Flowers for The Paper Players

Sundays are always fun at The Stampin’ Schach because I get to reveal the The Paper Players inspiration card.  This week is a Theme Challenge hosted by LeAnne Pugliese entitled “Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees”.   I am especially excited for you to see today’s card because it is the first card that I have made using the Flower Fest set from the Summer Mini.  It’s filled with fun, floral images which took me a wee bit outside of my comfort zone.  Yet I was challenged to add special touches to make it my own.  I hope that you enjoy my “Flowers for The Paper Players”!
The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:
  •  A background bouquet! I randomly stamped the floral images from Flower Fest onto Whisper White card stock after inking them with Jet Black StazOn.  Next, I pulled out Blender Pens and watercolored them using the following inks:  Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi, and Daffodil Delight.
  • Texture! To soften the overly-bright background, I zipped the “bouquet” through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
  • Add some “Wow”!  Selected images were then stamped and watercolored again.  After adding Dazzling Diamonds, they were paper snipped out and popped upon Stampin’ DimensionalsBasic Rhinestones centers are the perfect accent!
  • Finish with a fabulous bow! A Basic Black Satin Bow, attached to a pleated ribbon, completes the look.

So what do you think of this fun, summery set?  I know I am more of a “Sailing Away” to “The Open Sea” on a “Nautical Expedition” kind of gal, put this is fun with a touch of whimsy!  I am anxious to see what fabulous projects you create for this week’s challenge!

Remember, your comments are important to me.  I do read them all and respond to those I can. And if you remember from yesterday’s post, my favorite embellishment,  FREE Basic Pearls are heading out the door to one lucky person randomly selected from all comments left today and yesterday.  And as always, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  12. this is so beautiful, love how you popped the flowers up.

  13. I really like the idea of giving the whole card texture by dry embossing after stamping and coloring!! It gives it a whole other dimension!! Thanks for the ideas!

  14. Hi Ann, like you I am more the nautical type. But after seeing your card I am looking at the Flower fest in a different way. Your card is beautiful and very cheerful. I love that you cut the flowers out and made them dimensional. Once again, you have shown me a stamp set that has lots of possibilities. 🙂

  16. I just love the glitter!!
I can’t wait to check out what you’ve been up to this last week while I was on vacation w/o a computer!

  17. Ann: I LOVE this card! The texture, the soft watercolors, the dimension you added by popping up some of the images…and the way you framed it with black paper. Really sets the whole thing off. Superb!

  18. Very pretty card. Not my favorite stamp set, but you did a great job making this set look great. I like to add ribbon to my cards.

  19. What a lovely card. I like that you made it 3D with cutting some of the flowers out. Thanks for blessing my day. 🙂 Woof, woof! :)))))

  20. Flowers are always a hit. I like what you did with the EF. Also how you chose a couple of flowers to layer. Very pretty card.

  21. Lovely Ann. I like how some of the flowers are popped off the background giving the dimension apart from the textured background. The black ribbon is awesome. For some reason, I stay away from black ribbon, but seeing it on your card makes be want to try it.

  22. Frame the card front, sign your name so no one can read it and everyone will think you have an original water color. I love this change of pace and all the great colors you used.

  23. Beautiful Card Ann! I love the way the black satin bow really finishes off the design. Your texture touches make this very interesting — glitter, latice, bling…so nice!

  24. What a beautiful card to celebrate May Day, Ann! Love the colors, layering and glitz; the beautiful black bow showcases the card. Hope you have had a good safe week-end. I am still with the grands so not too much time to myself!

  25. Well done..getting that background to look so nice without it looking too congested takes a special eye. Love the Dazzling Diamonds..one of my favorite bling. Look at that perfect bow! Just another wonderful card. “Hi” to the Twins from the furbabies.

  26. I love this card! – I really think the black outline, and especially the Black Satin ribbon makes it pop! Your work is always awesome – and inspiring! Thanks for sharing.

  27. Oh my goodness this card is SO very beautiful!! I love to watercolor and need to try it more often! Thank you for sharing another beautiful creation!

  28. Ann this is so pretty. I really like the square lattice background. Very cool and the 3D flowers really set this off. The black ribbon just makes the colors pop too.
I have to admit this is not one of my favorite sets, but you certainly make it look sweet. Hugs.

  29. Gorgeous take on the challenge, Ann! I love it! That black ribbon really makes everything stand out even more.

  30. Ah, a breath of spring! The array of flowers reminds me of out our back door with the dew drops glistening in the sun! About the same colors but different flowers! I have never used the Dazzling Diamonds and this might have to be a first for me! I love every element from the texture and how it softens it to the pop of the black mat and bow! The rhinestones and DD just top it all off. Love the watercoloring and added snipped out flowers. The yellow one at the top is my favorite though. Great job! I was wondering what you would do with this set! It is sort of a whimsical set and I am not very whimsical but thought it was interesting. I like the Floret or whatever it is set a bit better. Sorry to start babbling again!

  33. Sondra from Texas

beautiful card, Ann! You have outdone yourself.

  34. Great technique. All the elements are popping out at the right places. The dazzling diamonds add the right touch with the finished ribbon.

  35. Love the added dimension created by stamping an extra image that gets embellished with dazzling diamonds. It mutes the color intensity but adds bling! Great card!

  36. That set is out of my comfort zone too – but you have used it wonderfully well!!

  37. Embossing with the square lattice folder and adding the black ribbon are the perfect touches on your beautifully watercolored card. I love it!

  38. Great technique as always! I so look forward to your touches every week. This card is so pretty and I can’t wait to make it myself! Great Job as always

  41. Very pretty! Love that you added texture. And the dazzling diamonds is my favorite part! Hope you have a lovely Sunday!

  42. Oh wow, this is stunning! I love the watercoloring, so soft, kinda looks like chalks. Love the embossing and the pop of black really gives a “Wow!”

  43. Not your usual style but a very pretty, summery card indeed. I always look forward to Sundays to see the full reveal. Thank you for sharing. Kathy in AZ

  45. Very pretty! Love the glitery flowers! I need to put some ink to this set.

  46. Indeed, this is a little not-your-usual. I love the way the embossing makes the background softer; then, those highlighted flowers ‘dazzle’ us. I especially like the yellow one twisted on its axis to give more pizzazz.

  47. What a bright, cheerful card. I never think I like a new stamp set until I see it done – I am such a “follower”. Have a wonderful Sunday.

  48. What at beautiful card! I love the way you watercolored and popped up some of the flowers. It really comes to life! Very fresh!

  49. I love this card. I wasn’t too crazy about this set but you showed how it can be used to create a beautiful card. I love the pearls and rhinestones but my all time favorite is dazzling diamonds.

  50. Very pretty. I just love your style and the simple touches that just make a card come to life. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent and tips.

  51. I’m glad that you did this card. I didn’t particularly like this set in the mini, but you’ve brought it to life. Thanks for sharing.

  52. Your cards are always beautiful and your “tips” come in handy too. What is am most impressed with is the way your site is designed. The font is great for these “old” eyes of mine and so easy to read. Keep up the good information as I am a very loyal reader of yours.

  53. This is so pretty and right up my alley as I’m such a floral person! And watercoloring is one of my very favorite techniques! Love how you added texture with the embossing folder and dimension with the popped up flowers! I may have to try this challenge!

  54. Love it. Love it. I am always watercoloring with the flowers. After a while it starts to feel like the same old same old. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful that technique is. Again, great card and thanks.
