Thursdays are always special here at The Stampin’ Schach because I get to reveal my Design Team Inspiration card. This week our challenge is Clean and Simple Elements of Style…Brads. This week I have designed a Thank You card for all of the teachers who frequent my blog. I know first hand how hard you work and how much you care.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Dare to try! I had never tried the Stampin’ Up! Builder Wheels, but how cute is this adorable apple “For Teacher” design paired with “Elementary Alphabet”. Must haves are the Builder Wheel Spindle and Spacers, the Triple Cell Cartridge, and for me, the Stampin’ Around Wheel Guide, to help me do straight “wheelies”. Colors of choice…Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock.
- Texture! My Crumb Cake card base was zipped through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A small strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock was added to the bottom to compensate for the minimal loss of length due to embossing and to add an easy design element.
- Head for the borders! Cherry Cobbler Scallop Trim Borders flank both sides of the image, while Basic Black Dotted Scallop Ribbon Borders were stitched with Cherry Cobbler/White Baker’s Twine. Pressed for time? Omit the stitching!
- Finishing touches! The “Thank You for Being You” sentiment from the Bold Blossom set was selectively inked using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock, and layered onto a Basic Black Decorative Label. Three Basic Black Glimmer Brads balance the layout.
This was my first experimentation with using Builder Wheels. How fun! I was a little afraid to use them…afraid that they would not stamp correctly. Boy was I in for a surprise! They were sooo easy! So what do you think of today’s card? Remember, your comments are important to me. And as always, I freely share what I know. So if you ever have a question about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

I am always “afraid” to use my wheel … matter-of-fact, it has never been used. Love how you built your card! Wonderful for any teacher!!!
what a great idea! love seeing the builder wheels in action and the bakers twine idea is brillant!
thanks for the inspiration!

I’d love to be in the room when you start creating and the paper is flying as you add layer after layer to create your masterpieces! The pairing of the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border and the Scallop Trim Border is perfection!

I love your card, Ann! I love the teacher coming out of you. *smile* I have the builder wheels, just no luck. Hugs,
Absolutely charming!
Texture, twine, & thoughtfulness! Great card.
I’ve never tried the builder wheels. Thanks for letting us now they are easy to use.
Ann this is adorable! LOVE these colors and how you laced the twine in the lace trim border, then matted with the scallop edge. So cute! My fav was the alphabet.. it reminded me of when I was in elementary!! Wow that was a long time ago…. Love it.
PS: I DID buy ALL these wheels figure I’d use for my grandkids, but I’m afraid to use them too… well not the wheels, but with TWO colors.
I finally bought a cartrige, but I have NO IDEA what colors to ink them, and then I’m afraid the colors will bleed together, but now maybe I’ll give it a try. Hugs.
PSS: Could comment this morning again… aaggrrr??? Blogger?
A+ for sure! I love it from the colors to all the fun details! I, too, have not used the builder wheels but I used my wheels singly a lot but not recently. The positioner thing does help. This is just so fun the more I look at it! Love the cross stitching with the twine too. The balance with the brads and the decorative label just extra credit! I was thinking the apple would be cute for a recipe card too. Oh crap, now my wheels are turning and a case of the gotta have it is setting in! Thanks for sharing Ann!

Absolutely perfect for a teacher!!
LOVE THIS CARD! I am feeling the draw back to counted cross stitching. Thanks for blessing my day.
Woof, woof!
What a darling card! I love all the little details. It must have taken you forever to make it!
A+ on your card, Ann! Love the color combo, your straight “wheelies”, the Scallop Borders; the stitching just pops the whole card! I really enjoy how you outline your instructions and the catch phrases you use add so much fun. Great job!!
Love the card! Such a nice one to give to a teacher at the end of the year. Great color combination!
Perfect card Ann. The crumb cake card reminds me of a lunch sack – so appropriate for teachers. The color combo is dynamite and the extra touches just make this card special.
Kelley, to get the mat behind the sentiment, I simply punch the label again in a contrasting color, and cut it horizontally into two pieces. I adhere one piece at the top of the orginal sentiment punch and one at the bottom. To mat the sides, I punch a second colored label and cut it vertically. I then adhere these pieces to the right and left sides. I hope this helps!
I don’t have any of the wheels but after seeing this I may have to invest! This is spot on in every way – a definite A Plus!
Oh yes! It is that time of year. Ann I love the cross hatching with the twine. how you put in the apples is adorable and the colors are SO vibrant and rich together. What is really nice is that I can actually imagine this going to any grade teacher…which is rare for a teach. card…so many are grade specific! I might just take this card and scrap lift for my son’s. Thanks Ann…adorable. xox
Another great example of several elements combined makes a fantastic card. My favorite element is how you used the baker’s twine–reminds me of my cross-stitch days.
Love it all, Ann! Those colors are perfect for the ABCs. I, too, found the builder wheels very easy to maneuver, but I do need the guide!
Oh this is adorable. Great texture, love the stitching and the colors. Bold and clean, fantastic teacher card.
This card is so adorable…i love how you give me so many ideas!!
you did a fab job with these wheels ann-love the look on this teachers card-and the bakers twine is such a perfect finishing touch
I love your card! I didn’t think I would order these wheels, but now, after seeing your card, I have to have them!
Love this, it’s so cute! That would make really good scrap pages as well, thanks for the inspiration and ideas.
Ann, you have created such a fun and cute card. I love the various elements you have going on but the best is the stitching with the baker’s twine. Your wheeling ability is just perfect.
Uber cute! I love how when you create a card with a new tool….I wanted to try it, too!
Nice job! Have a great day!
Great job with the builder wheel!! I love the look of this card – from the texture to the color combo.
Hugs, M
What a terrific card! I have the builder wheels but haven’t really used them. I think it is more about inking up the cartridges then anything else. I have used two and inked them on the ink pads. Not hard if you don’t have a wheel in the middle. Love the stitching. It really makes this card. Perfect for the teachers!
What a fun card. I love the stiching with the bakers twine. And the colors are so pretty together.
hugs

I don’t think I could omit that twine! My goodness is it beautiful!
Super cute card! Any teacher would be honored to receive it! Love it!
Love this card, the colors and textures are an A+! Love the stitching detail too!
What a cute card! I love the clean lines and color combination! I have not tried the builder wheels as well, I will have to rethink that after seeing this adorable card! As a matter of fact, I forget to use the regular and jumbo wheels that I have as well! I’ll have to pull them out and ink them up!
Ann,
How do you get a perfect mat for behind your decorative label punch?
Cindy W.
How Fun this card is! I love it. I have not tried theBuild a Wheel yet either. I really like how they all come together for a real smart look.
Hugs to all the teachers. They have an a job that consist of many jobs.
Yvonne
My hat is off to you! Very cute, very thoughtful and very clever!
Love it! Clean…crisp…a perfect card for a teacher.
Wow! I, too, have been afraid of builder wheels. I am going to have to re-think that misconception. I have the wheel guide already, but have not used it – another re-thinking on my part. Cherry cobbler and black are such a classic combination that add a dramatic effect to any card. It is perfect for the “teacher in your life”!
