Sail Away with the PPA

It’s Thursday and time to play along with this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge..Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard and Not Quite Navy.  I hope you enjoy another vintage-style nautical card featuring one of my favorite Last Chance Accessories items…Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets! Of course,  this card is all about the Pearls!
CherryMustardNight
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
  • Embedded Pearls!  Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets take on a whole new look when Large Basic Pearls are inserted into their centers.
  •  Pearls in a line are so fine!  For an unexpected twist, I embellished the rope rigging with a string of Basic Pearls.
  •  Pearls in a curve accent the curls!

  • Anchors Away! A Not Quite Navy Anchor from The Open Sea was fussy cut and accented with a snippet of Cherry Cobbler/White Baker’s Twine.  And what do I spy with my little eye?  Why a pearl, of course!
  •  Cobbler bows! A trio of Baker’s Twine and Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding bows are affixed to a Vintage Trinkets Safety Pin for a touch of fun!
  •  The rest of the story!  The Sail Away sailboat was stamped with Early Espresso Craft Ink and embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Edges were roughed with the Seven Sided Tool from the Cutter Kit and distressed with Soft Suede ink.  Instant speckling was achieved with the Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker, while the waterspots were achieved with the Waterspot stamp from the French Foliage set.
So there you have it! What do you think? Please let me know by leaving me a comment.  I think that with the touches of Pearls, it could be given to a woman as well as a man.  And in celebration of the Pearls I used, don’t forget the Bite of Blog Candy I am offering.  The winner will be listed in tomorrow’s Buried Treasure post.  Of course, if you ever have questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  1. Only Ann could have a line of pearls on her sailing ship! Beauty.

  2. Ann, those pearls are a masterful idea! I love how you combined Sail Away with elements from The Open Sea. I really do think they are two of the best sets we have had in a mini and you showcased them both beautifully

  12. Oh my stars, or should I say oh my pearls! I love the way you used the pearls with that sail boat. As usual, everything about this card is great. But I would warn you to keep a sharp eye on the curled corners, Miss Daisy is planning a trip to your house and she LOVES things like this – LOL (I can say this about her because she’s sleeping!) Thanks for blessing my day. 🙂

  13. Wow Ann, another great creation! I love all the details.
    Congrats! TFS

  16. Great combination of the sets! Love the twine around the anchor and the jumbo brads. Fabulous use of the colours.

  17. i think there are some very special elements in this card. Specifically, the pearls for the sail mast, and the twine around the anchor. Very nice work!

  18. The details on your cards are always extraordinary! I have to say what really caught my eye was the twine on the anchor … love it! Ann, this is clearly a piece of art!

  19. Wow!
Love the string of pearls on this card… and the touch by the curls. So cool. I really love this color combo too and samples are fab for sure.
I LOVE the big eyelets but didn’t use too much, but I LOVE how they look … and of course now that they are retiring I’ll want to play with them.
the way you embedded the pearls in the big eyelets is FANTASTIC!
    Hugs.

  20. Wow Ann,
You are amazing… who would have thought to put pearls on a boat?
Only you.. lol. Another amazing card. I think this is one of my favorite stamp sets right now.

  21. Thanks for a great card using that stamp set! It really is a wonderful creation!

  22. The use of pearls in the line, very very creative. I really like the baker’s twine wrapped around the anchor. Job, well done!

  23. another great Ann card! I have this set now, and can’t wait to use it. Thanks for the idea(s).

  24. Jack Sparrow will be eyeing this vessel for sure with all of the jewels aboard! I am checking it out again myself because there are so many wonderful details to see! Love the long string of pearls and the pearls in the eyelets – and the twine – and the curled corners…..

  25. Ann, even though you may have had other matters on your mind, your card is awesome. I love how you used the pearls to define the sails and then the many embellishments you added, anchor, eyelets, etc to set the mood for a nautical theme.

  26. I love the jumbo eyelets…and of course, you know I love the pearls!! Cool card!!
Nice to be back to check out your stuff. 🙂 Have a blessed day.

  27. Oh no you didn’t! Pearls on a masculine card? You go girl! 🙂 I LOVE the eyelets! I never did get a Crop-a-dile to be able to do those. That thing scares me; I’m pretty sure it must be a weapon in other countries.

Very lovely card. I am going to have to get my mojo together and play along with this one.

  28. Oh, it would hardly be an “Ann” card without pearls, and who’d have thought you could add pearls to a nautical card?? LOL I love how you added your special accents, in your own special way. 😉

  29. 3 words for you Ann — FAB U LOUS!

  30. Fabulous card Ann! I love the added pearls, unexpected, but they look great! All of your embellies are fab, love those large brass eyelets. I didn’t get the memo about the challenge having a masculine twist, just the colors So my card has flowers and a butterfly, lol! Oh well, I already had a hard enough time with the colors but to make it for a guy too, oh my goodness, I’m glad I didn’t know 😛

  31. Hi Pearl…oh I mean Ann…just had to make you laugh. Love this card… oh my… so much. Just a great job of showing how pearls can be used even on a more masculine card.Love the placement of the pearls.I will hate to see this stamp leave us. I hope they put one of the nautical stamp sets in the new catalog.

  32. Oh my! This card is fabulous! Love the colors!

  33. Absolutely awesome card! Very striking with these rich colors! And so many wonderful details! You certainly are the master of detail! I would have never thought to use pearls in all the different ways you did on this card!

  34. Great card Ann! I’m liking this stamp set more and more. The pearls are magnificant! I’m going to miss the jumbo brads!

  35. Very nice. I love this stamp set! All the details add so much. Especially like the curled corners. I wonder how baker’s twine would have looked instead of pearls.

  36. It is definitely “all in the details” – and this card has all of them! Your fussy cutting definitely paid off in this perfect example of twine, eyelets, pearls, etc.

  37. Another great card. I am loving this one. I am crazy about pearls and you put them to good use here. I would have never thought to use Cherry Cobbler and More Mustard together. Looks great.

  38. OOH! Ann, I really love this one! It is awesome!
