Spring for The Paper Players

“Spring has Sprung” at The Paper Players, and your challenge this week is to create a “Spring” themed project. As for me, when I think of spring, one of the first things I think of is…flowers! Of course, what is Spring without some bling? I have made sure that my card has bling a-plenty in the form of pearls, rhinestones and glitter! Won’t you join us in our challenge this week?

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • Pearls! The stem of these flowers, from the “For Everything” stamp set, just cried out for pearls. And who am I to say “no” to these flowers? So I obliged by using strips of Basic Pearls. Because they are adhered together, I just snipped off what I needed from the strip. It was so easy! Of course, I also added a few pearls to the petals and the butterfly, too!
  • Rhinestones! The little “butterfly trail” was created by simply adding Basic Rhinestones.
  • Glitter! Dazzling Diamonds were added to the sentiment and the butterfly. Baja Breeze Glass Glitter also adorns the butterfly’s wings. To add glitter to specific areas such as these, I use a small paintbrush to “paint” the area with Tombow Liquid Glue. Then I liberally sprinkle with glitter and shake of the excess.

I had good intentions of not sponging or distressing this card, but a small smudge made it necessary to spritz it using the Color Spritzer Tool and a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker. Of course, that in turn, necessitated sponging the edges with Crumb Cake ink. Still, it is a slightly different card from what I usually make. And you know what…sometimes it is fun to do something a little different…to get out of your comfort zone…even if for just one card!

As I have always said, your comments are important to me. I do read and respond to as many as I possibly can. For those of you who have blogs, it is always a pleasure for me to visit and see what you have been creating. And remember, if you have questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, don’t hesitate to email me! Until next time…

No one else out there quite gives the blingy, edging .slightly grunge effect, but still keeps it feminine-what I would really like is if you were a blog designer too ( in all your spare time 🙂 ) -I’d just say do your magic and it would be perfect!

  32. O.k. so my 1st comment didn’t take so I will add another. It seems we need a video tutorial on the spritzer! Love the details. Not sure if you would want to, but could you color the pearls green to match the leaves? Just curious. Thanks for the tip about the paintbrush and the Tombow glue – that will help I think in the future instead of my usual gloppy mess. Thanks Ann!

  33. What a stunning card!! I knew it would be fabulous with that sneak peek, but it looks completely different than I thought. How do you come up with these absolutely gorgeous cards on a daily basis? Love the butterfly. Why does your spritz come out so evenly and mine is a bunch of blobs? Great job.

  34. I hadn’t even noticed that stamp set, before, Ann. You have brought it to my attention! Very pretty card. I love all your bling.

  35. Wonderful card, Ann, wish I could add something original to all of the other comments! You are a very gifted lady and we are so lucky that you are willing to share. Spring and Winter are arguing here today, one minute spitting snow the next the sun is shining! Our saying here on the Palouse is: If you don’t like the weather now, just wait half an hour. I will just keep looking at your card and thinking SPRING! Have a wonderful Sunday.

  36. I am so looking forward to flowers. Your card is very creative. I love it! (I may be absent from your blog for a while….we’re working on our living room.)

  37. Ann, beautiful spring-like card! So glad you made a ‘smudge’ because the spritzing and sponging make a perfect background. The flowers are so pretty popped on their pearl stems. Oh my, love the butterfly, bling, and sparkly sentiment!

  38. I love how you used this set Ann! The pearls and the butterfly and the overall shine to this card is beautiful!!

  39. Brilliant, love everything about it!

  40. Just when I though I knew my Stampin Up Catalog from cover to cover, you had me going back to Page 62 for this one. What a great stamp set that I had previously overlooked (better go over the entire catalog again in case there are more hidden beauties). Your card is just alive with personality!!!

  43. Hi Ann, OMGOSH!
What a springy, sparkly, surprise. I was happy to hear how you put the glitter glass on the butterfly wings, because I was imagining placing with tweezers, and I would NOT be that patient! so cute though. LOVE the rhinestones and those PEARLS of course, but I would be too stingy to give that many up at one time. Hugs!

  44. Lots of springy blingy & love going on in this card!!!

  45. Ohhhh…. this is just stunning!!! Ann, I love this card – the pearl stemps are fabulous and I have never seen this set before. Or maybe I did and never saw the possibilities until now. Wow… I love everything about this card – the colors, the speckles, the glitz, the pearls, the butterfly and her trail. You knocked this one out of the park.

I’m so inspired now that I’m going to get my craft on as soon as I submit this comment!!!

  46. Stunning card for spring with even more uses for those pearls. I love your solution to covering up little “oops”. I have to remember that. Darlene

  47. Oh the pearls, oh the bling–yes, yes it IS spring! Beautiful card Ann and my favorite part is that beautiful butterfly and her sparkly trail!

  48. Did my comment not take? That will teach me to blab so much!

  49. Hi, Nancy!

It is similar in appearance, but everything on this card comes from “For Everything”. This is the first time I have used this cute little set!

  50. Isn’t that pink flower on the left from the “Polka Dot Punch” set?

  51. So pretty Ann and I really like how you used the pearls for the flower stems. Yes, hopefully Spring is on its way although I woke up to snow on the ground this morning.

  57. Great glam card … love all the bling! Love your signature style of the spritzer! Gorgeous spring card! Hope to finally get to play along this week.

  58. Another stunner. I am encouraged to get out that spritzer again. I have a hard time convincing my class that they really need to have this tool! I should just photograph this card and layer it out for all to see! Thanks for blessing my day. Hugs to the twins! :)))))

  59. You are the master of that color spritzer tool! I either can’t see my specks because I’m too far away, or I move too close and get a blob. I’m going to practice more today because I do love the look of your card. You always amaze me with your talent!

  60. this is so cute, love the little flowers and the butterfly. Love the bling.
