A PPA Peek, Free Pearls and Twin Talk

Whew! What a holiday weekend! A wedding! Graduation! Four days of dog shows! I survived, but boy do I feel like I am behind. Since there are tons of things to talk about, let’s get started with the Pals Paper Arts Peek. It’s curled…It’s pearled…It’s spritzed!  I hope that you join me Thursday for the reveal.  And as a little thank-you for your comments through Thursday, I will be giving away FREE pearls to one lucky randomly selected person. The winner will be named Friday.

Twin Talk

The Twins had an eventful week, starting with a possible puppy poisoning.  As usual, they would love to tell you all about it.

Muffy:  “Hi” Mom’s stamper friends.  Wait ’til you hear what happened.  Mom tried to poison us! Can you believe it?  She let us eat poisonous plants from the backyard.  She wasn’t paying attention to us, so Brody and I thought we would try our paws at landscaping.  There were these big plants called “Hosta”…
Brody:  I thought you said they were “pasta”, Muffy!  I didn’t think they tasted like pasghetti.
Muffy:  No, Brody, I clearly and distinctly said “hosta”.  And the word is “spaghetti”!   Anyway, we got rid of two of the hosta plants.  We tore the plants apart and then chased each other around the yard carrying those big leaves in our mouths.  When Mom checked on us, she wasn’t very happy.  She got on her ‘puter and found out that hostas can be toxic to dogs.  So she called the vet.
Brody:  And we had to drink salt water to make us lose everything in our tummies.
Muffy:  Brody got really sick.  Mom had to lay with him and pet his tummy.  I only got a little sick ’cause I’m a girl and we are stronger than boy dogs.
Brody:  It was terrible. I don’t ever want to eat pasta again.
Muffy:  It’s hosta, not pasta…you ninny!  Mom made Dad get rid of the hosta and some other plants listed on the “bad plant” list she found.  Now the back yard looks really ugly.
Brody:  You look really ugly!
Muffy:  That’s not what the judges thought!  I was named Winner two out of the four days, and won two more points toward my Champion title.  It won’t be long until I will be called “Ch. Cimarron’s Do You Know the Muffin Man”.
Brody:  Why would you want to be called “Chuh”?
Muffy:  It’s not pronounced “chuh”.  The “Ch” stands for “Champion”.
Brody:  Well I was a winner, too, Muffy!  The judds think I am handsome!
Muffy:  You weren’t a winner, Brody!  You were a “Reserve” Winner twice.  It just means you were the best of the losers.
Brody:  I am not  a loser.  MOM…Muffy’s being mean again!

So there you have it! The vet did recommend that we “purge the puppies” just in case they had ingested hosta.  I had no idea that hosta was poisonous to dogs. For a list of poisonous plants, click HERE.  You may be surprised at what is listed.  As for the show, the Twins did a fabulous job.  Muffy was named Winners twice, winning two more points toward her title, and Mr. Brody was named Reserve twice, which is very good for a little puppy boy.  Until next time…

Muffy – you should have known better – you’re a woman and we nose these kinda things. Hm, maybe you can’t help it because your nose isn’t as long as mine. I’m sorry Muffy. Woohoo – my best friend was best of show and my sweetbark was reserve champion. Sigh! Swoon! Waggy, waggy! ;))))))) Looking forward to your complete work of heart tomorrow. Thanks for blessing my day. :))))))

  12. Twin talk is such a hoot! I have to show this to DH. I do Sheltie talk all the time, telling him what our Sheltie is thinking, and he growls in his manly way and says, “no one can tell what the dog is thinking.” After reading another episode of twin talk, I know that’s not true…we do know what our wonderful pets are thinking..that’s why we love them as much as they love us. So glad they are okay.

  13. Those twins just crack me up. Thanks for sharing the info about the hostas, my dogs have not gone near them, but I will keep a better watch. As usual your sneak peak is very enticing, can’t wait for the reveal.

  19. Have you had enough excitement lately? I have to be careful of house plants with four inside cats. Some cats love plants and some don’t , but we found we could not take any chances after one of them ate dried eucaplytus, and our vet daughter informed us it was poisonous to cats.

  20. Ann, I am so happy to see that the twins are OK. Who would have thought, Hosta plants… I know they received Momma’s TLC. Can’t wait to see the reveal…couldn’t guess this time but I know it will be beautiful.

  21. Those two are going to keep you busy, that is for sure! lol. I like the sneak peak.

  32. Oh thank goodness the pups are okay!!! Scary business for all of you, no doubt. I’ve had Hostas for years (one of the best plants for the gray, rainy NW!) and my dog never went for them once. She’s since passed away from old age, but it is an important thing to know if one has young dogs, such as yourself. Thank you so much for sharing that information.

And your peek…looks like something lovely as usual, Ann! Looking forward to Thursday!

  33. I love reading about your adorable twins. So cute and o funny. Love your cretions and look forward to visiting each day. Also love pearls-lol. Blessings, Diane
