I had fully planned on having a holiday card to share with you today, but more puppy drama, which I will share after the card, got in the way. So instead of a new card, I would like to share one that I created earlier this year during my tenure as a member of the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen Design Team. And I am excited to share a peek at my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s challenge. Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Distress! The Seven-Sided Tool from the Cutter Kit is one of my favorite tools for roughing up the edges of card stock! So easy! Follow this up with a little Early Espresso ink applied with a Sponge Dauber. And lest I forget…never forget the Color Spritzer Tool! Coupled with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and Log Cabin Smooch Spritz, we have instant speckles. (For an updated version of this card, I would definitely use the “Watermark” stamp from the French Foliage set.)
- Emboss! Heat embossing is an easy way to add texture! The “Eiffel Tower” image and the “Medallion” image from Artistic Etchings were stamped in VersaMark and then heat embossed with a bronze embossing powder. (Remember, this was created for the Dirty Dozen. For a Stampin’ Up! only card, I would simply use Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.)
- Layer your ribbons! What a nice vintage touch Chantilly Crochet Trim adds to Early Espresso 5/8″ Satin Ribbon. Of course, Basic Pearls are always in vogue for the vintage look!
Pals Paper Arts Sneak Peek
And here is your peek for this week! I will let you know that I did a technique that others have used before, but I have not! Any ideas as to what it is? Tune in Thursday to find out!
Puppy Drama…Poor Muffy
Once we reached the vet’s office, we were rushed back to an exam room. Dr. Brooke started an IV of diphenylhydramine, plus Muffy got an injection of Dexasone in her little Boxer bum. Well…change that to her “getting-bigger-every-day-Boxer-butt”. Within a few hours, the welts started to subside. Of course, she had to sleep on Mom’s lap when we got home, and then her Dad’s lap, and then back to her Mom’s lap…you get the picture. My husband, Kim, did check the living room where Muffy had been playing before the incident, and I think he found the culprit…a dead honeybee. Dr. Brooke had stated that she felt that it could have been an insect sting or bite, or perhaps a spider bite. Arghhh! Poor Muffy! As I write this post, she is feeling better, and Dr. Brooke even called this evening to see how she was doing. Her concern was so heartfelt. I will make certain that Muffy makes her a card, with my help.
Hi Ann, I love your french vintage card, just love vanilla and sahara sand and black together. Such a great mix of elements. Thanks for your comments on my blog.
Wow! I’m blown away by your collage work! Collage is truly one of my most favorite mediums. This is absolutely gorgeous!
I’m so sorry to read about Muffy! I hope she’s doing better. (I’m so far behind in all of my e-mail and Pals writing!)Please give her tons of kisses and hugs from me and Tennessee! And to Brody too!
This is gorgeous Ann! I’ve never been able to pull off a collage card cut you did it beautifully!
I’m so sorry to hear about your scare with Muffy! Lucky you knew what to do!…I would of been stumped with that one! It sounds like your quick thinking made all the difference. Rub her little belly for me! {SMILES}
Valuable info. Lucky me I found your site by accident, I bookmarked it.
OMG.. gorgeous card!
Love your vintage card Ann. The French Foliage stamp is also my favourite and can see how you could swap the Artistic Etchings with the French Foliage.
I am glad to see that Miss Muffy is on the mend. It must have been a scary thing to have happen. Our pets are part of the family
Well that poor baby Muffy just can’t catch a break – neither can her mom! You better have that vet on speed dial!
Hats off to you on making this beautiful card with the twins keeping you so busy. I just love all the love you put in this card. Thanks for sharing, your creativity.
Poor little girl:( I think Muffy will be a very loving dog when she grows up. Since she is having such an eventful start in her life…I think she will appreciate her Mommy and Dad for all they do for her. We already know she loves them laps. I don’t think they realize they are getting bigger! So glad she’s ok.
Take care…Yvonne
Great card Ann, as usual! Can’t wait to see what the technique is from the little peek – I have no idea!
Miss Muffy-at least you were home with her and could get her to the vet. Murphy had massive alleries and had a reaction to a bee sting early on. Eventually he had allergy testing and we gave him monthly allergy shots. He still had times where he needed more and a trip the vet was warranted. Benadryl does help too. But, lets hope there will not be any more times to worry about! Otherwise, how is her injuries coming along? I wonder if Brody will be allergic too? Hugs to you and your family!

I honestly do not think that there are very many stampers out there that do vintage better! I can’t wait to CASE this using French Foliage. Once again, thank you for all of the inspiration that you give me. I am glad that you knew what to do with Muffy. It must be the science teacher background helping out!~Bonnie~
Fantastic card…love the layout, layers and colors! You bring vintage to a new level! Poor little Muffy (Mom and Dad too). Glad she’s doing well and getting lots of extra love.
Tell Muffy that Betsy the Boxer and I are glad that she’s feeling better and that Dr. Brooke was so helpful! Yes, I can’t wait to see what Muffy and you create for the doc. ๐ I love the vintage card! It’s beautiful! Thanks for sharing with all of us. Many Blessings-Tana ๐ http://www.tanaconley.blogspot.com
Love your vintage collage card! The neutral colors are just lovely, too. So sorry to hear about little Muffy. Poor baby! I’m glad she is doing better and getting lots of love from her “parents”. ๐
Wowzzers!!!! What a beautiful card. It amazes me how you know just the right elements and textures to pull a card together. Give little miss Muffy a big hug… Glad she is feeling better..

I really love that you put so many layers on this card. I would have stopped at 3. I would not have thought to put the hydrangea on it but, that’s what put it over the top! I love it!
Oh poor miss Muffy, I feel so badly for her ๐ I am allergic to bees and I know how dangerous bee stings can be. Glad to hear she is on the mend and happy again.
Love the vintage collage! So sorry about Muffy….I’m glad she’s all better now. Quick thinking on your part- you saved her life!
Great cards! I love your blog!
Lovely card and I’m happy to hear that Muffy has recovered quickly. We’ve had that problem with our current and passed puppies. Our vet told us to keep Benedryll on hand for future bee stings and it does work great! Gail M.
Oh man, I just don’t know what to say… how are your nerves? Mine would be gone. I am so glad Muffy is going to be fine and I’m glad you found the culprit. Whew! Your card is so rich and elegant. I am going to try it, just like you described. I hope today is better!!! Hugs,
Your card is so vintage, so you. I’m so happy Muffy is doing better. Luckily(?) you experienced this before and acted quickly. Give her an belly rub or scratch behind the ear for me.
Not funny at all, but I am chuckling a bit – these twins are definitely keeping you on your toes!!! SO glad Muffy is ok – and anytime you want to pack them up ๐ …
Oh yah, GORGEOUS card
The card is gorgeous…anticipating what is coming up next…
Poor Muffy….so glad you have such a wonderful Vet. So happy Muffy is alright and doing better…us Dog lovers have to stick together…
Sherry
You gotta love those pups. Of course, your readers love every tidbit you share. The card is gorgeous. I’m very intrigued by the technique you will share on the PPA tomorrow. Hugs, M
Your work is among my few favorites. Your card today is a perfect example of how to substitute SU products for anything out there. In the country where I live outside Cincinnati, OH, I always worry about insect bites for us humans and my dog so I totally sympathize. Nancy B
Oh my goodness is there no end to the puppy drama?! Poor little Muffy–she is going to be one Boxer with Moxie after all she’s been through! Beautiful card! {{Hugs}}
Aww, poor poor Muffy, that’s so scary, it has happened to my little one once with a wasp. Sounds like you have a wonderful vet, so glad to hear your baby is doing better.
Wow just gorgeous! I love everything about it! So sorry about Muffy!
The card is gorgeous as always – the event with Muffy must have been so scary. Can you keep an epi-pen on hand in case it happens again when the vet is closed??
Oh Ann, I am so taken with that card, with the vintage/collage elements, and I can see where the French Foliage stamps would work perfectly! I love the vintage style and your creations are so inspiring to me.
I am so sorry about your little Miss Muffy – what a scary ordeal. So happy it has turned out okay.
