The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:
- Make your own paper from scraps! I am a paper hoarder, and I will often save scraps that are really too small to use. So, I filled up my blender with scraps of blue, purple, pink and red Stampin’ Up! card stock, and added water. After a few blasts of power, I poured the slurry out onto a screen wire frame and allowed the water to drain through. I then blotted with newspaper, and carefully peeled it from the frame. I continued blotting and allowed it to dry. The result was a paper mat in a delightful shade of blue!
- Paper flowers! Bright magazine pages can be used to make delightful flowers. I used pages from an outdated Avon catalog, as well as Perfect Plum card stock and First Edition Designer Series Paper to make the large blossom that graces today’s card.
- Corrugated cardboard adds texture! I simply ripped off a piece from the card board box in which the Stampin’ Up! die storage boxes are shipped. Quick and easy!
- Don’t through away the circular cardboard core from the Mini Glue Dots! I peeled off the outer layer and stamped a sentiment from Bring on the Cake onto it!
- Add a touch of glam! I embossed a piece of Early Espresso card stock using the Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, brayered it with VersaMark, and heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It adds an unexpected touch of elegance against the “grunge” elements!

Hey Miss Ann,
Lovely to find someone else turning their scrapaholicism (scrapaholicalism ?) to a good purpose. I love making my own SU paper in every shade of the rainbow. Thanks for bringing this talent (disease ? lol) out into the light of day for others to be inspired by.
Love the Blog Header too!
Thanks for making the world a better place by sharing your creativity and for mothering such wonderful pups who bring us all smiles.

Wow, Ann! I can’t believe that you literally made your own background paper! You are so amazingly creative! That really was an out of the box solution.

Two years, you say?? I am having more and more trouble believing you!! Love the wonderful colors and all the detail. Great ideas for creating a recycled card, Ann, and thanks for always including such good instructions. Hope all went well for Brady this week-end.

Funny, I said the same thing as Lorraine When I saw your card Just Lovely!!
Wow, you made your own paper! And I thought blenders were only for frozen drinks! Your flower is pretty. So many great recycling ideas. This is a fabulous card for your sister’s birthday.
Wow, such a pretty card out of so many recycled elements. Great job, my friend!
Beautiful card, and I especially like the blue background you made. Thanks for all the good suggestions.
Wow! I love the grunge look. And the flower is beautiful. I can’t believe how many items you recycled! Very clever! I am having trouble coming up with one thing I could use on a card and make it look good. 🙂
Gosh, that’s a whole lot of re-purposing! I’m filing away all your great tips for future use. I’m sure your sister is going to love this gorgeous creation!

How clever are you???? Super ideas…and now my “junque” bin will be fuller than ever. I even save toilet paper rolls. If you smash them flat, cover them with pretty paper and embellish, they make great gift card holders.
Wow, you take recycling to the nth degree! How cool is this!! You did an awesome job on my challenge!
Ann, look at you bringing crafting to the kitchen! I love that idea about “blending” tiny paper scraps to bring them back to life! So many wonderful elements on this one. You really added some great elements and this challenge has me looking at “trash” as “crafting treasure”. So fun! Have an awesome day! 🙂
Oh, wow…I love, love, love this card! You even make your own paper? What don’t you create? I love all the layers, textures and colors! Gorgeous!!!
Oh Ann! Your card is stunning! I love that you made your own background paper…. wow! Gorgeous flower! Hugs,
LOVE all of the cool elements that you used to creat your card. I know this summer when it is REALLY warm out I’m going to make some of that ‘scrap’ paper.
Leslie said … How amazing – and green! The paper you made is absolutely gorgeous. I too am a paper hoarder so I will have to try this technique. Until I saw this card, I would never have called cardboard “exciting”. You have certainly changed that idea.
Ann, I LOVE your card. And I love the idea of using recycled items. I am going to give it a try to see what I can come up with. thanks for the challenge. txjennywren.blogspot.com
Ann, you did an amazing card with recycled elements. I don’t think that I would be so ambitious as to make my own paper and yours turned out beautiful. I really like all the vibrant colours you have on your card and I am sure that your sister will be very pleased to receive it.
Freaking amazing! I have always wanted to try making paper but just never took the time! I am “so torn” between which is my most fevorite element, so hard to choose. Loving the grunge factor vs. elegance but I am really think the “ribbon” sentiment is right up there with it’s automatic little curl or wave!
I work as the dispatcher and receptionist for a recycle center, you would be amazed at what things comes through the plant! I occasionally rip off a piece of the corrugated cardboard when I walk through the plant. Sometimes there is sheet music from the college’s music department even. Thos big Scrapbooking paper tablets that have had the edges wet and they throw it all away! Occasionally one of the recyclers will bring me some really fun embelishments and ask me to make a card for them with the stuff.
Anyway, fun card. Eagerly awaiting the weekend with the twins and Brady’s musical adventure.
