Come Sail Away with The Paper Players

It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players in our monthly Color Challenge! So Saffron, Poppy Parade and Baja Breeze take center stage this week, with Whisper White as a neutral.  If you don’t have these colors, don’t despair.  Just substitute a similar hue!

Did you notice anything about this card?  There’s no distressing, no spritzing and no pearls!  Gasp! No, I am not ill.  I just wanted a clean, fresh look for Stampin’ Up!’s new Sail Away stamp, which will be available May 1st.  As for my layout, it is courtesy of  A Sketch for You to Try!

The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:
  • Clean and layered! It is possible to achieve a clean look and be layered! Straight lines and simple patterns, with a minimum of embellishments, help achieve the desired look.
  • Be bold! A strong image anchors a large card.  Sold as a single stamp, Sail Away was inked in VersaMark and heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  And to prevent unwanted speckles, remember to use your Embossing Buddy!
  • Bitz of glitz! Three Poppy Parade Glimmer Brads add just the perfect accent and “pop” of color!
I hope that you enjoyed today’s card.  My mojo and my ambition have been missing in action this week.  Hopefully they have enjoyed their vacation, and will return home by tomorrow! In the meantime, will you please let me know what you think about my “clean and layered” card?  Your comments are so very important to me!  And what about this fabulous new stamp?  I know I can’t wait to try a more traditional “Ann card” with it.  As always, if you should ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  6. Hi Ann, I love your Sail Away card. My SO that I just lost to cancer in Feb. would have loved that card as he loved to sail. Thanks for your comment on my blog. There is a video on the SC about covering your brad so it wasn’t my idea. I just liked it!
    Blessings,Bev

  16. Hi Ann,
Oh I LOVE how you used the DSP! This card is fabulous, I love the way you used the colours and created something masculine and fresh! I am ordering that stamp now…you have made it a must have for me!!!
    Hugs,

  17. Very nice card, Ann! With summer coming (eventually) it would be a perfect card to send anyone.

  18. Leslie said … while this card is pretty much “outside the box” for you, it shows how multi-talented you are. You have the ability to create not only the elegant “over the top” cards that most all women love, but that simple straight-forward card that the men in our lives are sure to love. I think this card is “simply” awesome!

  19. Love your card Ann! The layout is perfect for this stamp!! I would never know your mojo was MIA!

  20. this is a gorgeous color scheme ann-I love the dsp that you used and the sailboat image-your layout really displays the paper & image well

  21. Love it! Very much my style and it can be mailed because it’s not too bulky! Way to go, Ann!

  22. This is an absolutely delightful card, so bright and cheerful – just exudes fun, fun, fun! Thanks for blessing my day. – Woof, woof to the twins

  23. Ann, even if this card is a diversion from your usual distressing, pearl, etc., it still stands on its own with the crisp clean lines of the sailboat the colourful papers that are the background. It makes a perfect man card and would be great for father’s day. As for the mojo, it’s likely the time of the year. Just like Spring, your mojo will return

  24. Such restraint, Ann; I am so proud of you!! Great masculine card. We spend time on Lake Pend O’Reille in the very northern part of Idaho each summer. The sailboats are so fun to watch. I am off to babysit the grands today, back home next Friday, but like the other posters, I will be checking in daily to see what you come up with “Ann Style” for this set. I have no doubt that your mojo will warm right up with a little R&R; you have been a very busy lady! Have a great day and TFS.

  25. Great layout. I really like this stamp; makes for a classy card. You make clean and simple elegant. I look forward to what else you do with this stamp

  26. Love the layers and esp the stripes with the dots! I love my layers. Thank goodness you didn’t make muddy Mississippi water! The glimmer brads provided just the right touch! I do have a few star brads that are white with red stripes I picked up at a garage sale that might have been cute. Fun, crisp and clean card!

  27. Awesome card, especially for those men in our lives. Not much sailing going on here in Southern IL, but we have certainly had the wind. Love the color combo and layout. TFS!

  28. A beautiful, clean, crisp card. Even though it is not the typical”Ann” card it is a great guy card. Love the colors!

  29. I love this, so beautiful. Can’t wait to get mine and kopykat this cute design.

  30. I love the new stamp. What a fresh, clean card. Perfect “guy” card.
    Karen

  31. Love the card Ann!
So clean and crisp just a like a perfect sailing day. This will be a great card for a male sailing friend of mine.
I did notice no distressing, no pearls but it looks fabulous, just the way it is.

  32. Ann, I love the simplicity of this card. It is perfect for that image. The red (Poppy Parade) and white scream nautical.

  33. I love it! That’s exactly the type of cards I usually make, so I’m excited to see one made by you. I love all the layers! I still can’t wait to see an Ann card using that stamp though. (Fingers crossed that you got that awesome nautical paper and some baker’s twine). 🙂

I knew I should have put Poppy Parade and So Saffron on my last order. I always miss out on playing on so many color challenges. I’ll see if Daffodil Delight and one of my reds will work with Baja Breeze because I love this challenge on Sunday.

Hugs on the lost mojo. I find that when mine is gone, challenges are my best friends. Just continuing to make SOMETHING gets me back in the groove much faster than being grumpy about it.

  34. love the layers and textures. thanks for sharing your work with us!
    stay well,
    annmarie

  35. I love it! You do clean and simple as beautifully as you do your more detailed and intricate cards! I love bright colors and these are wonderful together! I will definitely be using this color combo soon!

  36. Yikes! Primary colors (even if they are toned down a bit)….SOOOOO not my forte! I like how you chose a masculine image for this color scheme, though. Seems very apropros, and very nautical indeed! (Oh, I miss your pearls!)

  37. The ocean breeze swept the card clean! I love it – so fresh and breezy! Very nautical and classic – Ralph Lauren would be proud!

  38. You achieved your “clean, fresh look” and the colors work well together. I like the new stamp, too. Very nice card.

  39. I love your “clean and layered” card. What a perfect phrase for it!! It’s exactly my style and now I have a name for it! The card is perfect with the colors and the clean look!

  40. Another CAS! See, you can do them wonderfully! Love the bright colors and layout. Also love the stamped image in black to really pop out amid all the bright colors. Great card!

    Yvonne

  44. Ann,
I love this card! I love the clean classic lines which are just right for the “sailboat” theme. I know it’s not your usual style of card with embellishments and pearls, but i think it’s the perfect masculine card. LOVE IT!
