It’s time for the Pals Paper Arts Celebrity Color Challenge. This week our guest designer is none other than the talented Silke Ledlow! If you could not tell from my card, this week’s colors are Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, and Poppy Parade. Daffodil Delight and Poppy Parade are two colors that I equate more with summer than fall, yet I was pleasantly surprised at how well they worked with my favorite fall set from the Holiday Mini….French Foliage. Don’t have these exact three colors in your arsenal? Don’t fret! Feel free to substitute with any colors of similar hue. The important thing is to have fun playing along with the Pals!
- In a pickle about how to combine brights and neutrals? Try using the neutral as your card base and as an accent! With this card, I used a Basic Gray card base, while the “Aspen Leaf” from French Foliage image was inked and stamped in Basic Gray.
- Want to add interest to a simple layout? Try texture! After randomly stamping the leaves from French Foliage onto Very Vanilla card stock, I zipped it through the Big Shot along with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
- Tired of ho-hum sentiments? Layer the labels! The sentiment from Plant Hope was inked in Basic Gray, stamped onto Very Vanilla, and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. A second Decorative Label was punched from Poppy Parade. After cutting it horizontally, it was adhered to the back of the sentiment. Quick and easy!
- It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that bling! Three Poppy Parade Glimmer Brads in the lower right corner helps to anchor the card, and adds just the right amount of bling.
I will be the first to tell you that I found these colors challenging at this time of the year! However, it was fun to stray away from my usual vintage and distressed style, and produce something a little more classic. I hope that you enjoyed it for a change. I do think it is important that as card makers, we stretch ourselves.
Those crazy puppies are running me ragged! The house looks like a war zone, and I find very little “me” time…It’s always Muffy and Brody time! The two have to be separated until Muffy heals from her crate accident, so I have temporarily divided the house into half. Regardless of which half of the house I am in, it’s the wrong half according to the other puppy! However, they are the best little “snuggle bunnies”, and love to sleep in the big bed with mom and dad. They take turns, and tonight is Muffy’s night.
Thanks for bearing with me while I struggle to get back into my routine. I miss my daily stamping and blogging. But as they say…they are only little once! And they are growing up so quickly! As always, your comments are important to me, so please let me know what you think of today’s card. And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

WOW! This is stunning Ann! YOu really rocked this color challenge….love how you embossed the main images too…really adds a nice texture to the card! {SMILES}
Love how you stamped the leaves and then ran it through the big shot! What a clever idea! Your card is just beautiful and speaks fall! Hugs, J
Leslie said … Wow! When we talked about this color combination over the phone I was wondering how you were going to pull it off. You never cease to amaze me with your excellent senses of style and texture. I believe your creativity is nothing short of dazzlingly miraculous!

GORGEOUS!!! The leaves look perfect with this color combo…very refreshing!!! Thank you for inviting me to play along with you all!!
Did you know we also have a boxer…just saw the sweet picture of your babies!!! the are beautiful puppies!!! Hugs ~S~
Beautiful card. Great use of the color challenge. TFS
I love how you have one textured panel and one plain panel – one for me and one for you :o) Very pretty fall card! And if I were your neighbor I would take a snuggle bunny for a sleepover but then there’s that 8 pound poodle who guards the door………
I love the texture in your card. THe way you incorporated the colors makes it very classic!
oooooooooooooohhhh I like this one a lot! I always like all of your little details in everything you do, and this card is no exception. I love the textured leaves next to the smooth leaves CS. Such a contrast… You always make me ‘stretch’ my thought process after reading your handy hints too. I was hoping to enter some fun new challenges, but my PC at home is crashed again. Darn.
So fun to hear how the pups are doing.
I, too, miss your blog, but you’ve got your priorities right. I really like the way you textured the paper after you did the stamping. It creates an interesting contrast to the non-textured section.
In response to Jeanie: The piece on the right is adhered to the front of the card:)
Gorgeous. I love the effect of the leaves run through the square lattice! It gives them so much character!
Mike
It doesn’t make any difference what style you make, they are always beautiful. I have to admit I miss when you don’t blog but I will be a grown up and understand that the puppies MUST come first. If I lived closer I would love to come over and puppy sit to give you some special “me” time. They’re only puppies once.
No dud here 😉 Didn’t know how to create vintage here either LOL – tough color challenge but as usual, you nailed it!! Hugs to those lil pups!!
Ann, I really love the combo as you have done it! I love the backgroud and the softness of your leaves…the remind me of my tree outfront…just barely off (leaves) at this time and a little greying (dying) I love the clarity of your stamp. Such a great contrast. And I love how you split the punch outs!
This is beautiful in its simplicity. I am always amazed at how well you do all of the styles…clean, vintage, distressed, classy, elegant! That is why I never get tired of visiting your site for inspiration. ~Bonnie~
Another beautiful card Ann. The textures work beautifully with the colors. I love the sentiment, too!
Great job on the challenge.
Ann, this is stunning! Beautiful card for the color challenge today!
Love your texture and leaves!
Beautiful card. Always inspiring to see what can be done with color.

Gorgeous Card! I look forward to viewing your blog each day!
Love the card and the puppy progress reports!! One q. on the card–is the piece to the right (with the daffodil punch part) a flap on the front of the card or adhered onto the inside of the card? The way you used the color is great! Thanks. Jeanie
Beautiful! I am lovin’ the touch of the glimmer brads!
You’ve done a beautiful job with some challenging colors, Ann! So glad to hear that the pups are back to being pups! Hope you have some “me” time soon…{hugs}
Hi Ann….mommy of Muffy and Brody… I just love what you did with this color combination. Very striking.
Hugs to the babies and to you too. I miss your blogs but then I think of all the fun you are having. It makes me smile!
Yvonne
I have to completely agree with Pam! A classic beauty, indeed!!! I am so glad to hear about Muffy and Brody. I was telling mom the other day, raising a child is easier. *smile* Hugs,
I always enjoy seeing what little details you add to make your card perfect. This card is no exception … a classic beauty!
