Buried Treasure

Ahoy, mateys! I followed the Treasure Map this week to July 8, 2009 where I dug up this  fabulous, versatile sketch for you. Click HERE for the original details.  I liked this sketch so much, I used it again and again.  Let’s take a look at another version of it, which appeared on July 11.  Click HERE to learn more about this card.

Think of the updating possibilities!

Layout Options: This layout is perfect for cards where you wish to showcase images that have a coordinating sentiment, image or embellishment. This is also the perfect layout for showcasing coordinating patterns of Designer Series Paper.  From the Summer Mini, The Open Sea, Touch of Kindness and Strength and Hope are three viable stamp set choices.  From the Idea Book and Catalog, Artistic Etchings, Just Believe, florals and butterflies …the list is endless.
Embellishment Updates:  A trio of Pearls?  Baker’s Twine? Big Designer Buttons? Border Punches? Depending on the style of your card, Vintage Trinkets, Antique Brads and lace are also great choices for creating a vintage look.
Techniques: Curl the corners of the central image and distress the edges, too! How beautiful would it be to use the Inlaid Embossing technique on the back panel! Emboss Resist the image!  Zip the horizontal strip through the Big Shot with a Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!  How about framing the back panel with the Framed Tulips folder?  Just let your imagination soar!
I hope you enjoyed this card from my past…even though my cardmaking past only goes back to 2009! And I hope that you take the time to examine your card making past to see what Buried Treasure you have, just waiting for you to work your updating magic.  As always, your comments are important to me, so take a few minutes, if Blogger allows, to let me know what you think about today’s layout…or even just to say “Hi!” And if you ever have any questions about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away.  Just give me a holler…or email if it’s easier! Until next time…

  1. Hi Ann! I love your buried treasure! Sorry to have been absent from your blog for so long…in the middle of my move! Hope you are well. XOXO

  2. Oh, I remember the dog card! I used the layout with the dog stamp for Murphy to send a card to one of his dog friends who was having a birthday. There was an actual party with people cake and also one for dogs made from a dog bakery in Des Moines!

Too bad it is a lab and not a boxer – I know the perfect embelishment – the crown for Muffy who by now is winning I am sure this weekend! Brody could have a pearl on his butt for his card!

Hope you are having a great, safe weekend.

  11. Ann – even back in 2009, you were a rock star! As I’ve said before, I think you should write a book as you have the knack for it. Your blog posts reel me in from the start and keep me hooked to the finish.

Love that dog card and that twine around the bone is the delightful touch. I fed Lexi some blueberries this morning as she was watching me make my breakfast of yogurt, granola and blueberries. Like the sound of the color spritzer tool, the crinkle of the blueberry pint container brings her running into the kitchen with a hope that she’ll get one or two as a healthy treat. 🙂 She’s been known to grab fresh blueberries off the blueberry bush in our yard as well – and she knows when they are ripe and ready for the picking as she’ll leave them alone until then – smart little bugger!

  12. these are great, fabulous burried treasure!

  13. WOW…hmmm which card do i comment on. well, brody or muffy have to travel WAY TO FAR for their treat!lol I LOVE that the treat is tied up with a string! Gosh I want to be a fly in your dining room just to see you create all this!

  14. You’re making this Buried Treasure thing so fun, Ann! You are a clever business woman. 😉 I like that layout, and of course the girlier card appeals to me. Those brads look like earrings!

  15. Love your Buried Treasure. Especially the doggie bone…how clever!
I just caught my Lab stealing doggie biscuits!!!! I have them ready for a craft show. This is so unlike her! Then she went to our other dogs dish and tried to eat her food. No full moon so I don’t know what gives.
