It’s Thursday…time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week is a fabulous sketch challenge designed by Margaret Moody. Although ’tis the season for fabulous Fall, Halloween and Christmas cards, I opted to create a non-seasonal card using the Dream Gardens set and the faux silk technique! Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Emboss! Heat embossing is a wonderful technique to help images “pop”! All of the images used on this card were stamped in VersaMark Watermark Ink and then heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder! What an impact this makes when compared to just stamping an image in Basic Black!
- Faux Silk! In a matter of seconds, you can transform ordinary tissue paper into an extraordinary background! After preparing the surface (see this pictorial), I brayered Cherry Cobbler ink onto the tissue, and then randomly stamped and heat embossed the “Dream” image!
- Make the sketch your own! A sketch is meant to be a starting point for your creativity. Notice that I did not use a wide border, as illustrated in the sketch. Instead, I opted to use the Scallop Trim Border Punch, which I accented with Basic Pearls.
- Au naturale! Get out of the Very Vanilla rut! Natural Ivory has an organic feel, and is just perfect for adding “warmth” to a card. Try it…you’ll like it! A light daubing of Basic Gray connects the image mat to the black embossing, creating a cohesiveness among all of the layers.
- Add depth and dimension! “Pop” up the “Dream” circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals!
An added note: Those of you who frequent The Stampin’ Schach know that I respond to your comments individually, when an email address is available. Plus I comment on your cards, especially those which are submitted for Pals Paper Arts and The Paper Players. Please bear with me for the next few weeks, as time will be a limited resource for me. We had puppy drama Tuesday with Muffy the Boxer, who was injured trying to crawl over the divider in her crate. While her injuries heal, I have to keep the Boxer Twins separated, occupied, and happy…which is a full-time job! So if you notice that I have not thanked you individually or that I have not commented…you know the reason! Until next time…

Poor little Muffy! Hope she’s up to her boxer tricks soon! GORGEOUS card Ann – can’t find enough amazing words for your creations anymore – do throw in a dud every now and again, would ya 😉
Beautiful!!
This is so exotic and gorgeous Ann! I’m sorry to hear about Muffy! She sounds like a little Rascal…hurting herself that way! …and you sound tired! They are like taking care of infants but so worth it! {SMILES}
This is awesome Ann. You’ve made me want the stamp set and I have never given it another glance! The colours and the pearls are beautiful.
Hugs,
Lesley
PS Give a little cuddle to the Muffy pup.
Ann, this is UBER gorgeous! I adore this stamp set but you have taken it to a whole new level with the faux silk. Just stunning. Poor little Muffy–here’s hugs for a full and speedy recovery–and for you too!
I’m not usually an Asian art fan, but you have converted me with this card … gorgeous! Hope Muffy feels better quickly. Take care of yourself and enjoy those puppies!
So beautiful. Black embossing powder makes it look awesome!!
I’m so sorry Muffy had gotten hurt and wish her a speedy recovery.
Hang in there, Ann. I know it always hurt me more than the kids (both 2-legged and 4-legged)when something happens to them.
P.S. As always, an amazing card.
I knew this was going to be amazing! Wow. I love the faux silk and the Asian elegance. I need to give that stamp set a second look. Hugs, M

Your card is unique and lovely as usual. Can’t beat that color combo. Poor Muffy; I think you’ve got a little minx on your hands. Hope she is healing well.
Your card is gorgeous! I l am so sorry to hear about Muffy. I hope she gets better soon. I know how stressful their injuries can be, we think of our little ones as babies, and I totally freak out if they get hurt.
Very pretty oriental card! That color combination is always striking! (Sorry I’ve been absent a few days between being forced to clean house 🙁 and having 3 year old and 4 year old grandchildren here for a few day.)
Hope Muffy heals very quickly. I always hated to see our pets get hurt too.
Very creative! This is the best card that I have seen made with this set. I hope that Muffy is fine. I have fallen in love with her from her precious pictures! ~Bonnie
Very pretty, Ann. And I love your color scheme, tee-hee!
Oh poor little Muffet……she was trying to get to her brother to tease him I am sure 🙂 Meanwhile you and Mary were in the red zone…..just gorgeous – I love this!
Leslie said … Wow! I am glad to see something besides the fall/winter holidays being done. While I love them, this is a refreshing innovative idea. I love the idea of silk and its many uses.
Ann, your card is absolutely stunning. My thoughts are with you… take care of those kids!!! Hugs,
Your card is beyond gorgeous–the colors, the design, the technique, the embellishments! Absolutely amazing! Do what you have to for Muffy–we’ll all be right here for you when she recovers!!!
Puppies, babies, they all have to be watched all the time don’t they! Hope Muffy heals quickly with a full recovery and can be with her brother soon.
Ann your card is so gorgeous, don’t ya just love that stamp set (although I don’t have it) I always admire it when it’s used.
Beautiful color combination!
Poor Muffy! She just wanted to be with her brother. And poor you! We hurt when they hurt. Plus, it’s so hard to keep two puppies separate and calm! Good luck!
Ann this is absolutely stunning!
I LOVE the cherry cobbler silk and how appropriate with the stamp set. I always think of silk with the far east… so beautiful. Love the finishing touch of pearls.
PS: So sorry about Muffy. Hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery.
Stunning card, as usual Ann! But I’m so sorry to hear of little Muffy’s injury. I’ll be thinking about her and hoping that she improves rapidly and that YOU survive the stress of puppy rehab! Good luck!
Hugs, Barbara in SC
That is a beautiful card!
