Oh My Stars for PPA 99

Today’s Pals Paper Arts challenge is Clean and Simple Elements of Style…”Stars”! We are simply asking that you use stars on your project this week. Use one or use a galaxy of them…the choice is yours. How easy is that! I can’t wait to see what you create!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Keepin’ It Easy!
  • Seeing stars before your eyes?  Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy stars are quickly created using the Stars #2 Originals Die and the Big Shot.  They are randomly adhered to Whisper White card stock and zipped through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder in the Embedded Embossing technique.  Steppin’ It Up:  Distress the edges with a Sponge Dauber and add instant speckles with your Color Spritzer Tool!
  • Heat it up!  The Sail Away image was inked with VersaMark and heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  This makes the image “pop”.  Steppin’ It Up:  If time is not a limited resource, the image can be watercolored.
  • Add a “Wow-ee”!  A single large Cherry Cobbler star is juxtapositioned on the image and starred background.  A Jumbo Pewter Eyelet smack-dab in the middle draws in the eye! Unfortunately, these eyelets are now sold-out on Last Chance Accessories list. Steppin’ It Up:  Distress the edges or add a smidge of Glass Glitter.  Or how about popping a Pearl into the center?
As always, your comments are important to me, and I would love to share my cards with you!   From all comments left today and yesterday, I will randomly select one person to receive not only today’s challenge card, but also this card featuring the bird from Nature Walk:
I will  name the winner in my next post.  And don’t forget…if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques  I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  16. Love this clean and simple card…the colors, the layout, everything! I can handle making this one!

  17. Hey Ann! I actually really LOVE THIS! It was the stamped sail boat that I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what the heck it was yesterday! What I totally love is the raised up star (the color is SENSATIONAL) because my absolute first thought and feeling was sun dial and I saw (in my minds eye) lots of sail boats, the rough seas, a light house, and the texture you used with all the stars took it all to a real depth (the sea) for me! This all happened in a split second!! I figure it is supposed to be patriotic with your holidays and all, but I really struck me as sailing far off into the distance, which, in history – is also quite symbolic of American History. I think it’s a winner Ann! Gosh, I am SO glad I am a sensory and visual person. I LOVE the ANN card experiences!!!! They are worth the wait…this one sure was given the sneeeeeki peek experience! lol

  18. Gorgeous card, as usual. Love the barrage of stars in the background!

    Mike

  19. What a great combo; the ship image and stars go together nicely! This looks like an all American card. This would be a fun 4th card! Hope you and the “kids” are doing well. Best, Curt

  20. Love this card Ann! You always “wow” me with your work!

  21. Ann this is just too cool! LOVE the embedded embossed technique and your stars look FAB on the white BG.
The large star takes the show here and especially with the large eyelets….. sorry to see them go. Just learned how to use them! Hugs.

  22. What a great background you created–love it. Color choices are just perfect as well for your patriotic card. Sometimes I find real red a little too strong and love the choice of cherry cobbler. D

  23. Oh my stars! This is a stunning and elegant card. Miss Daisy is going to just love it! By the way – she tried to write Brody a letter last night but David stopped her when she and the pen hit the floor and she was about to run off with it! 🙂

I think I just may CASE this card. I love the embedded embossing on this one with the different sized stars. Thanks for blessing my day.

  24. Very rich looking using Cherry Cobbler rather than Real Red. Great idea using in-laid embossing for the stars. Love the large star.

  25. Ann, your card is stunning and I really like the various elements you have going on. The stars are great and the big star is really the focal point and shows of the element of style. Your card is absolutely wonderful and is great for celebrating the 4th of July

  26. Very Cool…love the embedded embossing!!!!

  27. I really like the Star card! So many interesting details. I’m always so blessed by your tips and ideas…you make it sound so easy that I actually try (and succeed) at many of your techniques!! I’d love to win the two cards you’re offering … IMAGINE actually holding and seeing up close a card made by YOU!!

  28. Yet another beauty, Ann! This card is so clean and crisp. It speaks of a Happy Fourth of July. Kathy in AZ

  29. Ann, this card is gorgeous, love the colors, your embossing technique and all the stars. Thanks for all your tips.

  30. Those embedded stars are really neat, Ann! And I believe you have a sort of a CAS card here, my friend. Well done!

  31. Great card! Now I know what embedded embossing is! I have seen examples of this technique but did not know what it was called. I will have to try it. Your card looks simple to do but is very dramatic. hmmm, I may have to case it! Thanks, Ann.

  32. I really love this card. I was looking for something to make for the 4th and I think I just found it. Loved the embossed stars. Adding my good luck wishes. Too bad only one person can win but then we are all winners because we get to see how it is done!

  33. Terrific card. Inlaid embossing is one of my favorite techniques. A perfectly patriotic post for this time of year.

  34. Such a pretty card! Love the richness of the colors! Best wishes to all, but honestly, I want to win!

  35. The embedded embossing works beautifully here – and I love that sliver of More Mustard – great little detail!

  36. Whoa! No pearls…no sponging…no spritzing! But Oh So Beautiful! I really love this one. Fantastic card!

  37. WOW!!!!! What a beautiful card!

  38. I really think this card is stunning! Love the idea that you use Cherry Cobbler instead of Real Red. Good idea!!!
Good luck on winning these cards everyone!( Secretly hoping Ann will say “Yvonne is the winner!”)

  39. Just a fantastic job on this weeks PPA! You never cease to amaze me. Good luck to everyone…..mostly me.

  40. Love it! The inlaid stars are a perfect background…and I think the small mustard mats are a brilliant choice for making the layers pop!

  41. Hi, Ann…taking a break from painting and cleaning while I have my breakfast tea. Love that you adhered the stars to the card before embossing. Genius!

  42. Beautiful patriotic card. Clean, simple and Outstanding.
    Both cards R Absolutely wonderful.
    Best of luck 2 everyone

    ColleenB.
