Twins in Training; Now Booking Classes, Retreats, and Parties

I have no card ready to post today, but instead I do have two pictures of The Twins. These were taken the Monday before Muffy’s “wrestling mishap”. They were visiting their handler, Michelle, who was working on show ring training and etiquette with them. Michelle’s friend graciously took these pictures and forwarded them to us, since “Mom” and “Dad” stayed out of sight during the training. Muffy, as always, is being a little diva. Michelle loves Muffy’s lines and her sparkly personality. If she were a card, she would have lots of “bling”!

As usual, Brody is doing an excellent job…but yikes…his tail is down! Michelle is a professional Boxer handler whose list of impressive wins include campaigning one of her clients all the way to the Eukanuba National Dog Show. Michelle’s assessment of the Twins at this point is that Muffy is ready to begin her show career. Brody still needs to mature more, but in order to get him used to the sights and sounds of the show ring, he will be shown on a limited basis until he is ready. She loves Brody’s head and thinks he is adorable. If he were a card, he would be “clean and classy”.

Many of you have emailed me asking for an update on Muffy’s condition. I am happy to report that she has been an excellent patient. The swelling is greatly reduced, and although she favors her leg slightly, I believe that she will be ready to show at her first show in February. During the first few critical days, she spent a lot of her time sleeping, which helped me in my quest to keep her from jumping!

The upcoming months will be an adventure. But each of the Twins is first and foremost a member of our family, and that is their true calling in life. They have brought so much joy to us since their arrival. Yes…there were times when I wondered if I would survive early puppyhood…if I were too old to raise not one, but two bouncing Boxer babies. But each day gets easier as they get me better trained!

  1. They are gorgeous! I so love the fact that you find such joy with them and call them member of the family. I am such a huge dog lover, and I can’t imagine my life without my beautiful boys. I love how you call them “The Twins”. You are my kind of person! Best, Curt

  2. Wow! Your “babies” don’t look much like babies anymore! But they are so sleek and gorgeous. So glad Muffy is getting better. Between the leg and the bee sting, it sounds like she is the one usually in trouble. But how we love our fur babies. Sure miss mine.

  3. Glad Muffy is better! Very exciting for showing the dogs! Our family shows cattle, the stance your dog has is really good!! They will do great!

  4. They are sooooo big! Wow! Beautiful, too. Good recovery, Muffy!!

  5. Ann, what gorgeous babies they have become. Fabulous shots. I am SOOOOO thrilled that Muffy is going to be OK. Thank you for keeping us updated.

  6. My Goodness they are stunning animals!! It appears they are in good hands with their handler. I did not know they were trained so young it makes sense to me to get them used to being in the spotlight/ sights and sounds of the ring. I have two very large Ret/Lab mixes they are like night and day personality wise like your two beauties. I really enjoyed your card description of each 🙂

  7. Ann, you have 2 mighty fine looking boxers. I am so glad that they are family members first because they can be the most playful dog. So much fun. The one thing about puppies, they train quickly and there are no diapers!!

  8. These pups are HUGE! And so stoic looking. They look just like to boxers on the UK Channel where the champs are shown! They are gorgeous and I am SO glad the healing has occurred that everyone hoped for. Best of luck for your puppies entry into “doggie challenges!!”

  9. Oh my I can’t believe how fast the twins are growing. They are just gorgeous. Megan often looks at your posts of the two because she loves boxers. Good luck with training.

  10. Ann, your boxer babies are beautifully athletic looking – as boxers are supposed to be. Assuming they will both become stars in the ring, do you plan to breed them (not together of course)? As a life long lover/owner of boxers, I always look forward to you sharing about your boxers.
Question: Is ear docking boxers still required by the AKC?

  11. Such beautiful twins! So glad Muffy is doing well. Very stately puppies! Thanks for blessing my day. 🙂

  12. They are such beautiful twin and both look like they will be wonderful in the ring. You must be so proud!!

It’s good to hear that Muffy is doing better and that she sleep a bunch for a few days, give you a little relief as well.

  13. Glad to hear Muffy is doing better.. I didn’t realize your puppies we be that big already.. They are about the same size as my minature horses lol… I could not imagine what it would be like when they start playing inside the house… now I know why you didn’t have a tree this year..lol

  14. I’m so happy that Muffy is doing better and will be ready for her first show! They both are absolutely gorgeous, wow!! Your card references had me laughing out loud. I was so happy I wasn’t actually drinking my coffee when I read your “bling” comment or I would have had a messy laptop. Haha! Have a great day! 🙂

  15. Ann, they are beautiful! So glad to hear that Muffy is doing so well with her leg. You have obviously taken good card of both puppies. I can’t believe how big they are. Are the fully grown yet?

  16. We have had two dogs in the past that were “mutts” although we enjoyed them so much. I can’t imagine either of them having gone through an obedience training. Your twins look wonderful.

  17. Bling and clean & classy definitely describe The Twins perfectly!

I’m so happy to hear Muffy is on the mend.

  18. Thanks so much for sharing, the babies are beautiful! So glad to hear Muffy is doing better. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂

  19. I can’t believe how big they’ve gotten in just a little over a month since I’ve last seen them! They are beautiful puppies! And you are a wonderful mom!

  20. Ann, I am so glad that Muffy is doing better and will be able to show. Must be interesting to prepare your twins for showing. The reference to bling and classy for your puppies are a hoot.

  21. Cute pup pictures! They have their stance down very well. They are gorgeous Ann! Our pets keep us young and active and give us so much love, ok, and some frustration. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.

  22. I’m glad Muffy is feeling better. It’s neat that these will be “show” dogs. I have no experience in that whatsoever. I have never owned dogs, due to my asthma, but I’ve owned one lazy cat! (rest his soul) Good luck with the shows.

  23. Oh they are beautiful! I love bling and classy, that works well! lol. good news about Muffy and I hope she does well at her first show. My boys matured late too, so Brody has time, lol.

  24. I am glad Muffy is doing much better. My daughter and her husband has 2 boxers and I know what you are going through. They can be a loveable handful. Pictures are awesome they are getting so big. Have a great day

  25. Truly gorgeous pups Ann! I’m so impressed with how well they stand still and alert for their trainer!…maybe someday I’ll be watching you and Muffy/Brody on TV! 😉

  26. Ann the twins look beautiful, as I knew that they would! Looks like they are both doing a great job. I can’t get over how big Brody is….He’s really got a tall back….notice how the handler is sitting differently with both of them?! Thanks for sharing your twins with us….just think, they’re keeping you young! Many Blessings-Tana Conley

  27. Ann so glad to hear Muffy is on the mend. I did not know your twins were going to show… how exciting. I guess I don’t know much about that, but in the photos they certainly don’t look like puppies anymore. Pretty impressive.

  28. I love the card reference!!! Never to old for critters… they make us smile and laugh. I’m so glad Muffy is better and will be ready to go!!! Hugs,
