Jack the Boxer’s Photo Shoot

Jack Knuth

Jack the Boxer celebrated his 11 month birthday in style with every dog’s dream…a photo shoot.  Well, maybe Jackie would have preferred treats, but with the American Boxer Club National Show less than two months away, we needed to get an ad developed for the Boxer Ring/Boxer Daily magazine and online site.  So Jackie was a good sport about it, and settled for treats later.  The talented April Knuth, of Watertown, Wisconsin captured his personality.

You might remember that April took pictures of Muffy and Lexi in the fall of 2014.  I wasn’t present this time around, but Amy the Handler did an excellent job helping Jackie look his best.  Don’t they make a striking pair?

Jack Knuth editedIn total, there were probably 10 different poses.  I selected the head study for his ad for the Boxer Ring magazine.  It was a tough decision.  Of course, there were lots of pictures where things just weren’t quite right….like the tail down, ears cocked back, looking up at birds or planes….who knows what was catching his attention.  Photographing a puppy is a tough job for all involved.  As April edits pictures, I will have more to share with you. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this peek at these two. This Mini-Muffin is not so mini any more!

These pictures were taken last Monday.  On Friday evening, Amy was involved in an accident on the way to a dog show.  She was battered and bruised, but her friend’s daughter, Skyler, suffered severe facial lacerations and underwent plastic surgery that night.  Skyler will be facing multiple surgeries in the future.  One of the show dogs was severely injured, but miraculously survived.  She was rushed to the nearest emergency vet’s clinic, suffering from a collapsed lung, liver lacerations, and an abdominal bleed.  Another puppy was traumatized by the crash.  Everyone else in the vehicle (Scott, her friend; Scott’s son; and Amy’s son) were battered and bruised.  Jack’s sire, who is currently the #9 Boxer in the nation, escaped with no injuries.  What a blessing that all are still with us!

Stay tuned tomorrow for my Pals Paper Arts Design Team card.  We have a fabulous sketch for you! Until next time…

  11. Beautiful, beautiful dog. Do boxers suffer from bloat like other deep chested breeds? Do you have their stomach tacked. I have an Akita and I really want to have her tacked, but my husband feels he doesn’t want her opened up, especially when tacking offers no guarantees. I am sorry for posting this on your blog site, but I didn’t know how else to ask you. You can reply to my personal email.
