After time off for the holidays, The Paper Players are back with their weekly challenges. For Challenge 29, it’s Valentines! I hope that you enjoy my inspiration card, featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Be My Valentine stamp.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Cherry delight! “Be My Valentine” was inked with Cherry Cobbler and stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock. It was inked a second time and stamped onto Shimmery White card stock. The Shimmery White flowers and banner were then snipped out and used to adorn the Naturals Ivory heart. In addition, Basic Pearls were added as accents, and the edges were distressed with Soft Suede ink.
- Frame it! Distressed and fussy cut, this image from Notably Ornate is the perfect frame for the Be My Valentine heart!
- Gilded Roses! Gilding the new Vintage Flower Adornments is easy! Simply coat the edges of the petals using a VersaMarker, and heat emboss with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder!
- Burnished beauty! The Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder “pops” after embossing with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Just brayer on VersaMark, sprinkle with embossing powder, and heat!
A Muffy Emergency
(Muffy Resting Comfortably after Her Pain Medication)
Muffy possibly fractured the growth plate in her left front leg. During our supper this evening, she and Brody were tusseling on the couch, when they both fell off. I saw it all happen, as if it were in slow motion. Muffy’s front leg was splayed out at an awkward angle and all 40 pounds of Brody landed on top of it. We immediately called the vet, (Dr. Remmers was on call), who met us at the office within 10 minutes. She took two x-rays, and cannot say yes or no as to whether the growth plate is fractured, so she is erring on the side of caution. There is soft tissue trauma and bruising. The good news is that there is no separation of the bone, if it is indeed fractured. The bad news is that if it does separate, they will have to do surgery to put the bone back in place and actually pin it in position. Dr. Remmers said that this is a horrible operation. The next few days are critical. Muffy is not to jump…try telling that to a five-month-old Boxer puppy. If the elbow swells more or if she starts to favor her leg more, we have instructions to call the vet immediately. Muffy’s leg does not have a splint on it, because the vet said that with a fracture of the growth plate, a splint can do more harm than good. On the bright side, Muffy’s behavior was excellent. She sat and stayed for the x-rays. Hurray for Obedience School! She is scheduled for her first show on February 19th.
As always, your comments are very important to me. I read them all, and if you have a blog, I do try to leave comments in return. Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away. And if you find it in your hearts, could you please say wee doggy prayer for Muffy the Boxer? Until next time…
Prayers for Muffy are going up! Thank you for sharing your art!
Best wishes!
Stephanie

All my comments about your stunning card vanished when I read about Muffy. SO sorry! Yes, I will be saying a prayer for her healing, hopefully before her scheduled show.
Oh no! Poor Muffy! I will say puppy prayers for her. It sounds like she is in great hands and I know she has a wonderful Mom to take care of her. Wishing Muffy a speedy recovery!
And onto your marvelous card! I adore what you did with those roses! I am going to have to give that a try.
Yet again another beautiful card. You are such an inspiration! Hope Muffy gets better quickly. We are a family with many dogs too and they are definetley part of the family.
Poor Muffy! Hopefully she has a speedy recovery. Ann, I love your blog. Everything you do is so beautiful!!
Good thoughts and prayers for Muffy! How sad! I love the gilding on your card, Ann! Just beautiful.
Gorgeous! I love the vintage color palette, and the metallic finish on the tulip border. Really a knock-out!
THAT DOG IS HUGE!!!! What happened to that little bitty pup! lol Ann, you have just sold me on 3 things I was not going to order because I didn’t like them…but now, aha! I LOVE THEM! This card is more than gorgeous…it is sensational! The folder – how you have created the two tone…it is now on my order. Brilliant Ann! And the lace in the ribbon…who but you! And the gold tips? Order up! Ann, the card is SO beautiful to look at. You have created such a unique and gorgeous piece of work. It is a creation of LOVE for the Holiday of LOVE!!!

really gorgeous card! WOW!
Ann this card is just jaw dropping. This color and embellishments are amazing, and how about that embossed edge finish? Wow. I love your vintage style so much!
I feel so bad for your poor puppy. I keep trying to imagine a 5 month puppy sitting still though. OMG. Of course we will all say a puppy prayer that no surgery is needed.
A prayer goes out for Muffy! I hope she heals wonderfully and can move forward completely healthy, happy and pain free!!
This card is fit for a KING!!!! I read poor Muffy’s story but before I did I said to myself dang this is a good looking boxer …now I know why…I think (and I am not a judge but) I think she is a champion. Best of luck in the ring!
I will certainly say a prayer for Muffy and for you, her mother. It’s often harder on the parents, isn’t it? I hope she is better soon.
Poor Muffy. I feel so bad for her. My fingers are crossed hoping & wishing that she does not need surgery.
On to a brighter note–your card rocks! It is beautiful and elegant. Love the gold on the Tulip EF.
Such an elegant card. Love the gilded roses. My heart hurts for your Muffy and you. It’s “ruff” when they can’t tell you if it hurts or not. I will add her to my boxer prayers; I already have one on my list.
Ann – I always love your cards and your style, but this might be my absolute favorite of the cards I’ve seen here!! Beautiful job and very inspiring!!
Very classy card, Ann! It’s beautiful! Sorry about Muffy. Hope all goes well!
Oh, no, Ann, I’m so very sorry to read about Muffy! This little one has gone through so much. My thoughts, prayers, love, and hope for a painless, seamless, non-surgical recovery are with you and her.
Your card is amazing…once again! I love everything about it as I always do!
Oh, my gosh on two accounts! First, the card is absolutely fabulous! So many wonderful details! But more importantly, I hope that Muffy is OK. She is such a beautiful Boxer. I know how playful they are, so I know that you will have your hands full keeping her quiet! ~Bonnie~
OMG!! WOW! Beautiful card. I love this elegant and vintage look. All the work you put into it — it’s gorgeous. OK — now I’m going to have to get the stamp sets
What a stunning card as usual Ann. Your attention to detail is incredible.
I know Muffy will recover soon enough. But I too feel your sadness for her pain. Being the Mommy of growing puppies is a minute by minute adventure. You never know what they are going to get into next. Puppy prayers are sent your way.
I thank God that He cares about every detail about us and that includes our animal family as well. Am praying for a quick recovery and that God eases her pain and keeps her peaceful so that she can be up and jumping and running around soon.
LOVE, LOVE LOVE YOUR CARD. Such a beautiful design, all the details, right down to the little rosettes. just beautiful. I hope your little boxer is on the mend soon. She’s a pretty puppy.
Oh lil Miss Muffy, give her a squeeze for me!!! She’ll be ok mom, she will!!
In a line up of cards, I could always pick out an Ann original – perfectly vintage and well, perfect!!!
Ann- Our prayers are with you and Muffy! May she heal quickly without the surgery:-)
Your card is gorgeous as usual! Love the combination of the frame from Notably Ornate with the Be My Valentine stamp along with all of the other vintage details! Truly a masterpiece!
Oh Ann, what a terrible thing to happen to Muffy. My thoughts are with you and her as I know what it is like to have an injured pet especially because they can’t let you know where it hurts.
On a happier note, your Valentine’s theme card is beautiful and I love how you have integrated all the elements.
p.s. hope your sweet Muffy feels better soon!
such a rich elegant card, I LOVE it!! 🙂
Ann, your card is so beautiful. I love those details!!! Muffy has my love and prayers… poor girl. Try to breathe and relax!!! It doesn’t help though. Hugs,
Beautiful card! Love the colors and the great design.
Poor Muffy! I hope it’s just a contusion. I guess this is why we tell our kids, “no jumping on the couch!” Even puppies can get injured. I will say a prayer for Muffy, she has her first show coming up and many many more to follow.
Your card is lush and elegant! But let’s talk about Muffy Lin……wow that poor baby! She needs her own lucky horseshoe – maybe you bettr just buy her the horse! Hoping she (and you) stay calm and the injury doesn’t worsen. xoxoxox
Ann
Gorgeous card. It is so rich and luscious and wonderful. I love how you mixed it with Notably Ornate – a marriage made in heaven.
Poor Muffy, you know she has my doggy prayers.
Hugs
Jaydee
Your card is beautiful…so rich looking! I would never have thought of burnishing the raised areas of embossing folders. Fabulous idea! Give sweet Muffy the Boxer a hug for me. Poor dear!
Hugs to you all! Doggy prayers to you all plus Dr. Remmers for her guidance. But, Muffy is one tough cookie and I know she will be A-OK! Can hardly wait until the twins are in their terrible 2’s to see what happens then! Hope Brody doesn’t try to get her to play and jump around. I wonder what he thinks about the situation. We all know dogs can think!
Card – grogeous but I think I would have not made the two rosettes so vertical but that is just me! I love the vintage feel and the colors are so pretty. Love all your touches. I think that tulip embossing plate thingy has great potential – love what you did with it!
Chris R. from Iowa
I am a follower of your blog and enjoy your work but just had to comment today about how beautiful that card is. Gorjus!
Ann this is truly stunning! I love love love how you combined these stamp sets! The distressing is gorgeous! As for poor Muffy…I can’t belive the lil gal is injured again! She seems to have an apt for the “unforuntate”! Poor thing. 🙁 I hope she heals quickly and no surgury is needed! It will be a miracle if you can keep her from jumping! LOL
{SMILES}
How’s Mom holding up after the accident? Best wishes to Muffy for a speedy recovery. You are so incredibly creative Ann. Beautiful card.
My best doggie wishes for a speedy recovery for Muffy! Your card is simply gorgeous. Love the little touches like on the Rosettes and tulip frame. You also see a deeper way to bring out the best in the accessories! Hugs, M
My heart is breaking for y’all. She will definitely be in my prayers-as will you and trying to keep her “still”.
And the card-pure Ann, as in elegant and stylish!
Awww poor Muffy… Pray everything works out for her.
Ann your card is so stunning!!!! Love the vintage feel. I love how you did the gold embossing on your card, never would have thought to use the brayer. Great technique..

Poor Muff! I will, indeed, say a prayer for her little leg.
ANd you card == wow! You knocked my socks off with that! Hey, you still have my address handy for when you’re sending it to me, right? 😉
This card is soooooooooooo beautiful. I love all the details and the embossing is a great way to make the final touch, to an already excellent card.
Poor Muffy, she sure has had her share of mishaps that have caused her pain. I will give my best try at puppy prayers for her. Get better Muffy! Also,I will wish you the best on trying to keep Muffy a puppy from jumping.Good Luck!
Yvonne
I’m so sorry poor Muffy is ailing. I hope she heals quickly!
Your card is so elegant! I absolutely love it! Pure Ann Genious!
First of all – your card ist BEAUTIFRUL, I wish I would be able to buy these stamps!
We have two dogs and I know how terrible it is, not to know what is going to happen. I hate it to know that they are in pain – also knowing that I can do nothing to help, awful.
I wish you loads of luck.
(Excuse my rotten english)
