It’s Thursday and time to play at PPA! This week the Pals at Pals Paper Arts have planned a Clean and Simple challenge entitled “Living in the Material World”. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a Clean and Simple card using ribbon or fabric. I opted to use ribbon, and one of my favorite stamps of all time…Dasher! It’s quick, easy, and hopefully elegant and classy, too! Won’t you join us this week? We have BLOG CANDY… I can’t wait to see what you create!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Don’t forget your buddy! When heat embossing, don’t forget to swipe an Embossing Buddy over the surface of your paper before stamping. This will reduce the dreaded embossing freckles!
- Did you forget? Don’t fret! Camouflage those “freckles” with a smooch…Smooch Spritz, that is!
- Remember your pals, too! I use the Embossing Buddy on the inside of my Powder Pals. Excess embossing powder is returned easily into its container!
- Three second rule! I inked Dasher in VersaMark and stamped him onto Whisper White card stock. When stamping in VersaMark, leave your stamp in contact with the card stock for several seconds for the best possible transfer of ink. It really does make a difference in the quality of your heat embossed image. Try it! Dasher was then heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
- Diamonds and Pearls! Dasher’s antlers dazzle with Basic Pearls and Rhinestones! And what better way to accent embossed Northern Flurry snowflakes than with a few of these jewels!
- The finishing touch! A Basic Black satin bow, smooched with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, adds a touch of class and elegance!
I personally love the look of the matted Dasher, but if you are in a pinch for time, this card looks great with only the Dasher mat, making it a viable option if you need to make several to send to family and friends.
The Puppies Need Middle Names
For half a century (doesn’t that make me sound old?), I have always given my dogs middle names. Just like any parent, when they misbehave, they get the “full-name-treatment”. For example, Missy the Boxer was “Missy Jo Schach”. Whenever she heard her full name, she would give me the infamous “Boxer eyes” look, knowing she had done something wrong. However, I am having a wee bit of a problem with Muffy and Brody. I know, I know…people will think I am crazy. But surely I am not alone in this. Any suggestions?

Muffy would also like to thank Nancy E. for the adorable get well card, and Jaydee for posting the “ouchy ear” picture. Poor Muffy almost lost her left ear in a freak crate accident and required emergency surgery. A few weeks later she had an allergic reaction to what I think was a bee sting. However, she is back to her sassy self…and I do mean sassy!
I hope that you enjoyed today’s inspiration card. It truly is quick and easy to make. Won’t you leave me a comment and let me know what you think? And remember, I really do like answering your questions…it’s the teacher in me! So never hesitate to email me if you have a question about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use. Until next time…
Stamp Set: Dasher (116816); Ink: VersaMark (102283); Card Stock: Whisper White (100730), Basic Black (121045), Brushed Silver (100712); Tools: Big Shot (113439), Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (120902), Embossing Buddy (103083), Powder Pals (102197), Heat Tool (100005); Glitz and Glam: Basic Pearls (119247), Basic Rhinestones (119246), Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder (109131), Basic Black 5/8″ Satin Ribbon (117285), Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz (118772)
Any middle names yet? I was thinking Muffy Ann (in honor of you) and Brody Carl (in honor of Carla being Muffy’s godmother).
Beautiful card – Dasher is one of my all-time favorites, as well. The Chihuahua brothers prefer my sponges to all other stamping supplies. Diego had tape stuck to his foot once, and now he leaves all of my adhesives on the table. He and Skippyjon cannot resist the sponge wedges, though … And both boys would like me to assure Brody that he will, indeed, grow into his ears. The boys grew nicely into theirs, although they have topped out at 6-7 pounds each, so their ears weren’t nearly as large as Brody’s to begin with.
Love the embossing and bling together!
oh Gosh.. Missy had the middle name Jo? Now isn’t that a coincidence..
Just pinched my daughters lappy to come online – mine is just about fit to throw… !
I absolutely love the Dasher card and Brody… well, how about those pointy ears!
Looking at them, I would say Spock would be a great middle name! He is such a handsome boy though.. and glad to hear that Muffy is doing well.. xx
Oh Ann…where to begin! LOL…well first off…love your card. I so agree…Dasher is such a beautiful elegant image. Love all the gems you added! As for the middle names…I am so on the same page as you. All my pets always have a middle name…which are used usually when I’m angry with them! LOL Daizee Mae and Daphnee Rae are mine (can you tell I was in a rhyming mood when I named them?…I’ve been thinking about your pups and I have a few suggestions, although you have to go with what you think fits your liking but I love Brody Sage or Brody Andrew…they just seem to flow for me. As for Muffy…the only thing that came to me is Ava. Have fun picking one out! {SMILES}
THUMP! That was the sound of my jaw dropping. no words required!
Poor Muffy… I hope she is doing much better. Congrats on the potty proofing… its great progress, it won’t take Muffy much longer!
Big hugs my friend
Jaydee
Middle names ehh?………
Brody Bodacious and Muffy Mellifacent.
Dasher is looking very “dashing’ in his baubles and bling! The black ribbon is gorgeous!! Of course none of your cards can compare to Brody’s(? or Muffy) alert ears. lol
Beautiful card Ann. Your bow is amazing!!
Very elegant. I love that paper, the embossing folder, have the perls and the stamp…away I go!
Love your card, Ann! I’m officially busting Dasher out of hiding because of this one! Bring on the bling! Brody looks so handsome with the bandages removed! Awww! All of my furry-kids have middle names…Benjamin actually has 3 middle names! I only use all three when he is in trouble though, which is fairly often! Haha! You have to share the mess with the Crystal Effects in another post…I can’t even imagine how “fun” that was to clean up! š G
Hi Ann, firt of all I *love* your card. I love the black & white with silver. It is a beautiful color combination. The pearls are a lovely touch.
As for Brody and Muffy. I wish that I could come up with ssome ideas for a middle name for them buy I can’t. I’m certain that you will come up with special names for them.
I love the photo of Brody. His ears will look handsome when he has grown. he is so cute right now. he must be pleased to have his bandages off. As for Muffy, I chuckled at the fact that she is learning to use the snail tape. She sounds like such a cutie. š

Hi, Ann! Love your card! Dasher is one of my all time favs, too.. Thanks for the tip about leaving the Versamark on the paper longer. I’ll have to try this. Heat embossing was the ‘ah-ha’ demonstration that got me hooked on this whole stampin’ thing in the very beginning ;D!
Dogs DEFINITELY need middle names. Our current dogs share their middle names with their human ‘brother’, Ian Thomas. Hence, we have a Byron Thomas and a Bailey Thomas. On the other hand, we had a cat named after various boyfriends (and girlfriends) of my cousin: Robert Michael Joe Sliz Ann.
Have fun figuring out their names!!!
Love the gray and the embossed silver on this card! I think Muffy Lin Schach has a nice ring to it š
Another fantastic card! I love the colors.
Oh course they need middle names! All of ours have had them and our two dogs we adopted in Texas had 2 middle names keeping in the Texan tradition! George Sydney Clyde and Murphy Mitchell McGuire. We are still working on Henry’s middle name – sometimes he is Henry Sue and Mike sometimes hollars Henry James but I am just totally sold on either. Let me think about your two!
Chris R. from Iowa
Ann, your card is lovely as always! Dasher is definitely on my wish list! I just love your puppy stories and Brody is so cute! I always give my pets middle names too so I don’t think you’re crazy! : )
Hi Ann.
Love the Dasher card. It is truly elegant.
How about Brody Beauregard Schach and Muffy Mackenzie Schach.
Enjoy your twins. Glad to know I am not the only one that has glitter and powder spread all over the house. Best part is the puppy teeth markings on the bottles. LOL
Thanks for sharing your beautiful card and your puppy tails.
Karen
Love you card Ann! I always love reading about your dogs and the stories you share with us! I can’t imagine the mess with Crystal Effects!
this is really an elegant & classy looking card ann-you accomplished what you set out to do-love reading the boxer stories
So elegant and beautiful, Ann! I love the sparklies on the antlers. The perfect touch!
The “ooooooh” factor is very high on this lovely card. Wowser!
Love that card! The colours and layers are beautiful!
Your dog is so cute! You’ll have to share pictures of them side by side and stamping!
I love your card… so elegant and beautiful. My kids all have middle names too, how funny. Hugs,
Ann you card as always is perfect. I LOVE Dasher, and I also used him for my Christmas cards this year, (entered in earlier PPA challenge) I used a single rhinestone, but I have to say the “pearls” with the black & white is elegant as all get out!
As for the names… judging by your previous Missy name, seems like a one sylable name is good for getting their attention… so I’m going to say.
Muffy Sue Schach… Brody Beau Schach
LOL
Sorry no suggestions for puppy middle names, but your card is so elegant!
GOrgeous Ann! Again, love the grey, so untraditional. I love how you include the doggie stories and yes…eek…the ears look like my labs feet when I got her. I think her trainer/breeder is right though. And that accident. OUCHI is right! Ann, I trained my two on the leash that is attached and only two feet away from each other. It REALLY works to bond them and to keep them together later in life when they (ahem) wander! THey are 7 and don’t go much more than 5 feet away from each other and are always looking over each other’s shoulders. Whenever I took them out of their crates (I crated too until they were 1)and then used the crate until they were 5 they were on the leash. To this day (7) when I use the leash (vet) because we have an acre and an electric fence around the entire perimeter so no leash required and I have NEVER taken them for a walk OFF the property so they KNOW not to go off, even though I am surrounded by 100 acres on all sides, they still go on their 2 feet apart leash. They sleep on each other, even at 7! Just a though for your bundles! They are HUGE so fast…how did they grow so fast? p.s. please tell me if you get a call due to my letter…
Bling! I vote one name should be BLING! Your card is gorgeous. Seriously, I’m not good at names, so you are on your own. Or, you have lots of help here, I see! Good luck.
Your card sure is pretty. Especially with the ‘diamonds’ and ‘pearls!’ What girl wouldn’t love Dasher?!?!?
What a joy to have crafting puppies! I hope Brody keeps the Crystal Effects away from his big ears.
My Johnny had a middle name (& it got used often!) and Harry has one too.
have such a nice way of adding bling to any card Ann, but Dasher is such a stylish fellow with pearls on his antlers. OMG, the Boxer Boys are something.
Ann, What a gorgeous card, Dasher is still one of my favorites too and especially silver embossed he really does “shine” and with all the bling it’s beautiful.
Love your stories about your “babies”. I think one of your followers nailed it when she said their middle names should be Muffy “Tuffy” and Brody “Goo”!
Love the big boxer ears and cute stories. The twins are sure to grow to be great stampers under your tutelage, Ann!LOL.
Love this classy and elegant card. Dasher looks great in these colors.
Well Muffy is a toughy the way she pulled through the crate disaster. I would have to call her Muffy Tuffy, lol. And Brody Goo because of the crystal effects, lol. My SIL accused me of being a red neck because our three dogs all have middle names, lol. You just got have it when you’re yelling at them, lol.
Love the dasher card, thanks for the tip on the embossing buddy and the versamark. I have not been leaving it on for a couple seconds and I think this is going to help.
Love the card! Love the puppy tales! Hugs!
This card is absolutely stunning and definitely clean, simple but however very elegant. Our dogs have always had middle names….Stefani Elizabeth and Bordeaux Nicholas. They know their names quite well!!!
How about Brody Beal Schach (Beal means handsome) and Muffy Malaika Schach (Malaika means angel)? And my sister has a cat that is quite proficient with adhesive also…so happy the twins are loving crafting with mom!!!
Gorgeous card! Very Elegant!
Great job on the CAS card! I just love Dasher (eventhough I don’t use him often enough).
Your puppies are super cute. When I saw that picture of Brody, I immediately thought Brody Bull. His ears kinda look like horns. Muffy took a little thinking and the only thing I came up with was Muffy Jane.
My dog got into my card stock sampler last year. I had to tell my customers that “my dog ate it”. Now she watches me everytime I go near my stamp stuff.
Dasher is dashing. love the silver and bling (especially on the antlers). hugs, m
All I could come up with is Brody Beau and Muffy Marie. I’m glad they’re all healed up…maybe Muffy wanted her ears to match her brothers? Goegeous card! Way to make dasher really dashing!
Leslie said … Wow and double wow! Dasher has been a favorite of mine ever since he came out and he is just gorgeous in his embossed and blinged finery. Another artistic treasure!
Very elegant and classy indeed! I love what you did with his antlers. Brody is adorable. How about Brody James and Muffy Lynn for middle names? lol This is too much fun. I have never given a dog a middle name before. Also, I am looking forward to your blog candy. You are always too generous! I have to be at work early this morning so out the door for me. ~Bonnie~
Stunning!
I love layers and you used them to make this absolutely, positively beautiful! I haven’t been sold on that embossing folder, but maybe I DO need it. š I just love Dasher!
LOL…I only have cats, but love to hear dog stories. I guess they go for different types of help; cats are really great at “helping” with ribbon. We have many chases throughout the day over it. They do make life interesting, that’s for sure!
Thanks for sharing your amazing talent.
Your faithful stalker,
Rita š
You nailed elegant and classy with this card! Your bow is perfect! I always enjoy reading about the twins and their “activities”. My dogs have middle names …and we use it too. lol Enjoy your day with the precious pups!
Your clean and simple is anything but that. This is so pretty with all the layering. What is weird is that I used the same stamp and folder for two other challenges this week before I saw this one. What do they say – “great minds”?
I love your boxer stories. Brody is a beautiful dog and I’m sure he will grow into his ears. Sounds like you never have a dull moment. How fun.
Hi Ann..I love your card. Dasher is such a nice stamp and looks so elegant too.
Brody is a little(big)cutie. He has such a sweet looking face. I can’t believe how eager they are to help you get your tape and Crystal effects out for you to stamp with. Such little helpers. hee I rememeber those days well with my Bully. I have teeth marks in so manyof my stamping things from 2003&4. I guess they like what we like.
Have fun with the twins,
Yvonne
