Love is Kindness for The Paper Players

IMG_1362
It’s Sunday, and I am back with another The Paper Players Design Team card.  This week I am hosting a color challenge:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand.  I thought this trio of colors would be a refreshing change from the colors of the holidays and winter. I hope you enjoy my “cleaner and simpler” card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • With a snip-snip here! After stamping the Love is Kindness image directly onto Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper, I stamped it onto Crisp Cantaloupe and Lost Lagoon Designer Paper.  I then snipped and paper pieced the blossoms and paper wrapping.  A Painted Bloom Cotton Twine bow was added.  Isn’t it adorable?IMG_1362-001
  • Banner! The “Thank You” sentiment is from Painted Petals. I created the banner using the Banner Framelits, and “popped” it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to add more depth.IMG_1365

Bows! I opted to top the banner with a beautiful double bow, crafted from Lost Lagoon ribbon.  This ribbon has such a beautiful silky sheen to it!IMG_1362-002If you are wondering where the rest of the Love is Kindness image is…the quote by Robert Louis Stevenson: “The essence of love is kindness”…I snipped it off!  This gives me the flexibility to use it wherever and whenever I choose without having to mask it off when I just want to ink up the flowers.  It’s a beautiful quote, and I know I will use it often.

Muffy Update

5c1e4219756a35b0bd2bd25d17501175Because many of you emailed me wondering about Muffy, here is an update.  Muffy is not ready to visit the “bakery” yet, so there are no “Mini-Muffins” in the oven.   Dr. Rita checked her on Monday, and said she is healthy and nothing is wrong.  Muffy is quite the celebrity at the vet’s office, and everyone is as anxious as I am for the pitter-patter of tiny paws.  But we will have to wait on Mother Nature, who is taking her own sweet time.  What you are seeing is Muffy’s ad which will be in the February edition of The Boxer Ring magazine.

It was refreshing to create a “cleaner” card than I usually make. But you know me,  I was thinking about adding a pearl or two.  I resisted the tempation.  Then I thought about sequins, and resisted the temptation.  I still think it looks a little bare, but I am not sure what I would add.  I truly admire those who create Clean and Simple cards.  What do you think about my clean and simple effort? Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  Your comments are important to me.  And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  1. Nothing more is needed Ann. A beautiful card with terrific paper piecing. And wow, Muffy will surely cause a stir when that magazine comes out. Can’t wait to see her “little champions”.

  2. Such a gorgeous card, Ann! I love the paper piecing on that stamped image. You have some serious fussy-cutting skills, my friend! 🙂

  3. Ann, I loved this color challenge – thank you! I also love your double layered penant banner for the sentiment and that bow is perfect.

  4. I love the way you combined the colours on your card this week Ann and I think it is an excellent example of a ‘clean and simple’ card, even if it was hard to resist the addition of pearls lol! I love the interest added by the paper piecing and the polka dot paper. Funnily enough, when I saw the paper you used for your background I thought of you – it’s just asking to adorned with tiny pearls on the diamond points I think – although not on this particular card!

  5. Ann, the paper piecing is genius! I think all of your adorable details are just perfect, you don’t NEED anything else, but I’m sure if you HAD to, you could work a pearl or two in there somewhere 🙂

  6. Your card is just perfect, just the way it is! Love that you operated on the sentiment phrase….I do that quite often too! This sweet image is wonderful in these colors too!

  7. LOVE the poster/ad for Muffy…she is so beautiful and regal!!!!! Your card is lovely – yes, not your typical Ann card design but it really is CAS and does not need anything else….love that you stamped the flowers on the polka dot paper..really dresses those tulips up!

  8. I love ALL your creations .. . . this is gorgeous! Would have been gorgeous with pearls, too! I, too, struggle to create a CAS card as I LOVE everything “vintage” . . .with lots of frou frou! Thanks you as always, for your inspiration! Am also a devout dog lover – cocker spaniel and german shepherd right now – yours are beautiful!’

  9. Ann – I love your CAS card! I struggle like you to achieve that balance of beautiful and simple. I love how you took the Love is Kindness stamp “up a notch!” How did you do the sweet polka dots? They are sheer perfection!

  10. Beautiful picture of Muffy. Yes, refreshing color combo and pretty card.

  11. I really like this card. Especially the way you colored the paper orange. It makes it look like tissue paper instead of newspaper.

  12. Ann, I love tulips and these paper pieced ones with polka dots are fabulous! Two of my favorite things! I love the color combo, too and it made me think of Spring! Check my blog, I added pearls for you this week! XX

  13. It is a beautiful card!!! Love the colors and the paper piecing is such a nice touch! I don’t think about doing that often enough, but I’ll certainly be trying it with this stamp now.

  14. I love your CAS card, Ann! The colors are beautiful together and the paper pieced tulips are delightful. I so understand your dilemma about whether or not to add embellishments, I find myself struggling with that as well with CAS cards. I think yours is perfectly balanced as is and applaud your restraint! 🙂
