If you know me, you know that I have a difficult time with quick and easy cards. I am all about layers and distressing and embellishing. But how can I ever become comfortable with this style of card if I never practice making it? SO…I gave myself a time limit of one hour (which is really quick for me) to design and make today’s card. What got done, got done. No re-do’s. No Sponge Daubers. No Color Spritzer Tool. And no pearls. Yep…You heard me right…No pearls!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Quick and easy scallops! The Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die can be used to produce large scallop trims in minutes! Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, and Naturals Ivory card stock, plus the “Tiny Dots” pattern from Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper, were zipped through the Big Shot to form these luscious layers of scallops. (Steppin’ It Up: Add Basic Pearls to the Chocolate Chip layer, and distress the edges of the others with Soft Suede ink.)
- Color! Don’t be afraid to ink up your sentiments in color! Birthday Wishes from Sincere Salutations was inked in Garden Green and stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock, for a look which coordinates with the Designer Series Paper. (Of course, it was so hard for me not to distress the edges with Soft Suede ink, or add a mini-Basic Pearl to dot the “i” in Birthday.
- Glitz and Glam! A Chocolate Chip button from the Sweet Stitches collection, topped with a Sweet Stitches Fabric Brad, adorns the center of a Very Vanilla satin bow. (Given more time, scrunchy Very Vanilla Seam Binding would have looked cute. Or how about tinting some seam binding using a Garden Green or Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Marker?)
As I created this card, I kept thinking of ways to “Step It Up”. A Trinket Crown suspended from the bow, along with the “Queen for a Day” sentiment from the Clearly for You stamp set, would be adorable. Maybe I will go ahead and do a stepped-up version later. How fun would that be!
Don’t forget that it’s Blog Candy time here at The Stampin’ Schach!
To celebrate my Second Anniversary as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I am offering the following blog candy:
- Northern Hearts stamp set
- Welcome Neighbor Designer Series Paper
- Bashful Blue 1″ Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon

This is simply LOVELY, Ann! Just goes to show how plentiful your talent is!
VERY nice, Ann! I love the big scallops! ๐ tfs
Allow me to say that everytime you present and “easy” card, they are my favorite! I’d love to see more of your “easy” cards that you find so hard to do, really they are your forte.

Hi Ann, This is another pretty card! Love all those layers and that gorgeous paper!
Gorgeous colours! Love all the layers and scallops. I can’t believe
you still call this simple!! LOL
Another winner!
Hey there! I love this card. The multiple scallops are gorgeous on this card. You did an absolutely beautiful job on this. Seriously, you made me laugh right out loud when you said you gave yourself an hour! OMGosh, you sound just like me. . .too funny. Best, Curt
Enjoyed viewing your newest card. I liked the scallops and how large they are. I’m going to attempt making one. I have a problem with doing simple cards – I also seem to put extras on when not needed.
Great job! I love the way the green stands out!
Change the sentiment and I think this card would also work for St. Paddy’s Day. I seem to only use green at that time. Love the scallops on the card. Dar
Quicj and simple, guit pulling our leg! Love all the layers and the colors. But, the button/bow is the bomb! You could have just used a black or is that brown did you say and just put the bow and the button thing on it and that would have been a lot quicker! But, since it is all about the details we gotta have some layers at least – hence the scallops. Of course you needed the sentiment too but maybe one teensy little pearl to dot the eye to make it an Ann card for sure! Anyway, what fun card. My mom would have loved it with all the green! It is sort of springy just like the weather is this week!

I love all the scallop layers. You do such great work Ann!
I’m not calling you a liar, but this card does not look quick and simple to me ๐ ๐ Regardless… it sure packs a powerful punch!
This is really adorable – I have tried that time limit thing – never works for me……… ๐
Another great card, love these color. I’ll be watching for the stepped-up version!

This is no quick and easy to me. But you, sure!!!! It looks just as pretty as others you have done with more time put in it. Love it.
There might not have been pearls, but the button is fabulous!!
I really like the colors on this card because it could be used for either a male or female birthday card.
And can I just say I’m loving the blog candy. That stamp set is awesome as is the rest of the candy.
Lovely card, Ann! That big bow & button just set off your scallop trims perfectly!
Very pretty card. I agree it’s hard to not keep adding to a card. An embellishment here, a technique there and a simple card becomes a masterpiece. Love your work!
Great card Anne. I hear you. This is so not my style but I have been thinking I need to start practising it to share with others and be a little less intimidating to new stampers! Nicely done!
WOW – that’s it – WOW! :)))))))
Nicely done. It is clean and simple! lovely color combination and I really like the brad!
What a beautiful card! I love the green and I love your work! Thanks for sharing!

Talk about the luck of the Irish! I love this card, but I will admit it is hard for me to do quick cards as well. I can’t wait to see the stepped up version. Mmmm, pearls maybe?

Wow, this is a great card and I love the green, it really reminds me of Spring… which can’t come too soon for me! You are very talented and I love coming to your blog every day… blog candy or naught! Tks for sharing.
I’m not sure about the “simple” description but it is a lovely card. It screams “spring” to me!
This is a beautiful card as is, but like you, I’m always looking at the possibilities. I can’t wait to see your “stepped-up” version too!
I chuckled when you said,” This card only took me an hour.” (I just spent two hours making a new baby card) And again when you said, “To step it up….” HA!!! You are like the little girl who said, “I’m sitting down on the outside, but I’m standing up on the inside.” (Me, too!)
But your gorgeous creation has inspired me to give quick and

Just beautiful! You chose the right papers to help give an air of sophistication to your CAS card. And no pearls – oh, my!
WAY cute, Ann! I love the colors and how you put the brad in the button!
Ok, I think I am finally over my shock and can leave a comment! The first thing I said was “where is the pearl? I know it’s there!” LOL!! Ann, this card is proof that you are a master at ANY style! Absolutely beautiful with all of the scalloped trims. I always enjoy visiting you and the inspiration you share. You are awesome! ๐
Oh, this is so pretty. I hope you don’t mind if I case it? CAS is only easy to me if I can copy something. LOL! I never thought of myself as a ‘fussy’ person until I tried CAS.

What a great format Ann! I love the basic card with ideas for stepping it up in many different of ways. And thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone to try this.
Ann, this is beautiful! Especially the bow with the button. I have this paper, and I can’t wait to try this design.
Love the color combination. Have a friend with a birthday next month who happens to be Irish. This will work out wonderfully. I can’t tell from the picture. What are the 2 greena & vanilla pieces that are on the top of the card – are they the designs cut from the dsp? Thanks for your inspiration. I would have never thought you’d only been doing this 2 years!
If this is simple, I wonder what you’d say about my “simple” cards! Lovely card and I like the colors!
The scalloped layers are so fun. Love the button and brad on the bow.
I just love to paper! I love all the layers…Just wonderful.
The card may have been quick and easy but it is striking!!! Love it!

Congrats on making a “simple” card! It looks quite involved even though you write that it is not. I got a kick out of how your mind was wanting to add more. All the “fussy” stuff is just part of you! I so admire your work.
Love all the layers on this card, so soft and pretty… love the greens, also my favorite color..It could also double for St.Patrick’s Day card..
