Welcome to another Paper Players challenge! This week it is a Sketch Challenge designed by the talented Nance Leedy. As you can tell, today’s card has a distinct country flair, combining both the Paisley Prints stamp set and the Paisley Party wheel. I could not resist a little cross-stitching with Linen Thread and adding a few torn paper snow drifts! Please join us this week, won’t you? I can’t wait to see your interpretation of the sketch!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Select the right tools for the job! I used to hate using wheels…I couldn’t “wheel” a straight line for the life of me…until I purchased the Stampin’ Around Wheel Guide. You never have to worry about crooked lines or overlapping images. Plus, you can also create mitered corners with it!
- Simply Scrappin’ is not just for simply scrappin’! The luscious Always Artichoke Dotted Paper is from the Christmas Cheer Simply Scrappin’ Kit! Don’t you love it!
- It’s a distressing situation! To accent the edges of the snowdrifts and moon, a little Soft Suede ink and a Sponge Dauber does the trick!
- “Pop” it up! Both the foreground tree and the “Peace” sentiment are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to add depth and interest.
I refrained from adding pearls, but I was oh, so tempted! In fact, I may go ahead and try adding a few to the polka dots for a different look! However, sometimes I have a tendency to over embellish. And did you notice the mistake with the stitching? However, I did not go back and redo it. I am proud of myself for accepting it the way it is!
If my day had not been so hectic, though, I just might have changed it! Our satellite dish decided to go wonky during the Iowa-Ohio State football game, which did not set too well with a family room full of college boys. So Mom spent the afternoon “chatting” on-line with technical support. We would no sooner get it to work, and then it would go out again. A mere three hours and three technicians later, the bottom line was that we needed a new receiver, which will be delivered in three to five business days. Yikes…I guess the family will spend quality time together during the upcoming week without the intrusion of television. And gee…it is a good thing that my husband went out and purchased a new laptop for me to chat with, since my old one crashed Thursday night for the second time in less than a year. No way would I ever trust it again! And to top it all off, one of the Boxer Twins decided to talk on my cell phone. I am assuming that they became frustrated with their inability to push the buttons due to their lack of opposable thumbs, and just decided to chew it to bits. Why wasn’t I watching them more closely you wonder? Where was I at the time? Well, I was chatting on-line with one of the three dish satellite technicians. Maybe it was Stephanie, or Christine, or Alex. Poor Alex! By technician number three, I was not a happy camper! Arghhh! As for the phone…I am due for a new one at the end of December. Let’s hope next week is a better one for me and my electronics!
Please, won’t you help to restore my sanity by leaving a comment? And remember, I am more than happy to answer any questions that you might have about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use…and I can even tell you how to conduct a hard reset on your satellite dish! Until next time…

Love your card! The colors are great — I really need to get the dotted scallop ribbon border punch since it adds so much to the card with your cross stitching. Again, a really beautiful card.
what a great idea! love your card =)
NIcely done. The traditional colors are perfect for this mid-century modern style card. Love it!

Oh man! What a crazy couple of days for you my friend! I can sympathize! Your poor phone…chewed to bits! I am trying not to giggle but it is all too much! LOL! Your card is magnificent BTW! I wanted to say something about your stitching, I can’t see the flub? It looks fab!! I love reading your posts!

Oh Ann… wow what a week you had. I was withuot a PC for a week, but PC, TV and Phone. Holy Moly…i would have flipped and I am NOT technical at all. Hope it gets better going forward.
As for your card…It is beautiful. I love tearing paper… my friends can’t believe I can take pretty paper and just rip away. Too funny. LOVE the polka dots which resembles snow. So cute. I am not a paisley person, but you sure make it look spectacular here.
PS:Thanks so much for the spritzer advice……. you’re the best!
Ann, I just love the gorgeous winter scene you created! I love the stitching, too! I can’t see anything wrong with it?? Your cards are always pretty perfect to me! 🙂 Sounds like technology was not in your favor last week! Since Brody has learned to use the phone, next time you should have him deal with the technicians! Haha! Here’s to a new week! Have a great one!
No pearls or any other embellishments are needed. The card is beautiful as is. I couldn’t help smiling at your post (not at you, with you). Sounds like you’ve had some challenging days. Here’s hoping the coming week brings some peaceful moments.
Wow, Ann! This card just blows me away! It definitely has a country “feel” to it. The snowdrifts add so much rather than just having a straight edge. I am just wondering if you ever make a card that isn’t fabulous! ~Bonnnie~
Ann…….OK– I cannot top that!! What a week ! And you made this lovely card—even though……..So now, I am inspired…I guess I could maek something too, even though……….
Thanks for sharing your card and your week………
What a beautiful card, Ann! I love the Paisley Prints stamp set too…..one of my favorites! We were watching the game at our house too and it definitely did not end well for our beloved Hawkeyes. Hope things go better for you the next new days! Happy Thanksgiving!
Love the card and the colours. They are so clean looking. Look on the positive side, with no TV or telephone, you will have no distractions and can spend the time card making.
I have just started reading your blog and I love your ideas! Very cute card!
The snow drifts are incredible! So chic! I just always love all your details.
Snow beautiful card … perfect embellishments too! Love the touch of cross stitching. Sorry to read your day was full of bad happenings but you made me chuckle with your story. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Sometimes I don’t have time to read your entire blog entry, but I’m so sorry for the bad week you had! It does tend to comoe in three’s doesn’t it? By the way, I was on the phone all of that long one time over a computer issue — and I was NOT a happy camper!
I love, love, love this card!!! It is just gorgeous. The coordinated papers are wonderful – love the color. And the “landscaping” adds so much.
What a day Ann! Hopefully tranquility is restored at your house. If not, pull out your beautiful card and just stare at it. It can’t help but put you in a good place. So calming!
And to top it off, the Hawks lost again at the end! Interesting card and I really like it! Love the polka dot paper and I love paisley. Just a really fun card!
As for the electronics – there is a full moon too! But, where would we be without them?
Now I gotta share a phone/dog story. Maggie, our first, a English bulldog mix, answered the phone one day with Grandpa Wendell was calling long distance. He had to call the operator as to break the connection. Mike’s dad said he wasn’t sure what was going on when it was picked up or rather knocked off. He heard sort of slurping and doggie utterances and decided she must have answered. He said he kept asking Maggie if mom or dad were home. When we came home we couldn’t figure out why the phone was off the hook and all wet. We found out later that night when he called back and by then had forgotten why he had called!
Hope you get everything restored for Thanksgiving Day – what with all the parades and games on!

Ann, fabulous card. I didn’t notice the issue with the cross stitching. I love the fact that the polka dot paper looks like snow! I love the way you used the paisley. Just amazing.
I laughed at your story… sorry… but I could just imagine you sitting for the three hours with three different technicians. You must have the patience of a saint.. I would have lost it way before then. But losing it in the middle of the game… oh that can’t have been good!
Hugs my friend
Jaydee
Wow, I can’t stop staring at this card. I love it and think I’ll be ‘casing’ it. tfs
Boy, you sure did have a tough day. Hope today is better and less stressful.
Yikes! What a week you had! Hope this coming one is much better! Of course, with it all, your card is absolutely a stunner…as always!
So pretty! Love the papers and the stitching, I need to try it.
Since your life with the twins..my life looks good and boring. Also a little cheaper.

PS..have you thought of changing the twins names…maybe Chewy and Nibbler…hee!
Oh MY!!! I thought I was the only
one that days like yours. Hang in
there it will get better. They are
all fixable things!!!! And stampin’ will be a joy! Love this Card. Your ideas are terrific-the
reason I subscribe to your mailing list. Happy Thanksgiving. Johanna
Here’s to hoping stamping help you restore your sanity! The card is especially splashy. Love the snow drifts and cross stitching. Great monochromatic look. Hugs, M
Hey Ann! I have to tell you….1) Brody’s big boy ears from the other day look great, tell him we said that. I can’t wait to see what the twins come up with when they are ‘old enough’ to have ‘free’ time with your stamp supplies. LOL AND…..I **had** no desire to have this stamp set and wheel until I just saw this creation! Great job as usual. Go OSU! Hugs- Tana http://tanaconley.blogspot.com
Hey Ann I hear ya!!! When things go worng a multitude goes wrong! I’ll be praying for a better week for you. I am a little late in organizing my supply room and getting itup to date with new colors and embellishments but I had to leave a comment. I didn’t like this set when I received it at convention but…..I love what you’ve done with it!
I LOVE this card, Ann! And I thought you *meant* to do the cross-stitching like that!! In fact, I would have probably done it exactly like that on my next card ;D… Sounds like a crazy day at your house. Hopefully, today will be a better one, especially with fewer distractions from the tv, phone, etc!! ;D
Very nice! Love all the inking/tearing!
