It’s Sunday evening, and two very tired Twins are recuperating from their first AKC dog show in Des Moines, Iowa. Because they wanted to tell you all about it themselves, I gave in and said they could say a few words about their first Dog Show Adventure. If you know anything about Boxers, you know that they can be very persuasive until they get their own way. Against my better judgement…here are The Twins.
Muffy: I am going to go first and tell you all about my very first dog show, because I am the girl and I am smarter.
Brody: But I’m bigger, and I went into the ring first, so I want to talk first. MOM….Muffy is being mean to me again, just like she was to all of the other boy Boxers in the motel room!!!
Me: Muffy, be a big girl, and let Brody be the alpha dog today!
Brody: Thanks, Mom! I got to go into the ring first on both Saturday and Sunday. Mom…why do they call it Saturday when Michelle the Handler wouldn’t let me sit in the ring? And why was it called Sunday when it rained all day? Anyway, I got to go into this big circle called a ring. There were other little boy puppies there. I wanted to play with them, but Michelle wouldn’t let me. On “You-Can’t-Sit-Day”, there was a man in the ring. I think he’s called a “Judd”.
Me: No, Brody. Hot dogs are made from…well…uh…something with hooves. But, Brody, they are not made from “dogs”. You weren’t being a cannibal.
Brody: Whew…I didn’t want to be a can of bull! Anyway, after the strange man touched me, I had to “gait”, which meant that I couldn’t just walk, but I couldn’t run either. It was kind of fun. People clapped, and so I did this little prance. And then they clapped more, because I was cute…
Muffy: No you weren’t! You’re not cute! You’re ugly. I heard Mom say so. She said you just look like some big brown ugly thing with a gorgeous head…
Brody: MOM!!!! Muffy is saying I’m not cute and that you said I was ugly!
Me: Oh, sweetie! Mommy did say your head was gorgeous, and you know that Michelle said that we needed to work on building up your muscles. Muffy Lin…quit saying hurtful things to your brother!
Muffy: Oh, just let me talk, Brody. You are taking way too long to tell the story. OK…So Brody won his class on Saturday and he won his class on Sunday, and he beat some other boy dogs. Big whoop! They were boy dogs…and everybody knows that boy dogs are stinky and have fleas. People want to hear about me…I am the perfect, pretty puppy with the awesome Boxer booty! I am the J-Lo of Dogdom! No…with my Boxer bottom, I am the Kim Kardashian of Kanines! I am beautiful! Everyone loves to look at meeeee!
Brody: MOM…Muffy’s doing it again! Make her stop!
Me: Twins! That’s enough! Go take a nap like good dogs!
Well, to make a long story short, both of the Twins won their classes both days. Brody did have other little boy puppies in the ring with him. Muffy was the only one in her class. If Muffy were telling the story, she would tell you that all the rest of the little girls were scared off by her beautiful looks! But that’s Muffy for you! Until next time…
Way to go Twins!! You and Mom should write a boxer series of books! The perfect bedtime story for tired pups of any species…maybe the first one could be a tutorial on manners – {grin}
Seriously fun post Ann! Hug the twins for me and scratch their ears…Any scrap pages in their future?
Ann this post made me almost shoot water out my nose and all over my computer screen! I love your creative story telling skills.

Yay Muffy and Brody!! You both rocked the ring. 🙂
So excited for both of you! And loved that your mommy let you tell us the story.
My cats Tylher and Binx and I chatted about the twins this morning after reading your week-end adventure and agree that it sounds like the purrr-fect weekend although Binx agrees with me in that females are smarter in getting their way (as proven by your story), males are definitely smarter in life situations!!
You are such a creative storyteller, Ann! Still laughing over the NO SUN day. Huge congrats to you and the twins on a job well done!
Congrats to beautiful babies!!
Congratulations to your funny report und your wonderful dogs. You must be proud! But the twins are really beautiful boxers! The idea of writing a book is perfect: the strange world of humans out of the boxers view. I would buy it 🙂
What a darling narrative! Pets can be such a joy! And your two are very special. Thanks for sharing so much with us!
HAHA…You have me in Stitches Ann! Brody and Muffy are too funny….they bicker worse than my kids! LOL Sounds like they had a great time!

Great job everyone! How long did it take you to write down what the kids were talking about? I am still giggling. Darn, I wish I would have gone to see them in the ring. Maybe another time.
Chris R. from Iowa

OMGosh, the Twins post was hysterical … loved it! Favorite part, I have to admit is Muffy’s J-Lo booty … too funny! Congrats to those precious pups!
Loved the twins’ stories. So cute!
Your story is hilarious. Obviously
you can write as beautifully as you
make cards. thanks for all of the chuckles!! 🙂
Hi Ann,
your twins have to tell us a lot *LOL*. I enjoyed reading their “short-story”.
Congratulation to both of them. BTW: you should make an extra notebook for the twin´s short-stories, so you don´t forget any episode of the twins growing up. ” I hope you can understand what I mean, apologize my bad english.”
hugs and smiles Conny
This must’ve been fun to write! Maybe you have a book in your future. A book about….Muffy and Brody!
Absolutely adorable and very entertaining! I loved reading this! Blue Ribbons – WooHoo!
I am laughing out loud. The stories in their own words were terrific. Congrats to them both. What a great start to their “show” career! I think they should collaborate on a book with their mom about all their experiences.
How cute is that?!! Your dogs are so smart! Congrats on the wins. That’s awesome for their first show!
You’d better start a trophy case because I’m thinkin’ you are going to have lots of ribbons and bowls to show off! So glad the twins had a wonderful first time out!
That cracks me up. I truely did believe my puppy (a 6 month old Corgi) was the only talker.
Congrats to the twins. I’ll be looking for them on TV soon.
I see a children’s book in your future.
…and you won all the blue ribbons for creative writing in school, I’ll wager. What a fun way to start a Monday.
Congrats to both of your babies. I hope you are keeping a diary/scrapbook of their adventures.
Congrats to both of your babies. I hope you are keeping a diary/scrapbook of their adventures.
Oh boy, are they ever typical siblings! Their recount and bantering of the weekend was so funny. Congrats on the wins!
Congrats on the Blue Ribbons! They are both stunning boxers and will be bringing home more and more Blue Ribbons! thanks for sharing!
Congrats to the twins – they look like angels sleeping! Can’t wait for the next update!
OMG this is hilarious. You should write childrens books! Too too cute.
Very cute! Congratulations to both (all) of you!!
Congratulations, Brody and Muffy! You know you won because you have such a nice Mom! So behave for her!
Your story is so fun Ann. Muffy and Brody tell a great story about their time in the show. There needs to be a book in your future, I could see you writing children’s books. Thanks for sharing the tales of Brody and Muffy on their first competition.
You are such a fabulous story teller. Congrats to the twins!
hahahaha! That is the absolute best and YOU Ms. Schach HAVE TO STAR ON YUK YUK’s (I don’t know if you have that in the States) or THE COMEDY NETWORK! You are hysterical – What an incredible off the cuff whit you have and references to beat all!!! I LOVED THAT SO MUCH. I was so laughing! I can just see the pupplettes saying all that! I can hardly believe those little squirts that you JUST brought home have already been trained to do all THIS and have WON WON WON WON!!!!! Congrats ANN. You and Kim and entire Fam must be SOOOOOO Proud, not to mention Muffy and Brody. And how cute that they have middle names too. Oh my goodness – they really are your children! Lucky pooches. This was nothing short of brilliant for a post! xox
Oh, good to hear! I’m proud of Brody. I know it doesn’t say much for Muffy, but I’m sure she will do well with competition, too. At their age, they have a long way to go but I’m sure they will do well. They both look to have the “IT” factor. 🙂
What fun reading their story today! And congratulations to both of them, I know you are a proud Mama!
Very cute! Having two “girls” I totally get it! LOL, love the puppy stories, and could tell that you had a ball writing it!
Oh this was so fun, thanks so much for sharing. Congrats to the babies! 🙂
great storytelling you should write their doghistory as a kids book. My twins are 6 years old Shiloh and Toby beagles. Toby is 45 pounds and Shiloh is 24 pounds and they do not look alike at all.
We adore our fur family as much as you do your dogs.
This story is so precious! I’m serious; you need to write this into a book and submit it for publication. Their adventures are worthy of sharing with others. I love reading about them, and congratulations on thier success.
Oh my goodness, you are too funny…I mean, the twins are too funny telling the story of their adventures. How fun that they won ribbons. Congratulations Boxers, you are both darling!
Awwwwwwwwwww! What a story! You should write a book!!! And YEAH! for the twins… blues in two’s for the twins!
They look so cute napping! Thanks for sharing the news of their first time at a show, and glad you made it back ok. I was afraid you were going to run into some rough weather.
Yvonne
P.S. Hugs for the twins for being so good! Mochas for Mom and Dad!
Congrats guys! You both did great! Ol’ Betsy is going to be proud of her little boxer friends! 😉 Thank you for sharing your story with us! I bet Michelle took a nap after the two of you got home too! LOL
Many Blessings-Tana 🙂
yeah, they got blue ribbons, and such a cute story to tell
What a fun way to start off my morning. Your twin have such a fun way of telling about their weekend. Love their ideas on “Saturday” and “Sunday”. Ann you are a very clever writer. You need to write a book some day. 🙂
