The Paper Players Peek

It’s Saturday, which means it is time for The Paper Players Peek! As you can see, my Paper Players card for Sunday is blue! With Dazzling Diamonds and Pearls, it is fun and feminine! I hope you will join me tomorrow for the reveal.

The Twins Big Adventure

It has been lonely the past two nights. The Twins are with Michelle the Handler in Des Moines preparing for their first show. They were thrilled and happy to see Michelle again. Michelle makes their training fun with treats and toys. Thursday they participated in a “practice” show with a pretend judge. Of course, I thought they looked adorable! Brody was the first to “show”. He did a fabulous job “stacking”, which is when they are posed. He stood like a statue when the judge checked him all over, with one exception. He did not want a stranger looking in his mouth. Now his Dad and I have practiced this with him since he was a tiny baby…so who knows what his problem was! Kids! Brody is not physically mature, but he is being shown to gain ring experience. Here is a picture of Brody just chillin’ Thursday before his trip to Michelle’s:

To give you a perspective as to what he is doing, he is sleeping. His favorite spot is a big, leather ottoman, which I keep covered so he doesn’t scratch it. He always hangs his head over the edge, except now he is getting so big that his head nearly touches the floor. At six months, he is weighing in at 51.4 pounds!

Little Miss Muffy, on the other hand, stacked beautifully, gaited perfectly, and charmed the “judge”. Her only problem was that when it was time for the hands-on physical examination, she sat down…three times! However, by the fourth time she understood the importance of standing. And talk about a diva…Heaven help Michelle! Here is the diva getting her “beauty sleep”:
Michelle told us not to expect them to win right away, since they will need to gain experience. Brody will need to do incline work to build up his muscles, which means that we either need to find some hills to climb, or he needs to learn how to use Mom’s treadmill. Muffy, on the other hand, is looking awesome…she just needs to learn some show manners.

What is so important is that both of my babies absolutely LOVED what they were doing. You could tell that they enjoyed being in the ring, strutting their stuff. It is the start of a new adventure for them and for me. And regardless of what happens in their futures, they will be champions in our household. A year ago this month, my heart was breaking at the loss of my best friend, Missy the Boxer. And although the Twins will never replace her, they are forging their own place in my heart. We are sharing new stories, making new memories, and embarking on new adventures every day! Tomorrow: The Paper Players. Until next time…

  3. Show me more, show me more!!!How stinking cool is this news about the twins. I expect in the next year I will see them willing blue ribbons all the time. Ann you will need to buy a new hutch to keep all that silver in!!!!

  4. Love those babies!!! Sounds like you are going to have some gorgeous contestants in the ring … good-luck to Muffy and Brody! I know how hard it is to lose on of our family pets. So thankful that The Twins are there to bring joy to all of your hearts!

Looking forward to the big reveal tomorrow!

  5. How does Brody sleep like that?!?!? Muffy is a true diva. You sure must be a proud mom. They are beautiful twins.

  6. Loving the peek, looks like a little birdie to me? Awww, sweet pics of the babies. Would love to see pics of them “showing” to, in their little stances looking so fancy. 🙂 Sometimes we watch some of the dog shows and I wonder how the dogs can sit there so calmly while being looked over by a stranger. I don’t blame Brody a bit for not wanting his mouth checked out, lol!

  7. Love the pics of the twins! I can’t wait to hear how they did, win or not, they’re going to love being in the ring. And maybe (fingers crossed)we’ll be watching them on tv in the winners circle. 😉

The colors on the card are so pretty, can’t wait to see the entire thing.

  8. LOVE your puppies! Can’t wait to see pictures of them receiving their first ribbons! ;)))) Not fair – only a peak, now I have to wait until tomorrow! Thanks for blessing my day and bring a sweet look into your babies! 🙂

  9. Ann can’t wait to see the whole card… but I DO know you used a beautiful blue shades, great set and those magical pearls!
Loved the story of the twins. Must be exciting to em”bark” on a new adventure of showing them, and they diffinitely have different sleeping styles.. So cute.

  10. Ann, I can tell this is going to be an awesome card. I love all the pearls and can’t wait. I am off to finish up for the bloghop I am in at SU-Stars. I love the update on the boxers they are oh so cute. Thanks for sharing.

  11. As beautiful as your cards always are (and I am looking forward to this card), my favorite thing about your blog are the twins. I smile out loud(!) whenever you share a story or photos. I love that they are your “family pets” but can still be a diva and a prince in the show ring. Much luck to them both.

  12. I chuckled when I read about Brody’s head ‘heading’ toward the floor, and LOL’d when I saw the diva’s photo. Can’t wait to see the completed card…bling supreme.

  13. What adorable pictures!…I love hearing how they did on their first showing..that must be so muchfun to watch and I’m sure nerve wracking! I’m sure they’ll eventually bring home LOTS of wins! 🙂

  14. The peek is intriguing Ann. I really enjoy hearing about what Muffy and Brody are doing. Your pictures are so cute and they really define their personalities.

  15. Looks like the making of another great card, Ann! Love the comment about the pearls on backorder and who to blame!

Henry likes to lay on the couch with his head over the side and upside down. Helps with sinus problems maybe or hoping for a belly rub. Who knows.

How about a trip or two up and down Snake Alley when it is warmer though the last few days have been wonderful. Park downtown and a walk around north hill would be fun to look at all the old houses and trust me there are some hills! Even a few trips around the “lake” around the hospital has a bit of an incline and is fun if you can stand the wind.

Can’t wait to hear the outcome of this weekend and the twins!

  16. Love your story about your twins! Am happy that they are allowed on the furniture also! We have 2 dogs and 4 cats and I have given up trying to find a spot to sit!! LOL
Can hardly wait to see the beautiful
card you have created for Sunday.
The sneak peak is beautiful as is!

  17. I love how Muffy Lin’s pink collar matches her pink nose! So glad my girl is a fashionista!

  18. Let’s face it! They are our four legged children. I hope they have a fun weekend. And you and your husband too. Good luck!

  19. You know, I would not like someone looking in my mouth either! lol. And I love how Brody sleeps upside down and Muffy sleeps like a Diva. They are adorable.

Love the sneak peek. Pearls and diamonds, oh my!

  20. Your boxers are so beautiful! They look like they are going to be champions to me. I know I won’t be disappointed when you reveal your latest creation tomorrow. Cant ‘t wait!

  21. If the pearls ever go on the backorder list, I definitely know who to blame. 🙂 You make me want to throw caution to the wind and actually USE my supplies instead of hoard them. I really wish I could come spend a day with you; you are so talented and make such beautiful works of art.

Best of luck to the twins!

  22. Love the sneak peak, I can’t wait to see the full card! I know it’s going to be awesome as usual! And I love reading about the twins. Our Golden, Dusty sleeps the same way as Brody! You wonder how they can be comfortable! I totally understand your love for them, our furbabies are the loves of our lives, we can’t imagine life without them. I know Brody and Muffy will do wonderful!

  23. Ann that looks like a card I’m gonna love, and that you totally enjoyed making! Fun to read about the twins; you are a proud mom. And so sorry about Missy. I TOTALLY get where you are coming from; my 15 year old cat died in October this past year, and I am still missing him soooo much.

  24. Can’t wait to seed it, Ann. It has one of my favorite stamps on it so I am sure to love it! Love your doggy tales, too.

  25. Can’t wait to see this card!!!
I am in tears today reading the love you have for your “Twins” and the loss of Missy.
