From the Herd for The Paper Players

From the HerdIt’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! The talented Sandy is hosting a sketch challenge this week.  The moment I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of the From the Herd stamp set.  So I pulled out my Blendabilities and went to town coloring this adorable image. I hope you enjoy today’s card.pp233

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Peek-a-boo! This cutie-patootie herd of big-eyed animals resides behind the card front. The Soft Sky panel was punched using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch, while I used a Circles Collection Framelit for the Whisper White card base.  I used Blendabilities to color the critters. From the Herd-001
  • What’s a party without balloons and hats?  The body of the goat and the head of the llama were stamped and colored a second time, snipped out, and adhered to the outside of the circle. For a touch of whimsy, the goat sports a trio of balloons tied to his tail, while the llama has donned a party hat.

  • Add a birthday banner!  A “Happy Birthday” banner was created, and tucked behind the goat.  I used the Hexagon Punch to “V” the end.  It’s a perfect “V” every time!

IMG_1565“Cute” cards are tough ones for me to design, so I really appreciate those who do a fabulous job with them.  What about you? Is there a specific type of card that is a bugaboo for you? Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  Of course, if you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  3. This card is just awesome Ann! I love the way you used the two animals to frame the window looking in on the others and the little details such as the balloons tied to the goat’s tail are just super cute!!

  4. I agee with Linda C.–best ever! My favorite parts are just that, parts! Love the llama’s head and the goat body sticking out from the rest. The balloons on the tail are priceless! Fabulous card, Ann!

  5. Oh I love it!! The wood paper is absolutely perfect! The balloons and party hat add to the fun. I didn’t even think kids when I saw it – I thought it would be great for someone in a workplace, sent by the co-workers. Thanks for sharing!

  6. This is adorable! What you’ve done with the goat and llama is a stroke of genius!

  7. I don’t think any of my comments took earlier, so I am trying again. Love the card especially with the wood grain for the barn! Aren’t barns usually red – but who cares this is a great fun card! Love the little party hat on the llama who is popped up there as well as the balloons on the goat’s tail. Quick question, since the Blendabilities bleed through – where did you actually color the animals? I read where you punched the circle which I think is the barnwood part and then you cut another circle out or vice versa. I guess I am just trying to figure out the layers. However, you did it, the card is sure cute!

    • Hi, Chris! The Herd was stamped and colored on a separate piece of card stock, which was glued on the inside atop the card base itself. It was not stamped on the card base because it would have bled through. I punched the barnwood layer, but the punch could not be positioned on the white card base because the paper was too big to get it centered. That is why I used the circle framelit. I used the punch on the barnwood layer because it was exactly the same size as the one on the sketch. The layers go: Barnwood layer, top of card base, the image layer, the bottom of the card base. Hopefully this all makes sense 🙂

  8. That little llama outside the circle just made me laugh out loud! He is like the crazy cousin that nobody wants to admit is actually part of the family. Lol!! This is such an awesome card, Ann! Totally adorable! 🙂

  21. Oh Ann, this card really made me laugh, I can’t stop smiling, I just love the way you arranged the lama and that party hat and the goat, with his little tail holding the balloons, such wonderfully delightful details, what a cute bunch of barn critters.
If you think cute cards are hard for you to make, well you hit the ball out of the park with this one Ann!!
You ask which cards give us a hard time to make? For me, masculine cards are the most difficult. The other day I realized that I don’t have any masculine stamps, I love flower stamps or cute critter stamps, Fairy stamps…..I think I own one or two sets with images that would be perfect for guy cards.
Thank you for the laugh this morning.

    • I love this card!!!! Your ideas are fantastic!! WE have a card ministry and this is a great idea for a child and actually an adult to pick them up!!! Make them smile!!!! It is amazing how a card, a real card, not a text, picks someones spirits up!! I cannot wait to try to make it and sent it to someone in need!!

  22. Love, love, love this card? Llama is my favorite!

  23. Oh my little goodness! This is just the cutest, cleverest card ever, Ann! I love the way the herd is peeping out the window you created, and what amazing technique to have the goat and llama partially inside/outside! It’s fabulous! This one has me grinning from ear to ear!
