When I saw the sketch for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge, I immediately wanted to use the Buffalo stamp from Stampin’ Up!’s In Wilderness stamp set. This stamp is one of my son, Brady’s, favorites. He left for college on August 20th, and I am missing him. I find myself thinking about his baby days and the cute things he would do. He was quite the little “Nature Boy” and would collect all sorts of wonderful things, including feathers. He would proudly bring his “finds” to me and I would place them in a baggie for him to keep. The feather which adorns this card is close to 18 years old, and is one of Brady’s “pretties” which I had tucked away. I thought it fitting to use it on this card, which will be for Brady’s birthday. It is a quick and easy masculine card, and I hope that you enjoy it! Now if I could just quit humming “Buffalo gal won’t you come out tonight, come out tonight…”, I would be a much happier woman!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
- Friend or Faux! Faux Wood is so easy! To create the Faux Wood background used in this card, a piece of Soft Suede card stock was zipped through the Big Shot with the Distressed Texturz Plate. A little Early Espresso ink was then lightly brayered onto its surface. Tip: Lightly spritz the paper with water to form a deeper impression!
- Distress! It’s easy with the Seven-Sided Tool, a Sponge Dauber, and a little ink!
- Spritz! It’s a breeze with the Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker!
- Stitch! The Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch is a natural for cross-stitching! A little Linen Thread is all it takes!
I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up my image when I made this card. Are you Stamp-a-ma-jig dysfunctional? If so, enjoy this quick tutorial with only one tiny little blooper at the end. Heck…I am not even going to sweat this one…at least the camera didn’t flip and the batteries were fresh!
I hope that you enjoyed this masculine card. And I hope that you will join us in this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. I always enjoy seeing what you create! And remember, if you have any questions about the cards that I create, or the techniques that I use, please don’t hesitate to email me. Until next time…

Another beautiful creation Ann! Love the story behind the feather and I am sure that Brady will treasure this card! Thanks again for your inspiration to all of us!
What an awesome story to go with the card! I wish I was as creative as you are when it comes to blogging! Hope your son has a great birthday.
Brady is going to adore this card and how special to place one of his ‘pretties’ on it! What a treasure! Oooo, love the stitching idea – you enabler, must get ribbon border punch!!
Ann, Great card. The feather story is so heartfelt and touching. so sweet. LOVE the stitches… so cool and your video is fun. I however, need the SAMJ because I can’t seem to get my stamps on the blocks straight! Talk about not seeing straight. I “think” it’s straight and stamp on a scrap, it’s crooked. Go figure… Oh well… I’ll just go “Dance by the Light of the Moon”!
I feel like I am watching your video standing on my head. ;o(
love the card but couldn’t keep watching the video tho-
Beautifully done. I love the feather…what a creative touch. I can almost hear he Cherokee chants!
Mike
Your stitching always gets me! Thanks, Ann!
How special you made this card by adding one of Brady’s pretties. It fit in beautifully with your design. I’m sure he will enjoy it very much.
This is a beauty! So pretty.

This card is a wonderful for any male. But I can see that you put a great deal of thought, love and details on your card for your son, Brady. I love that you used the feather I’m sure that he will be very touched by that. Love your stitching too. Now if I could only sew. 😉 Awesome masculine card.
Thanks for the tutorial Ann.

Okay, when I saw this set I went “WHAT would I do with THAT?” Now I know. Only some one as brilliant as you could make a kick-booty BUFFALO card! XOXO
Ann, it is a wonderful card! I love seeing Buffalo and have gone to the Buffalo Roundup in Custer State Park, SD. We’ve driven with them right beside th car. The feather just ads a Native American touch to a great design!
These videos are pushing you quickly to the top on the stamping top 50 site. Great job again and amazing card. I’m still chuckling about the “I can’t see straight.” I hear ya, sister! Hugs, M
P.S. I have to remember that cool cross stitch.
Such a cool card! Love the embossed bg, and the pop of red is perfect. Love that you used your son’s leaf, sweet. I have gifts from my kiddies too. Whenever it was my birthday, Christmas, Mom’s day, whatever, they always wanted to go with dad to “buy” their present to me. I always told them to find (have a heart shaped rock, leaf, etc) or make me something. I love it. 🙂
Only you could make a big ol’ buffalo look fabulous! Brady is going to love it- especially with the feather!
Fabulous card! The story behind the feather is so touching. I also enjoyed the video because I, and I hate to admit it, didn’t really know how to use the SAMJ! ~Bonnie~
This is fantastic Ann! Love this sketch…I can’t wait to play along! :o)

OH MY GOSH….how cool that you saved something all those years to put on a special card. Just love it to pieces.
Wonderful masculine card! I have this stamp set on my wish list. You just moved it up a notch for me. How incredible that you have Brady’s treasure find and used it on the card!!! Loved your video too! Have a great day!
Beautiful card, Ann. The stitching on the border trim is a great idea. Loved how you brought in something out of your son’s childhood collections. Enjoyed your video.
Awww!!! what a beautiful story about Brady’s finds… I am sure he will love the card and all the love and thought you put into it.
I love the layers and the distressing… love that you do videos.. You did a great job…
