A Peek at the Players

It is time for your Saturday peek at this week’s Paper Players card.  I really liked how it turned out, and I hope you will, too! I used new designer paper, a new embossing folder and a new stamp set.  So please make certain to join me in tomorrow’s reveal!
I would like to thank everyone who left comments on the Summertime Blues card.  However, there can only be one winner.  And the winner, as randomly selected is:

#52 The Stamping Lady
“Awesome interpretation of Summertime Blues. I can just see that chair sitting out on the front veranda. It’s a stunning card with all the different elements–love the flower and use of the lacey border punch. D”

Dar, if you will email your address to me, I will get your card sent right out to you! And if you didn’t win this time, there will be other opportunities, as I plan on sharing more of my cards with you!

Brody Update

The serum eyedrops seem to be helping Brody’s eye.  However, we are still not out of the woods, but at least it is a step in the right direction.  Here is the latest picture:

What a mug shot! However, you can see that his right eye looks smaller than his left.  He is still squinting, but at least it is open much wider than it was.  He received his first drops on Wednesday.  The Twins turn 11 months old today.  Brody is weighing in at 65 pounds, while Muffy is 60 pounds.  If his eye is back to normal, Brody will be in the ring next Friday.  If not, he will be sitting this show out.

As always, your comments are important to me..and I am so sorry that I am so far behind in responding back to you.  Hopefully I will be able to get all caught up by Sunday.  I still have two PPA cards to complete before I leave, and my posts to write-up.  Which leads me to a question…Is it difficult to fly with a lap top?  The TSA site made it look like it is a hassle.  Since I will be by myself, and carrying my luggage on, I don’t want to be burdened with a lot of  extra stuff, nor do I want to have to go through extra steps passing through security.  So…what do you experienced fliers think?  Until next time…

  1. Ann, Flying with a laptop is exactly as Anne Marie said. Easy and you just take it out of it’s case during the initial security screening. If you’re hands are full as ours was than they will help you take the laptop out of it’s case. What a sweetheart Brody is and did he ever grow up. Have fun.

  2. Hi Ann, so sorry about Brody’s eye. I just wanted to tell u the last time I flew (may), at security check you have to have ur laptop out of any bag for them tho be able to scan or xray it. Hope that helps! I’m not going to convention. I decided I needed a bed more. Thx for all ur help & input.I hope you’ll have lots to share with me when you get back! Have a wonderful & above all SAFE trip. How are the twins gonna do without you!
    God Bless, Ginger

  3. I’m so far behind in the blogging world. I hope Brody heals quickly! That mug shot is adorable … such a handsome boy! Have a fab time at Convention!

I’m lovin’ what I see on your sneak peek!

  4. The card – well, can’t wait to see all the new goodies involved to making the card! What a sweetie, Brody is! He needs a little chuck and scratching under that adorable chin! Hey Brody, if you go to spend time with Daisy – let her take care of you and just enjoy some little cuddle time and not play too hard. Somehow I can see Muffy instigating some hard play just to keep you under her thumb, I mean paw! As far as the computer goes – you know your limitations on what you can carry and manage….will you be buying stuff to bring back too? Consider that. Putting it in the bin isn’t the problem with me – it is carrying and juggling of items! Have a great time!

  5. Hi Ann, I fly often so that I can see my kids and grandson. Always carry on my luggage and laptop. It isn’t too bad, just be sure to place the laptop in one of those gray bins all by inself–no need to remove batteries. Remember to take off your shoes, I forgot to wear socks once-ick! I know you are going to have a wonderful time! Just take time to enjoy and remember to breathe. Dar

  6. Is that SU!’s grid paper I spy? 🙂

Can’t wait to see the reveal tomorrow. So glad to see that Brody’s eye is doing better and best wishes for his continued recovery!

As a very experienced traveler, flying with a laptop is easy – all you need to do is pull it out and place it in its own bin as you go through security (make sure no other items are in that bin such as the plastic baggie with your liquids, etc. which must also be taken out as other commenters have posted). No need to take the battery out of the laptop.

As a precaution, I usually take off all my jewelry and watch before I get in line and put it in a small clear sealable bag (i.e. the ones you can buy in craft stores) or those cute organza bags with the drawstrings and put the bag into my handbag before it goes through security. This way I don’t have anything on me that could trigger the detector. Then once I sit down at the gate, I put my jewelry back on. Saves me the worry of losing stuff along the way or misplacing them in my bag if everything is corralled together neatly.

Have a wonderful time at Convention! I’m just sorry I couldn’t go this year.

  7. Ann, I’ve made dozens of business flights carrying a laptop. Consider the extra few minutes required to pass security as a necessary evil, much like putting your liquids in a clear plastic baggy. You now have two things to pull out of your bags and put on the conveyor. For me, the worst part of traveling with a laptop is carrying that extra weight around. I carry my laptop in a backpack to help distribute the weight and keep my hands free.

I’m thrilled that you will be at convention! I am going for the first time. I would LOVE to meet you! I subscribe to your blog for daily inspiration! I love hearing about the twins and Brady’s accomplishments.

  8. Whimpering reply from “you know who” . . . . I am so sad that your eye isn’t better yet. I am too small to give you a hug but I could lick your face and keep it clean and I promise I won’t touch your eye! Oh dear, I hope your sister won’t get jealous. By the way, I hear it from a really good source “hint” that while your mommy is away you can come stay with us! Would that be OK?

Hope you have a fabulous time at the convention Ann. Maybe we will be there together some time! Stay safe. (By the way this is Shari speaking!)

  9. Ann, your sneak peek is intriguing and looks like it is another fabulous card. I am glad to see and read that Brody is doing better. I hope to see you next week. We are leaving today and will fly Seattle tomorrow. We need time for shopping.

  10. What an interesting sneek peak-you
have me in suspense until the full
reveal. You are always so generous in sharing what you do and have awesome directions as well. Glad to hear that the eye drops are helping Brody. Have a great time at the convention. I’m sure you’ll give all of us who are not attending the full low down Kathy in AZ

  11. get well, Brodie!! and thanks for sharing your cards…I like your style!

  12. Oh Brody, you look so cute!

Ann, flying with a laptop if no problem. You just take it out of the case, take the battery out, and put both in a tray to go through screening. Are you taking your luggage on the plane or checking it? Keep in mind you are usually allowed one carry-on and one personal item (i.e., purse, laptop, backpack, etc.).

I wish you a safe trip and a fun time at convention.

  13. Looking forward to the latest card creation. I am so glad Brody’s eye is improving. Give him a big hug for me. Eleven months!!! Boy has time flown; I’ve enjoyed every update.

  14. A very interesting sneak peek! Will make sure to look at it tomorrow.

Hope Brody is all healed soon and can get back into the ring.

  15. Great sneak peek. Looking forward to seeing it all. Glad Brody’s eye is better. It is hard to believe they are 11 months old already. Give him and of course Muffy a hug for me.

It is easy flying with a laptop. I am bringing mine. As Anne Marie said you only have to take it out and put it in it’s own bin when going through security. We take one all the time even to Scotland and no problem.

    See you at convention.

  16. Can’t wait to see the reveal tomorrow, I know it is going to be awesome as usual! I just want to give Brody a great big hug, I love his mug shot and so glad he is doing much better with the new eye drops! Hope he is healed enough to show! I is hard to believe the Twins are 11 months old already! I bet you have a big party planned for their 1st birthday! Have a wonderful time at convention!

  17. Loving the sneek peek… Brody’s mug shot sure is cute.. It looks like he needs a great big hug…lol
    I can’t believe they are 11 months already…
    hugs

  18. Hi Ann,
I have never taken a flight with a laptop so I am no help to you there.
I am so happy Brody is having some good results with the new serum. I hope this will heal is eye perfectly.
I can hardly wait to see your card with all the New goodies used on it. Woo hoo!

  19. Give Brody a hug and I can’t wait to see your card!!! I’m actually off tomorrow. When do ya fly out? Hugs,

  20. Ann, this appears to be another one of your awesome creations! 😉 Ohhh, Brody!! That sweet face! I can’t believe the Twins are 11 months already. Time sure flies!

On another note, flying with a lap top is easy-peasy! You just have to take it out during the initial security screening and from there, you are fine! (Note my jealous typing about the fact that you will be at Convention, btw!!) 🙂
