Hello, My Friend for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday and time to reveal this week’s The Paper Players challenge card.  For this week’s bright and cheery color challenge of Wild Wasabi, Melon Mambo, and Daffodil Delight, I have used the new Stampin’ Up! set, My Friend, available July 1st.  I hope you enjoy it!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Dare to Be Adventurous

  • Dare to…stamp on Designer Series Paper!  The Hello sentiment from My Friend was inked in Basic Black and stamped directly onto Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper.  Of course, I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to help me position it perfectly.
  • Dare to…be whimsical! A scrap of Melon Mambo card stock was transformed into a frilly embellishment with a few little snips!
  • Dare to…distress! A Sponge Dauber and Soft Suede ink ages the edges of any paper in a matter of minutes.  A Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker adds instant “speckles”!
  • Dare to…bejewel! Basic Pearls enhance the sentiments!
  • Dare to…try a different style! Did you notice a “cleaner and simpler” Schach style for this card?  There is still a touch of vintage, but with fewer layers and frou-frou!
I hope you enjoyed today’s peek at the new My Friend stamp set.  What do you think of it? I was won over by the two sentiments!  What could be better than “Hello…my friend”?  Remember, your comments are important to me, so please let me know what you think of today’s card.  And if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  3. OK… So I came to your site and thought. NAH… this can’t be the stampinschach… but then, I looked closely – and all those wonderful details that are “ann” started to appear before my eyes 🙂 I love that you went a little cleaner and simpler on this card – I really got to appreciate all of the amazing details, including the background print!

  9. Such a beautiful card, Ann! I love all the little details that you put into your cards.

  10. I love this color combo and, especially the frilly addition. I’ve never seen this before. Very clever!

  11. You are so right Ann…it is a bit scary to stamp right on DP! You don’t see that too much. I am glad you pointed it out. What you have created is beautiful…I love the pink flowers tied with the yellow ribbon…They remind me of colored reeds that I put in my garden…and the scroll is so beautiful wrapped around – very inventive! And with the pearls…very scroll like. I love how this is all 3D with the greenery behind. What a gorgeous set. Can’t wait for the release now that I have seen what you have done with it. xox

  12. Only you could take these three colors and make them vintage! Just lovely!

  13. I love this card… I knew I would. I can’t wait to get this stamp set.. The Hello is so whimsical….

  17. You are so creative! What a fabulous idea to make an embellishment out of paper. Love it! Well, I love the whole card!

  18. Ann I LOVE this card! I LOVE what you did with the melon mambo… how cute is that! The colors are soooooo cheery and bright. but it still has the “Schach” style… distressing, and bling are perfection.
This set is on its way to me now. and I can’t wait to use it.! Hugs.

  19. Cleaner and simpler – well, if you say so! But, I love all the little details! The snipped and fringed little bouquet is such a fun element! But, the pearls are even more perfect! I think I am liking that wild wasabi more these days. I loved reading everyone’s comments! So, all the swirly twirly things are on the sentiments already or are they separate? I love em, either way! Can’t wait to hear about the twins big weekend too.

  20. Your idea of simple is simply amazing! Loved the detail and the “thingy”. very clever!

  21. I laughed at Deb’s comment, as I had just finished doing the ‘read, scroll, read, scroll’ dance. It wasn’t until my final scroll that I noticed all the sweet little pearls on the DSP circle. You DO love your pearls, and we do love what you do with them. 🙂 I also love how the curls of the MM ‘thingy’ echo the swirls in the Hello sentiment. So much inspiration in one card!

  22. Ann, your card is beautiful and you did add a bit of whimsy to a vintage style card. I love the “dare to” segments. The melon whimsical touch is perfect. I have this set but haven’t tried anything with it. Now I will. Karen

  23. Love this card! I can’t wait to use this stamp set. Check out my blog for the latest ustamp blog hop!!!!!! Talk to you soon

  24. Hi Ann,
I just LOVE the random pink thing! I put something similar on a card yesterday but I cut it out of the First Edition. Mine was more like a tassle, but still pretty cute! This card is very whimsical, but still has all of your elements that say “Ann!”

  25. You rocked this card Ann, it is beautiful! I love your little frilly embellishment. A lucky friend you have that receives this card.

  26. What a lovely, card Ann! It goes to show you that you can make any style look marvelous. Thank you for the inspiration! Kathy in AZ

  27. Oh, my! This is a BEAUTY!!

I’m SO glad that you include your designer tips in your posts, for even though I try to DRINK IN every detail of your creations, while reading your tips, I often realize that I’ve failed to notice some of the special touches! (I scroll up & down — read a tip — check it out on the card — read another tip — check it out, etc.)

Your snipped Melon Mambo “bundle” was appreciated, but NOT identified. How FUN to read WHAT it was and HOW it was made!!

  28. love the new set!!! And your beautiful card.

  29. Yikes – I wish we lived next store to each other – I would be over at your house every day stamping. This is a fabulous card. Sigh – I wasn’t going to get this set. Have to think about it! Thanks for blessing my day and being my enabler!!!! 🙂
