Stamp Review Crew: Vintage Leaves Edition

SRC-Vintage-Leaves-bannerIt’s time for another round of inspiration from The Stamp Review Crew. If this is your very first visit, we are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first and third Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set.   This week we are featuring one of my favorite sets from the annual catalog, Vintage Leaves. You may have just left Stop #4: the talented Dawn Tidd. You can always count on Dawn to feature a unique and beautiful project.  I am Stop #5 on the hop.   I am featuring a card which was inspired by one I created three years ago using the retired French Foliage set (see it here), and a gorgeous tag designed by Rae Harper Burnet at Wild West Paper Arts. I hope you enjoy today’s card.

This finished card measures 5-1/4″ square.

  • Introducing the elegance! I used a variety of elegant touches…gold foil, gold sequins, gold thread, gold embossing powder and pearls (of course) to lend an air of sophistication.  The scored background was created using the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate, scoring at the inch marks on both sides.  Gold thread was looped and held in place with glue dots, as were the sequins.

  • Introducing the grunge! “Grungy” touches include a little “faux burning” in the upper right corner.  To create this look, simply tear the paper upward, and distress using a sponge dauber and Early Espresso ink.  In addition, the edges of the paper were roughed up, and distressed with Soft Suede ink.  The edges of the leaves were also distressed using a sponge dauber and Soft Suede.

IMG_2937-002What do you think of my elegant-grungy card? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? Your comments mean so much to me, and I love reading them.

IMG_2937-005I hope you enjoyed today’s hop.  I am always blown away by the talent on The Stamp Review Crew, and I hope you are, too.  Up next is one of my favorite designers, the talented Tanya Boser.  Until next time…
