ann you are so right! This card is PERFECT!
Love the bakers twine stitches and the little vase is adorable.
The pearls are the icing on the cake! Wow.
One more week with my little angels so my comments will be few…Hugs.
I really like this card! I love the grid paper addition! I never would have thought of that.
I enjoyed your card today. Yes the three little pearls can make a difference, but your card was beautiful with or without them. I have to tell you I use your bow maker all the time. I don’t have to guess at what size to use, you did that for me. It works perfectly everytime.
Safe travel to Convention! I am packing today! Maybe I will meet you in person!

Wow … looove the grid paper, I started searching through my book looking for that stamp before I read your post … duh! What a fantabulous idea, love it … of course I love the pearls too, everything you have added here to create your design is just great!!! Love it …
Perfect use of the color challenge, Ann!!! I love this card and you’ve convinced me that I need this set as well LOL!! Like you, I prefer vintage/distressed cards, but was struck by how fun this set is (plus I could use up be huge stash of buttons as well). Best of luck and have fun at convention!
Your card is beautiful Ann. It is different from your “your” style but then ahgain when I look at your card I know that it is an Ann card. ๐ You always add so many details to what you create. I love the stamp set and have it on order. I have been waiting for SU to come out with a stamp set using images that we could add buttons to. One question for you. Where is the Grid paper located. I have looked in the catalog and can not find it. I can wait for the answer. I read that you have lots to do before you leave on Monday for Convention. I love grids of any kind becuase I like using them when making Shabby Chic cards.
I hope you have a fantatsic time at theconvention Ann.

Amazing how adding three pearls can give a card that extra something…absolutely gorgeous! Hope you are doing well…sending my best!
Fabulous card Ann!!! You have a wonderful time at Convention!!! Hugs,
Well, that is the first thing I thought when I saw this card–that it is super-cute, but not your typical style! I LOVE the grid paper—I would never think to use that! Clever and fun!

Really cute card. As I’ve said before (and will probably repeat myself again), everything you add to your card front fits with everything else. Great!
Awesome card! Love the colors (I hope I can find some time soon to create a card with them) and I never would have thought of using grid paper on a card. Great idea! I love Button Buddies too!
What a great way to show off how embellishments can really “make” a card!
Hugs, M
