Serene Snowflakes for The Paper Players Color Challenge

The Paper Players know that stampers are busy this time of year getting ready for the holidays. To make this challenge an easy one in which to participate, YOU select the color combination….it’s the “Your Favorite Color Combination Challenge”! The goal is to simply showcase your favorite color combination for a specific type of card. For example, you may like Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive for Christmas, or Brushed Silver, Shimmery White and Brushed Gold for anniversaries. How easy is that? All we ask is that you post a new project. Since I still needed to make a few Christmas cards, I selected Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, and a Neutral…my favorite combination for holiday cards. I can’t wait to check out all of your favorites!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • The Midas touch! Nothing adds elegance to a card like a touch of gold embossing! The large Serene Snowflake image was stamped in VersaMark onto Naturals Ivory card stock and heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Markers add a touch of color.
  • Layers! The Serene Snowflakes 3″ circle was layered upon a Cherry Cobbler Scalloped Circle created by using the Big Shot and the Scalloped Circle Bigz Die. The Always Artichoke Deck the Halls Top Note die was trimmed and layered onto a Cherry Cobbler Top Note. Even more layering occurs with the Decorative Label and Designer Label Punches.
  • Distress! All edges were distressed with Soft Suede ink, while a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker was paired with a Color Spritzer Tool to add speckles.
  • Glitz and Glam! Basic Pearls adorn the Scallop Circle, while Champagne Glass Glitter encircles the central image.
  • The finishing touch! The “Swirly Snowflake” from Serene Snowflakes was heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and colored with Stampin’ Write Markers. It was snipped out and popped up in the center of the Large Serene Snowflake. A Basic Pearl was added to its center.

Have you ever ran out of a supply in the middle of a card? Well, that happened to me with this card. I had envisioned a beautiful double Cherry Cobbler bow, but alas I did not have enough Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding. Then I thought I would just scrunchy up some ribbon. But as you can see, there was not enough to adequately scrunch or pleat. I did take a quick picture of it before I removed that section of the ribbon. You can get an idea of how it will look when I get in my new supply of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding…only it will be much fuller!

Which do you like best…plain or pleated? Please let me know by leaving me a comment.
I hope that you enjoyed my favorite Christmas Color Combination! I can hardly wait to see your favorite color combinations. And remember, I am only an email away if you have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use. Until next time…

  6. Ann your card is so elegant and rich. I just love that. I like them both equally. Shopping done? I have the mail lady, paper guy, garbage guy to do yet. Plus I didn’t make enough cards!!! Ooops. Hugs,

  7. Anne your cards are beautiful! I like them both, but the pleated gets top spot with me! It draws attention to the right side of the card as well as the left. Great card. Thanks for sharing!
    Joan!!!

  8. Love your work! This card is especially gorgeous. I didn’t really like this snow flake stamp and you saw the possibilited and make it beautiful! I have never cared for bunched ribbon. Both look great on this card, but I prefer straight.
    Diane

  9. Aamzing as always. I love this beautiful snowflake but you have taken it to another level. Wow!

Love the pleats! And I love the touch of lace. I sure don’t use my often enough.

  10. WOW!!! I LOVE THIS COLOR COMBINATION AND LAYOUT!! I think I like the “pleated” ribbon — it gives it a little more “vintage” look.

  11. Beautiful~!! I wouldn’t want to give them away!

  12. I love all the layering on this card, and the vintage color scheme is gorgeous. Personally, I like it better without a bow, and the pleated ribbon adds nice texture and visual interest. Beautiful!

  13. Beautiful cards. I think I like the one with the bunched ribbon better although both of them are grogeous. TFS

  14. Oh my gosh, Ann! The glass glitter and the pearls are stunning. Beautiful card…and, of course, my favorite is the scrunchy ribbon! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. Wow! The shading on this card makes it look so vintage, while the gold embossing and rich colors make it look so regal. I have been away from the computer for a few days. It looks like I have some catching up to do! ~Bonnie~

  16. Ann, I don’t like when you offer choices…Ugh, I am the most indecisive person in the universe. Both are pretty, the straight ribbon looks clean but I have to say that the pleats are…are you ready…”Schach-tastic”! You rocked this card, as always. All of the layers are lovely, I especially love the crafty layering around the sentiment. Ok, I could go on and on…but it is a stunning Christmas card. This set has never looked better. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. They are both fantastic! I can’t decide.

    Robbie

  18. I like the pleated one much better, but all your work is wonderful.

  19. Ann…. can we be any more AMAZED? Your cards are more and more stunning everytime you post. Can you say Layers???? Wow. this is a masterpiece! I like both flat and scrunchy but depending “who” would get it, would depend which one I would pick. But BOTH are just amazing. Love the embossed snowflake and the PEARLS… well they go without saying. My FAV! lol

  20. Absolutely beautiful Ann! Thank you for sharing your incredible vision and talent!!

  21. Wow – I think this card is even better than my other favorite! I agree with Jamie on the scrunched vs. not. This is just sooo pretty. This color combo is my favorite of the SU colors. But, I am exploring some other combinations lately like black and gold and silver and blue. Simply gorgeous!

Did you have a layer of ice under the snow yesterday? That wind was, well, still is very strong. We ended up with more than we were suppose to. Hope some of it missed you.

  22. I love love love the color combination!! I love both cards but I think the pleated ribbon card is a little more elegant. ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Ann,
What an elegant card. You are such an inspiration. Thank you.

  24. Beautiful card as usual. I think I prefer the scrunched ribbon. Adds a little more texture to the card.

  25. I found your site yesterday and I’ve been amazed by your creativity. Keep up the GREAT work

  26. I was wowed by the plain one, then when I saw the pleated one, I thought of how much more beautiful it would look with an actual bow. Your techniques are stunning. You gave a good tip of how to rethink an idea when you run out of something. It happens!

  27. Beautiful! Love all the pearls. I vote for the pleated ribbon. Though both versions are gorgeous, the pleated ribbon really jumped out at me.

  28. This is just beautiful! I love the colors…..very rich looking! If I hadn’t seen the one with the bunched ribbon, I would have said the first card was perfect….and it still is but the bunched ribbon is even more perfect. ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. Ann, both are beautiful and stunning cards, although I am leaning towards the scrunchy ribbon.

  30. A Stamp Schach Classic! Love the colors, the pearls……..and the scrunchy ribbon ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. They both are gorgeous, but I like the pleated one best. Your choice of color and design is becoming your trademark.

  32. Ann, another gorgeous card. I ran out of Cherry Cobbler in the middle of a project, too! I love what you did with the snowflake and the pearls.
Hope you missed the worst of the snow. We got around 14″.
    hugs
    jaydee

  33. Oh my stars Ann – you’ve outdone yourself on this one. This card is stunning. Thanks for blessing my day. ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. Another masterpiece. The pearls on the scallops are such a rich touch and shot of dimension. Hugs, m

  35. Super elegant! I too love that color combo. I personally like the ribbon flat, but you have done a great job on both of the cards. Thanks for sharing.

  36. Ann,
I with jamie on the bunched ribbon just has a slight edge on the other card..but both are spetacular! On a personal note..the coach did not let my grandson play hockey. My prayers were answered! Yeah!

  37. Ann,

This is stunning! I love them both. I think the bunched ribbon may have a slight edge over the straight ribbon, but it’s really hard to decide!

    Jamie
